Our experience was nice here my wife loved it. It's older building so somethings aren't going to be hotel style stay. But the place was pretty clean and comfortable. The bedroom bed was comfortable but the noise from neighboring rooms could be a problem for light sleepers. The best part is we literally never drove anywhere for 3 days! Every thing is literally just steps away from restaurants, stores and recreational activities. 78th Grill is awesome and the lava hot springs were plenty hot. I didn't hear much noise from the bar next door like other's complained about. The neighborhood is nice my wife and kids went walking every morning. Hopefully the new owner uses the money to make some remodeling updates. This place has a lot of potential. I think that they're are making great progress but some minor upgrades can really help this place shine.

We loved staying here! It was in a spectacular part of town. We walked everywhere we needed to go. The staff was super friendly. I read previous reviews about a smell in the hallway, yes it smells like water. But not sure what you can expect when everyone is coming in soaking wet from the river. 🤷🏽♀️ Our room was great, definitely old, but the bed was a lot better to sleep on than I was expecting. It was basically a small 1 bedroom apartment, kitchen and all. The only downfall was that the hose on our shower was broken so we had to take baths. 😬 we will definitely be staying here again and recommending it to all our friends!

Great location, the staff is nice. The room size is adequate however the walls are super thin and we could hear everything the other guests were doing, the guests in the rooms above us were walking around normal and you could feel their steps. The room decor was cute but the lighting was insufficient, also it could use a deep clean and new paint.Overall we were satisfied with our experience.

Although I did not end up staying here, they were happy to keep my full $577.00. I would recommend you stay away from these cold blooded, heart of stone dirt bags at Contemporary Studios/Hillside Suites! The owners have no sympathy or understanding that sometimes life happens and plans don't work out. The only good attraction for my young family was the Olympic sized pool and water slides in Lava Hot Springs. We found out the night before that there was a break at our main attraction and it was going to be closed for the whole time we were there, leaving us with nothing to do but tend our kids in a small studio room for 3 days and 2 nights. I immediately tried to reach out to the owner to see if they could help us in anyway, refund or reschedule. They lacked any sort of sympathy. They were more than happy to use the contract to keep all our money, $577.00 in exchange for nothing; no goods or services! So there went my 4 young children's vacation this year. Maybe in 2 years we can afford another. I suggest you read the fine print, they will certainly try to use the contract to rob you of your money. If the owner decides to reach out and negotiate a return of some of my funds I'd be happy to consider updating this review accordingly.

Kinda rough. Old building with very dated everything. We didn't expect much so I wasn't offended. Stayed in #6 w/ 2 bed rm. Room was musky and had a pretty strong odor that we couldn't place. Really bright lights from outside that were difficult to block out. Not likely to stay again

I loved my room here! It's spacious, welcoming, and clean. The bed I had was soft and super comfortable. The resident dog Panda is adorable. And the staff is attentive and kind. Definitely recommended as a great place to stay.

This was my first time on Lava Hot Springs. My mother in law LOVED this hotel her last stay so it’s the one we went with. First of all, it is so cute and I loved the decor in our room! The beds were cozy the place was super clean and tidy!! Also the owner is really sweet and her puppy is THE CUTEST! I will be staying here again and I highly recommend this hotel! It has everything you need! Just bring your own food and drinks! 😊👏🏻

We enjoyed our stay. The lady that checked us is was super helpful and friendly and was great about giving recommendations. We had a full kitchen in our room and some comfy furniture we could relax on. The location was great too, near stores and restaurants and you can easily walk to the springs.

We enjoyed our stay. They went above and beyond changing our bedsheets and towels for our friends to stay the 2nd night. The only issue, which is not their fault ( due to a bar) is the available parking. If you check in later in the evening you'll be lucky to find a place to park. We had to drive around the block until we found a parking spot.

