I would definitely stay here again! It is an old historic building, with thin walls, that sits right on a main road in and out of town. The building is on the corner at a 4 way stop. This was my only major issue, semi trucks and construction trucks coming and going all throughout the night, stopping, and the reeving up to get going. Obviously this is not the fault of the hotel whatsoever, just a heads up to others who might be light sleepers. We got some ear plugs and that solved that issue. There are multiple bars surrounding the hotel, so it was pretty entertaining at night listening to the folks leaving the bars or arguing in the street. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear people talking and watching TV in their rooms, walking in the hallway, the squeak of the stairs when people used them, and the elevator running. The elevator was a pretty cool experience. It had a thick outer door and then a pull closed gate door. So when the elevator moved, you could see and touch the elevator shaft walls. The bathroom was pretty cool. It had lots of lighting, really nice smelling shampoo.conditioner, and the room had it's own water heater so we never ran out of hot water. My absolute favorite thing was that it also had a heater you could turn on and off. It was so nice to turn it on so when you get out of the shower the bathroom is nice and toasty.Having a real kitchen was so nice! The room had a stove, oven, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, sink, and a full size fridge! The kitchen wasn't super stocked; 3 plates, 1 bowl, 2 mugs, 3 forks, 1 butterknife, a ladle, a medium soup pot, and a medium frying pan. Despite not being fully stocked, it wasn't an issue getting things we ended up needing. The front desk was super helpful and if we needed any sort of kitchen item, they would run to their storage area and get the item for us, we never had to go out and buy anything. The cleaning folks were very respectful of our privacy and very accomodating. If we needed new towels, they would give us them and gather up the old towels. My only gripe about the hotel specifically was the bed. The mattress itself was a very stiff spring mattress. The pillows were not the best, but we made due. The pillows were obviously very old, the cotton inside was hard and lumpy. The sheets were absolutely disgusting. They look like they had not been changed or washed in decades. You could see the dirty and sweaty imprint of one person who slept in the middle for a very long time. We stripped the bed, but the dirt and sweat was also stained into the mattress. It was really gross. We ended up buying a blanket to lay down on and sleep on.Rooms: The bathroom was pretty cool. There are banks, restaurants, the movie theatre, bars, gas stations, all within walking distance. This place is awesome! We brought our eight kids and rented two suites and had plenty of space and a wonderful stay. The kitchens are great, with full fridges for everything we brought. Our rooms’ A/Cs kept up great, and the living spaces are big enough that the playpen didn’t get in the way. There were wonderful, rocking leather recliners in one suite! The building is close to everything we wanted to do and we were able to walk everywhere. Highly, highly recommend!Rooms: Plenty of comfy space!Nearby activities: Right in the downtown.Safety: We felt very comfortable here.Walkability: We could walk everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel: restaurants, the park, swimming, stores.

Such a comfortable place to stay. I’d stay here instead of any high end hotel. Clean rooms. Double mattress protection. (You always wanna check for bed bugs) with the double protection it ensures there’s no bed bugs and you can spot them easier.Such a clean and inviting hotel as well as the rooms. Huge rooms. They’re all suites. The price is amazing for this hotel. Don’t go any where else.Rooms: BIG, COMFORTABLE, INVITINGSafety: Feels safe.Walkability: CENTER OF TOWN. Main Street.Food & drinks: Fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, cupcakes, bagels, milk, cereal, coffee, and several other amenities.

A beautiful historic downtown hotel. Large rooms with kitchenettes and a very friendly staff. I can’t recommend this hotel enough! It was clean, it was close to downtown and it was just a nice place to stay. FYI the elevator is a historic elevator and small. Check before your reservations to make sure it will accommodate wheel chairs.Nearby activities: Orifino is becoming known for its fishing. Be sure to check for the different runs. And water sports are becoming more popular in the river running close by the hotel. And access to the reservoir is close by. For quilters, there is a quilt shop with-in walking distance and a variety of other little shops to visit.Safety: Orifino has a small town feel. People know their neighbors here and are very friendly. I would have no problem walking around this town at all times of the day.Food & drinks: There is an excellent traditional Mexican food restaurant within walking distance and a cafe across the street if you choose to have an earlier breakfast.

