We got our kitty, Hera, there a few months ago (her name is Ika now) and she was fully healthy kitten. Everything about the adoption with her was smooth sailing and all her records were updated. If you are thinking between the Pullman HS vs here, adopt a pet here. The adoption fee is MUCH cheaper, your kittens will be given to you healthy, and they give you a discount for 30-days with Pets Are People Too. My experience with the Pullman HS was the COMPLETE opposite (more expensive adoption fee for a kitten and long story short it cost us $$$ for an emergency vet bill due to roundworms and lack of transparency from the Pullman HS). Ika is now doing wonderful and is a cat with sass (she loves cuddles though).

The humane society of the Palouse was a pleasure to adopt from. I am from Canada and was visiting some friends in eastern WA when we chose to stop by shelters as I had been looking for a new dog. After stopping by a few different shelters, we went to HSP and were treated by friendly staff. I found Finn (Named Archie at the time) and knew imiddetly that I found my next pup. HSP approved new as an adopter within an hour and made sure I have all the necessary things to get my new fur baby home to Canada. Finn has come so far from the scared stray he once was and I couldn’t be happier.

Last time I was by there, it was open by appointment only. It would be nice if it was open at least a few days a week. I'm retired, and would gladly love helping out a couple of times a week.Time Flys. Glad knowing now, they are open more than when I posted my first review. Everyone should adopt a pet from a shelter at least once in their life. Wright now I have a senior Britney Spaniel, that's a rescue from a breeder. Sweetest dog ever.

Staff are the sweetest people. They very obviously work hard to take care of the animals and love to see them get adopted. They returned every phone call and welcomed my boyfriend and I into the shelter frequently to find our fur baby. They also bumped our cat's spay date up once the adoption paperwork was pending so we could take her home sooner. 10/10.

I saw that there was no review for this wonderful shelter, so I knew I had to post the first one! I have spent many hours at this shelter petting cats during the time I was working on getting an emotional support animal. It was incredibly helpful for me, and it was great to see how well all the animals were being treated. The cats get a lot of visitors whether they're in the cat rooms or in their own space, so they're never left to sit alone. There are adoptions all the time and it made me happy to see some of my favorite animals go to new homes.A month or so ago, when I was finally approved for an emotional support animal, I went and adopted my cat Lucy, who was named Grace at the time. She has definitely come out of her shell since she has become accustomed to her new living situation, and she's even more happy and excitable than she was when I first met her.The staff was incredibly helpful in getting the paperwork necessary for her allowance into my housing and were wonderful through the entire process. I was very glad to be able to support this local shelter when taking home my very important pet. I know she was well taken care of (and one of the favorites of a staff member!), and I hope to soon get another cat to join Lucy as she absolutely LOVES other cats!I would definitely recommend adopting from this shelter, the fee is well worth it, and you can be sure that the animal you are getting came from a safe and healthy environment.

Fantastic park. Summer is probably the best condition wise because it's driest. The park has some bark coverage but also dirt and grass in areas of heavy play. Winter is great when there is snow on the ground, however, while it is melting when spring comes along can make for a muddy mess. The regular park attendance have a great attitude towards dogs rough housing and playing with each other. I found this really nice because at some others parks I've been to when dogs are rough housing there has been people upset about "fights" when clearly both dogs are having fun playing with each other. Most of the regulars also have a great compassion for people trying to socialize their less then social dogs. I thought this was a fantastic aspect to the park. As dog owners we all know sometimes our dog has a little attitude and the best way to address it is to socialize them more but some times accidents happen and dogs snap at each other. The understanding of the parks group to want to help others socialize their dog has been one of the main reasons I will continue to be a regular attendant

Although I didn't adopt from the Humane society of the Palouse, I went there many times while looking for my new dog. There were great dogs and cats there, but none of them were exactly right for me. HOWEVER, and this is the more important fact, the staff at the shelter were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They discussed different dogs with me so I knew about their background. They allowed me to take dogs out for walks to get to know them. They were great.Now that I have been adopted by a dog, we often go to the dog park at the Humane Society of the Palouse to play with other dogs and socialize with other humans.

Wonderful facility with lots of friendly people. Always a fun place to visit and say hi to animals. They also have a decent sized dog park with a couple places to sit at along with plenty of space for your animal companion to run or just vibe!

I am very grateful for the dog food. My mother and I are visiting my daughter here in Moscow and ran a little short on money. I needed a little bit of dog food to last just two more days before paycheck. They were very generous. Thanks again, you're awesome!

There is a great dog park here. On a hill so it's rarely swampy and the grass is well maintained. Only down side is it costs to bring your pet but it's not too much.

No place to complete paperwork other than standing between the front door, counter and cat room so I had to keep moving around. I adopted a cat that has issues with hiding and running away whenever I try to interact with her. I wish they had given me more heads up on the problem. I am hoping she comes around, but they were willing to extend the trial period another 7 days. I have had to shut off the entire house to limit her to the front room and kitchen and block access from behind bookcases and under furniture. I am partially disabled and it is hard to climb around on the floor to coax her out.

The Humane Society of the Palouse is fantastic! The group is so creative and offers wondering community resources such as Howling at Hamilton and the Moscow City Dog Park. They also have a donation program to help needy families cover the cost of pet food. I am so happy to have them in our community.

Brought in a cat we found during the winter, it was ~25 degrees out, to help her find a home, and was told to “just put her back outside”. What is the point of this shelter then?

The place was exceptionally clean, animals all in good health, lot's of messaging with the animals so you had an idea of whobthey were. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

These guys are awesome. What else can you give em. We live in a university city were kids get pets, can't take of the, dump off on the humane society. Don't buy a pet. Come here.

They are in sore need of more funding so they can catch their facilities up to date. Wonderful people and kind knowledgeable staff that provides a needed community service and shelter for homeless animals.

I'm amazed at the care they take with animals. They even kept a bonded pair of cats together when it was best. People who want to adopt pets are screened sensibly. Kudos.