I guess we will start with the positives. These suites are within walking distance of everything there is to do in Lava. It is right next to the museum, and only a couple blocks from the hot springs. Although some guests complained of noise from the bar and train, we didn’t hear much noise from either of those. It is nice to have a full size kitchen in the room.As soon as we arrived, the front desk clerk was not welcoming at all, she gave us the keys and we headed to our room (the family suite). At first glance, the apartment was very cute. Some of the blinds were broken. There is only one window A/C in the living room area, the other 2 rooms don’t have any air flow. Our party of 4 ended up sleeping in the living room all together because of how hot it was in the rooms. They do have ceiling fans, but in the heat of summer we were burning up. They do not have any maid service, which is very frustrating because we paid so much for the room. The walls had holes all over, and the pull out beds had dirty sheets. You could hear everything, from someone stepping on the ground to moving luggage. Not sound proof at all! The TV in the room is the size of a computer monitor. The WiFi they provide is very slow. The beds felt like you were sleeping in a canoe, not comfortable at all! The whole hotel room smelt like urine from the moment we walked in.The front desk clerk is only there certain times during the day, but they leave the front and back doors open 24/7. They are very strict with their rules and require you to take out your own garbage. I have never been to a hotel that has guests adhere to so many rules.Very disappointed for the price we paid for the room. I understand it is an older hotel, and I usually never write negative reviews. We will not be staying here next time we visit.

I understand this is a hotel in what can only guess part of the historical buildings. It needs some updates to it, it was just bought by new owners. Sure hope the new owner takes better pride in the building general maintenance than previous owners. Electrical outlets are less than desired. Our tv was plugged into a extension surge protector to reach electric power. Only one night stand in the king size room. Corner floating shelves could solve space issues. The other stand was small it for a lamp and white noise. No spot to plug in your phones. There are no clock ⏰ at all in this place. Our bathroom door was old, but I love old wood what I had a issue has the door knob, lack of maintenance care or pride in work, left one screw hanging out was not screwed all the way in. You had to be careful not to snag you're hand on it. Shower does not work well, when you pull the lever up it it has full pressure in filling the tub. The microwave is high on the. Fridge. If they removed the center kitchen cabinets door shorten it and removed first shelf it would fit perfectly there. The lack of power in bedroom they should invest in lamps with USB ports so you can charge your phone and use it device for alarm. Not sure if it is because the building is old but there is a strong chemical smell of products trying to mask orders or the cleaning products . It is heavy with a plege like smell..you get used to it after awhile.

This is a decent two star hotel. Location is awesome. Bed comfortable. Staff attentive. Easy going. It’s a bit dark, drafty, and definitely dated. Felt a bit cramped. Had to use space heaters instead of central air. Definitely could hear other guests through the walls. It’s just an old hotel kept up with love.

Owner is fabulous. We booked for the normal room but somehow our dates got mixed around. She took care of it for us and upgraded our room for free. She also had towels for the hot springs. When the neighbors got too loud she took care of it. Excellent customer service!Only thing is there is a bar next door and the walls are very thin so you can hear everything from the music to someone taking a shower. Nothing ear plugs can't fix though! :)Super cute place! Just about a minute walk from the pools. Can't say enough good things about the owner!

Super friendly, accomodating staff. Was upgraded to a nicer room due to high vacancy - I can't think of much nicer you could do for your guests. :) Excellent location, very clean, and very warm! Learned from locals that this building used to be apartments, which made sense, our room had a fully furnished kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living area. We were blown away by the space, we were not expecting it!

I stayed at the Lava Hot Springs Inn in April and it nearly ruined the entire experience of Lava Hot Springs for me that I never even wanted to travel there again. However, this month we came back to this hotel instead for a family reunion and it was so wonderfully pleasant and cozy. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel itself is part of the history of the small tourist town and is modified to be a small apartment-type spaces. It could have been a bit cleaner. My comforter had crusty-something on it as soon as we walked into the hotel and the couch had sand in it but it was still cozy for me and my family to stay in and 110% better than staying at Lava Hot Springs Inn. At night we went down to enjoy beers and cocktails at the bar next door which wasn't a problem at all as far as noise! I even had a baby with me and felt very comfortable with her being there. This was an awesome hotel!

The lady in the gift shop was nice and friendlybut, we could not get any sleep. We came to get away and celebrate our anniversary. The music from the bar nextdoor pounded all night, and I could hear every word and sneeze up stairs from us, I could even hear them walk, because every step they took was a loud squeaky sound from old floors. Our bedroom was by the hallway and we could hear every step walking down there also. I recorded how loud it was and you can hear it all. Our bedroom was right by the hallway and bar side, so maybe this is the one suit that is bad. We ended up sleeping on the couch that folded into a bed and shut the bedroom door to block out some of the noise, it was not comfortable. Our room was also outdated in every way.

Cozy place. Plenty of room for maybe 4-5 people in the single bedroom apartment we stayed in. There was a hide-a-bed in the living room. We were walking distance to all the nice little restaurants and attractions. It's an old building, Don't expect a lavish modern 5 star hotel, but it was clean and neat, all the amenities we needed, all our expectations fulfilled.