LOVED our stay here!! Big, clean rooms with kitchenettes. A fantastic patio that we used each of the 6 nights we stayed. We grilled, we used the fire pit. Staff was amazing! Perfect parking next to the hotel for our motorcycle group. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Was wonderful to have access to laundry facilities. Beautiful area of Idaho.

This is our second trip here over the last couple weeks - this was an OK stay. The rooms seem to be well cleaned though they have signs of stains and wear and some of the "fixes" are fairly insufficient, including that of the residential window AC unit used to replace the hotel style units secured in place by a piece of unpainted plywood. The room really needs a couple of mini splits to heat and cool the rooms quietly and efficiently. The room 310 had a marvelous view but the outside of the windows were terribly dirty and had mud swallow nests building up on the corners. The rooms had a slightly musty smell which seemed to come from the old particle board cabinets and the smell of disinfectant and odor reduction sprays. The full kitchen would be nice to use but if this was my hotel I would at a minimum paint the inside of the cabinets with Killz, paint the rooms a more modern color, and replace carpet. But again - it was mostly clean - I'm just a snob Hilton Gold member and you just don't get that I'd quaint little towns like this...Breakfast Was a nice added touch and consisted of Hotel style. Bagels. Muffins. Raisin Bran. Juices, coffee. Sausage links. And (powdered?) eggs. It got the job done but didn't quite delight. The location is convenient to the downtown area of Orfino and it felt safe. The staff were friendly and helpful when engaged with. The back patio area behind the hotel Is the jewel of this hotel and features a barbecue and a really nice seating area for friends and social people to gather. I would stay here again for the price but may pritize other places.Rooms: Rooms are dated and have signs of wear and stains but these things considered they are clean. They smell just slightly musty from the old particle board cabinets and of disinfectant used to clean the rooms. Decent price but not the best in town. The ac does not cool the room well enough.Safety: It felt safe here

This is amazing hotel! Great prices good breakfast and the rooms are incredible. They come with a full kitchen, microwave, stove, full size fridge, toaster, dishes.. Two separate rooms with ceiling fans. I will be coming back here every time I'm in town. Staff is very helpful and friendly as well. The place dosnt look like much from outside but the Inside is very nice! They also offer AAA discounts. Highly recommend!

We loved staying here! The rooms are old apartments, so we had a full kitchen with most dishes and pans we needed to cook dinner. The mattresses were super comfy and everything was very clean! I loved the fact that because they were old apartments they have good soundproofing and I actually slept because I couldn’t hear anyone else! The ancient cage style elevator was a hoot for my kids to experience! Breakfast was tasty and we enjoyed eating it outside on the tree lined deck.

Stayed here for two nights while in town looking at some property and it was super nice for the price and dog friendly. Sink, oven, 4 burner cooktop, coffee maker, microwave large fridge and even cups and plates... like a mini apartment. Bed was like a cloud in comparison to the motel 6 in Wells NV the night prior that cost the same and was so bad we didn’t even use the shower or bathroom while there. Lady at the desk was super nice. Breakfast was a 3.5-4 star. But the best part was the old school elevator.

Incredible experience! Very friendly staff and helpful. The rooms are huge. Not only the size of the room impressed me, but the attention to detail of the room itself. Very CLEAN and well taken care of. Location is perfect for a walk to the river or a simple bite to eat. I travel constantly for work, and I can't compare this place to anything I've experienced. Breakfast was just one more thing to make me smile. Scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, bagels, coffee, juice, just to name a few. This property has character and charm. Again, I can't say enough about the service. The ladies that work here are beyond refreshing and professional.Lastly, the price of the room was a shock! I would have paid triple of what I was charged knowing what this place offers. GREAT VALUE, GREAT ROOMS, WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will absolutely visit again.Thank you Helgeson Place

We stayed 8 nights here and we were very impressed. The rooms were very clean and the staff was excellent! They were very friendly, from the front desk ladies to the housekeepers, they all made us feel at home. If we could have taken the bed home with us we would have; as it was super comfortable. The kitchen in the room was nice and had dishes and pots and pans, which was great. We will definitely be staying here on our future trips to Orofino.

