I had Steve sharpen all my kitchen knives, in two batches. Each batch of knives was done the next day. A few knives had nicks in the blade or bent tips but he was able to fix them. They are so sharp now. My father (an avid hunter, who has been sharpening his own knives for years) said these were the sharpest knives he's ever seen. He touched up my husband's hunting knife at our front door. Steve is very professional and helpful. When he returned the knives, he even showed us how to keep the blades sharp using a honing rod. I plan to have Steve sharpen my knives at least each year before each hunting season begins.

I've never had my knives sharpened before and Stephen (the owner), provided me with an excellent experience from start to finish. While the business doesn't have a conventional storefront, he's operating an extremely professional business! I would highly recommend him to anyone in the area (or not - he does mail in sharpening) because of the excellent service and the sharpest knives I've ever held.The Cutter's Edge specializes in the convex cutting edge with Stephen is extremely knowledgeable about and I back him up 100% when he says it's the best general use cutting edge you can find! He turned my mid-grade, pretty average knives into professional cutting tools that I can feel confident in every time I use them!World class service, sharpening, and sales?! He'll definitely see the rest of the knives in my knife block before too long and I now know where I'm going to be spending all of my birthday money this coming year.

Our 22 year old knives were in dire need of sharpening. In the past we would sharpen our knives with an electric or manual sharpener which left them with improper edges and other problems. I conducted a search to find a company that could provide professional sharpening service. My search kept coming up with one company that stood out and could provide the service I was looking for – The Cutter’s Edge. I contacted the company owner, Stephen Draper, who is a retired butcher and took my knives in for sharpening. Mr. Draper is very friendly and professional and spent time explaining the problems my knives had and how they would be repaired. Additionally, he explained in detail how the knives should be maintained. When I received the knives back they were in excellent condition and had been restored to original condition. It is now a pleasure to cut meats and vegetables instead of shredding them. Mr. Draper provided a quick turnaround and very reasonable pricing. We will definitely return for knife sharpening on an annual basis. If you are looking for a top notch, professional knife sharpening service, The Cutter’s Edge is strongly recommended.

Wow! I've had 2 batches of knives sharpened now. My first batch included a machete, a butcher knife, and 2 pocket knives. The machete was in really bad shape. Too many encounters with rocks hiding in the rose and blackberry bushes! I didn't have much hope for it, but I was wrong. Once I got it back, I could shave with it! Now it slices right through those bushes with no problem. It's much better than it was when it was new. One of the pocketknives had a broken tip. He not only put a razor sharp edge on it, he re-profiled it with a new tip. Awesome work! After seeing what could be done with those abused blades, I went all in and had all my kitchen knives done- I couldn't be happier! Highly recommended. Quality service.

I have to say my knives are better than new. To me the difference before and after is sawing my my food or cutting, slicing or dicing I’m am pleasantly surprised at the difference. I have a knife that was my mother’s and is old but a keep sake and now useful too. Steven did a great job and a lot less than buying new!

I've never used a professional sharpener before Steve. Had a knife in a very tough steel (SR101) that needed reworking, so took it in. Boy what I've been missing. The edge is sharp enough to shave with, and a mirrored finish you can see which whiskers you've missed. He was honest and upfront about the fair price, time was as quoted.If you use a knife for camping, hunting or whatever, you owe it to yourself to get an edge as good as this man's.

I used Lorenz sharpening for about 25 years, and since they went mobile only, I could not get a call back after multiple attempts. So I tried the Cutter's Edge. I had 3 knives sharpened and one of them, a long Wusthof slicer repaired. I had dropped it tip first into a stainless steel sink and blunted the tip. Stephen was easy to work with, very fast, and reasonably priced. The tip repair was well executed, and the edge sharpness on all 3 blades is excellent. I will be using them for all my sharpening needs from now on.

What a discovery Cutter's Edge is. I took in two kitchen knives recently with pretty beaten up edges. Days later they were restored good as new and sharpened like a razor. Nice work and incredibly affordable. Highly recommend.

He is very knowledgable about knives. He has 35 years of knife sharpening experience and will explain to you anything you want to know about knives when you drop your knife off.I had a Wusthof 17 inch that he sharpened and was very pleased with the results. I bought it new and onions kept sticking to the knife. When I brought it in, he showed me a bur on my cutting edge and explained different types of knives that could eliminate that problem. I was very happy to get it back and cut onions without them sticking to the knife. He took about 45 minutes to answer all of my questions which was very long considering his already-low prices.

I would give Stephen a 5 star review as a courteous person. Seems like a nice guy but the cost was 50% more than quoted and three times the cost (or more) than where I usually go. Perhaps that high cost is because he is self employed and I understand their is value in supporting small businesses like his.I had a a hard time paying 50% more than I was quoted. Decided to give his work the benefit of the doubt. I have used my knives twice since. The quality was less than I am used to at other shops in SLC. Unfortunately I won't use his service again.I paid 300$ for his service.

Would not hire again. Was knife sharper than when I dropped it off? Yes. Was it razor shaving sharp? Certainly not. The guy repeatedly told me how ridiculous it was for me to spend that much to get a knife sharpened, and to drive 40 miles to get to his shop. In retrospect I agree. Also, though it does not mention this on the website he will NOT do work on weapons or tactical knives for "personal reasons". That is fine I suppose, I just hope no one wastes a trip out there without realizing it.

As Mr. Draper advertises His workmanship is superior. Do you want quality or quantity I chose quality and it is worth every penny - dollar I rendered for the great service. I came to Stephen with my Ka-Bar TDI, whose blade was thoroughly dinged, nicked, and the blade tip was bent completely off. I received it the next day in better condition than the day i bought it, and am thoroughly impressed by his genuine professionalism and ability. I took several knifes to be sharpened including a serrated knife that I wanted sharpened into a regular blade. The Cutter's Edge was able to exceed my high expectation and got it done in no time. I was able to shave the hair off my arms with all the knives that I had them sharpen. Since the sharpening I have field dressed a large deer and de-boned the entire animal and I am still able to shave with the knife.