Very cute, vintage building. The suites aren't fancy but are well-stocked, and it was great having a kitchenette that was actually pretty much a full-blown kitchen with range, oven, microwave, and fridge. The owner is very friendly and kind.

We stayed in the Family Suite and it was adorable. Like a small apartment from the 30s. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us, extra blankets and pillows. Fully stocked kitchen a big plus, just bring your food and you are set. Late check in was a breeze. Close to everything. If you are snooty about staying in an old hotel, Lava Hot Springs in general is not the place for you because they all are. Just a heads up. :)

I am writing a response to the owner on her response to my review on this shady place. First off she is not telling the truth of the situation. No one is facing no charges. If anyone it would be the managers son who bothered and threatened our group. This place is attached to the bar next door. So plan on hearing all that is going on at the bar. Ya we were a little loud which is expected by ppl having some drinks until 2 in the morning. So after our little confrontation with managers son everything was just fine he came in our room and had drinks with us. The only noise we made was going back to our room. With the mangers son.

This was by far the worst place I've ever stayed. I first pulled up and thought...uh oh, this place looks dark and dingy. It was just that and smelled super musty like decades of old cigarette smoke despite the no smoking policy. I decided I was just going to deal because I wasn't planning on being in the room very much anyway. Well, things got worse as I discovered built up grime everywhere and what looks liked years of poor housekeeping and lack of love and care with the cheapest supplies they could find. The drapes didn't cover the windows and the blinds were also covered in grime and falling apart. Window looked right into the Ally and people could peer in despite having the blinds and half curtains closed. There is a large dance bar within the same building as the "suites" that still allows smoking and can be heard in the hallways at night along with bar fights and people screaming beligerantly as they exited walking and carrying on in the middle of the night outside my window. At one point the police arrived outside because of a violent fight. Walked into the hallway one day toward my unit and it was like walking through a huge bong hit cloud of smoke. Also, the walls and floors are paper thin. I could literally hear what the people were saying on either side and above me, which made it hard to sleep and felt very uncomfortable. The bed was also very uncomfortable and caused pain. The only reason why I gave this one star and not 0 is because the woman at the front desk was really nice and they called me after checkout to tell me I left my computer charger.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars on this. The place was pretty old and worn, but they've done a decent job at trying to work with what they have. Beyond that they'd have to gut and remodel. It's kind of tucked up a side street and attached to a bar. There's lots of noise. In their room binders they have the number for the local police if people are being loud. Location is very good though, it's within walking distance of shopping, the pools, the hot tubs, etc.

In past years the experience was great. This year it was the complete opposite. After checking into our room we noticed quite a disgusting smell. After turning the place upside down we discovered in the drawer of the linen cupboard a bag of poopy diapers left from previous customer. (so much for proper maid service) So here we sit with a stinky room, a bag of dirty diapers and our towels and linens hosting a poop party. We make the situation known to the "front desk" and all that was offered was some air freshener....REALLY!! The room gets better. Ceiling fans don't work properly. The blades are unbalanced. So when turned on they would literally wobble off the ceiling. Lets keep going, my 2 y/o closed himself in the bedroom and could not open the door. The door knob is also defective. Front desk/management says "oh so sorry those items were on the maint list. I guess he didn't fix them.WOW! I have no words.

The first night the people upstairs were really loud and we called at 2 am to report it. They stopped pretty soon after that and come to find out they'd had to call the Sherriff's office to come quiet them and they ended up getting kicked out. We weren't going to ask for anything but they credited back out night before even calling to let us know what was going on. These people were amazing to work with and it was a great establishment! 10/10 would stay here again!

We had a very awful experience with this hotel. First of all the staff is extremely uncaring and do not care about the amount of money you pay to stay there. Part of the staff are clearly on some sort of substance and gang members. The room we stayed in had a bowing ceiling and black mold coming out from behind the shower. I was smelling some sort of weird smell all night and was sick when I left. Stay away from this place if you care for your health.

The place was clean and the sheets were soft. It's located right next to a bar and there seems to be zero enforcement of their quiet time policy between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The sheriff came at one point to address the noise and it did quite down for a little while, but after he left, the people above me turned their music up. Between them, the people on the street, and the people in the hallway, it was hard to get a decent nights sleep. I wouldn't stay there again simply because there's better options in Lava Hot Springs with more amenities, like an ice machine, which this place didn't have.