We enjoyed staying here. Conveniently located but if you're a light sleeper this isn't the place for you. Trucks going down main street all night. Clean room with direct TV... many rooms have small kitchen perfect for a long stay. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, coffee and muffins.

This stay was more than I could have expected! It was like an apartment (and not one of those tiny studio ones)! And it was clean, clean, clean. Not even a water spot on anything. The room opens into a very large living room (big enough to do yoga, if that's your thing), the kitchen (with real coffee cups, not paper) , the dining area (to drink your coffee) and there was also a separate bedroom (each bed had all the pillows a person could want)! It would be perfect for families after spending long (and sometimes on terrifying mountain roads) hours together in a car. What a great place to decompress! What a great room! I'm so glad we picked you :)

I was a little apprehensive at first sight of the old brick building. But the interior was great. Good clean rooms, amazing front desk staff with Kerry going way above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Breakfast was good. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in the area.

Great little place, clean rooms. The wifi is perhaps a slight upgrade from 56.6k (Thats dial up speed for those too young to remember.) The air conditioning is a window unit and not quite enough for the double room suites in the dead of summer but honestly a wonderful place to stay.

Great staff, wonderful clean rooms, very comfortable beds, great place to hangout (patio) and in walking distance from park and store. Our family had a wonderful time and will gladly return and recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in Orofino Idaho. The price is great for what you get and the staff are wonderful. Not that far up the road is the Reservoir which is great for swimming.

Husband is working at the dam for a few weeks, his company didn't check hotel availability, and we had to come over to this hotel for the night. If they had availability, husband would prefer this hotel. Its beautiful, has a kitchen and is cozy. Tons of character. We ended up cooking enough food for him for another week for his stay at the other hotel. He has already informed the office that this is the preference for future jobs in the area.

Kerrie was super friendly and got me all set up quickly in very clean room. Definitely recommend a stay if you are in the area. Don't let the old brick building fool you. The hotel is very well kept with all the comforts. This will be my first choice anytime I'm in the area. Great pricing too. I really liked the older gate style elevator, pretty cool

When we first pulled up to the hotel I looked at the exterior of the building and said..please tell me this isn't the place....to my surprise once we walked inside I was pleasantly surprised and when we walked into our room I was thrilled we stayed here and not anyplace else. The bed as very comfy, the room modern and very clean, we had a kitchenette and a full size refrigerator. The continental breakfast was small on choices, but was still good. We paid $40 more for a hotel in Salmon the next evening and the Helgeson was a hundred times better. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone and if I visit again I'll stay here without a doubt!

Good stay, but noisyCentral location means you can walk to many places. Friendly and professional staff. Very large room with a separate room for the second queen bed and a small kitchenette. Bed linens and towels were very clean. Wifi was good. Along with a selection of carb-laden food, there were sausage links and scrambled eggs for breakfast, but we chose to eat at Krystal's Cafe across the street, which was quite good. We also recommend Augie's and Fiesta En Jalisco. We also enjoyed a visit to the Dworshak Dam and Visitor's Center. Furniture and cabinetry looked worn and chairs looked dirty. A/C is only in the main room, not in the second bedroom. Lots of traffic noise especially from large logging trucks going right by our window. We had to run the A/C all night for white noise. Large opening under the doorway into our room - big enough for a large rodent to come in if it wanted to! Pretty noisy, overall.

Great place to stay! Clean & friendly staff. The double queen rooms seam to previously have been a 1 bedroom apartment with all full size appliances. Comes complete with real dishes. This is particularly great for families or even multiple people sharing a room because 1 queen is in the bedroom & the other in the living room. Making it easy for 1 person (or kids) to go to bed earlier & not being disturb while others are watching TV, or coming & going from the room. Though none of the rooms are specificley handicap accessible, they offered toilet risers & wheelchair was tight but accessible to all parts of the room. Building also has great historical charm.

Just stumbled across this hotel online and when we showed up it was well above my expectations. An old historic building with very modern rooms. We got a 2 bedroom suite for less $ than a single at a chain hotel! Wouldn't stay anywhere else within 100 miles. Plenty of parking, full kitchen, walking distance from the whole town. Couldn't have been any better! Wish we were staying longer.
