Very cool location next to the rumbling River. Has a barbecue on the back porch and a natural gas fire pit as well. The rooms were clean. If you visit lava Springs you must check out the Mercantile store on Main Street they have really cool handmade items. Found a good little coffee shop and pretty much everything is walking distance. The pools were busy however we visited on New Year's Eve and there were fewer people at the pools in the a.m. will definitely do it again.

Very nice people on the phone. We had a late check-in so they made sure that we had what we need. In the morning. We officially checked in and it's pretty close to downtown and everything else. Our site is right next to the water which is really nice to hear the river sounds in your camper. The only slight downfalls that occasionally at night and very loud rain comes by and honk their horn in the middle of the night.

Great this time of year. Two people with TT there. A little Hot springs across the bridge that's overflow from the closed at the time hot spring amusement park? We went to the state run Hot springs in West lava springs. it was open till 10:00 It was awesome they have them up to like 115°. $8 per person 6 or 7 pools varying temps. The camp spot is sweet but for 70$+.has laundry super clean new restroom facilities and warm. .. Not a koa member though.

It was overall a good stay.My biggest complaint is they nickel and dime you for everything. We had to pay for each vehicle to be there each day but then wasn’t allowed to park at the camp spot we had to park on the road. We also had to pay like $10 per person a day and it added up fast.It was convenient it was walking distance to the pool the kids were able to go back and forthWe booked three spots that backed up to the river. It was all mud and not much grass. The spots were very small and no option to have a tent and trailer which is what we needed. We ended up having to cover the fire pit to make it work. If we stayed again I would go with the nicer paved spots and not plan on having tents. We didn’t use the showers or bathrooms but heard they were nice and clean.

In traveling to & from AZ, we stayed at LHS KOA twice: the first time we stayed in a one room log cabin, rock fireplace, with the rest rooms right next door. It was clean, the bed was comfy & room was adequate for our needs. Second stay, we got a one bedroom with electric fireplace in the living area, bathroom & kitchenette. It was a very nice new house type unit right across from the river. A bit pricey, but worth it!The park is RIGHT NEXT to a big hot springs water park with everything a water-loving kid of any age could want.Lovely place. Highly recommend.

Quite a lovely campground. I love the mix of gravel and grass, and absence of weeds. Lots of camps, many with patios for tables and fire basins. Some along the river, some down the middle between through-roads, some against the hill wall and township. We had a stay in campground #1 right next to the general store, playground, and K9 camp. Super nice that it has fences on three sides so littles are contained except for one direction to supervise. Playground is a little lackluster, but if you bring sand toys and like swings, it's better than nothing! The area is overall clean and has lovely mature trees and the sound of river rushing by. A train is in the near distance and it sounds off right as it goes by, so that noise comes throughout the day and night. Some really cute cabins and nice shower and toilet rooms.

We have been coming to this campground for over 25 years and it's been really nice for our large family reunion. BUT the service in the office is AWFUL! The old lady working the desk is rude, condescending and unreasonable. We booked ONE site but they insist we booked 2 and that we have to pay for them both at their ridiculous, exorbitant prices! I would think it was a fluke, but so far out of our group, THREE reservations were messed up.

I found the CG in good shape. Bath/showers very clean though could need remodeling. The CG has construction ongoing with associated noises but the staff gave me a heads up which was appreciated. The parts of the CG that are upgraded are very nice. I had a riverside site which was great. I experienced a vehicle issue and the staff directed me to a n amazing mechanic. Very much appreciated.

If you have a Big Rig stay clear! Our family was falsely informed. Spot 69 is supposed to be a pull through spot. If you want to damage your rig for an insurance claim. This is the best place to do it. Lady at the desk did offer to move me to the East Koa for an extra $60 a night. She was very nice and helpful.Thankfully I was able to get my Deposit return. However still had to pay the $10 for cancellation fee. We weren’t willing to damage our rig for an one night stay in Lava. Keep on trucking down the highways.

Stayed at the Koa just entering town, next to the pornuf river where the kids float the river and swim in the huge pool or go to the hot pots. We love to sit by the river and watch all the floaters go by, walk up town for pizza and ice cream, we have family reunion there every year now for 30 years. They also have a small grocery store. We loved it as kids now our kids love it. It's a great place at the Koa, no pricier than any where else. We take a trailer, but I know there are nice rooms to stay in and not so nice, none luxury.Noteworthy details: If your looking for quiet, Lava anywhere near town is not quiet.

landed here as a last choice... I think there was one other vehicle in the whole grounds, it seems like $80 for the off season is pretty steep. Especially since we couldn't use the water at the site because of temperature. The place was nice enough and the person at check-in was cool to give us a small discount (maybe that was the off-season break).

As much as I want to give them more stars I just hate how expensive camping is and they nickel and dime you to death. Extra car? More money. Extra people (that will fit)? More money. Extra tent (same number of people)? More money. This location is great but how is it that you pay $200 for a CAMPING spot! Yes, it was a bigger one but they would charge more if you actually use it (have the amount of people allowed or another tent). KOAs have gotten ridiculous!

We had a fantastic weekend in one of the pull through RV spots. We didn’t use any of the facilities this stay, but the sites were great! The office has a little shop which was nice because we totally forgot sandals. Perfect location for indoor pool and a short walk from the hot pools. There’s also hot pools just across the street at a little inn. Frequent trains go through town close by but my kids slept through them so they’re not too obnoxious and we didn’t feel them go by, just heard them. Definitely want to stay here again.

We come to Lava Hotsprings every year and stay at the KOA West in our RV. They also allow Tents, Trailers, Dogs, etc. There are some sites right next to the river, and they also have cabins you can rent some with or without bathrooms. All the sites have picnic tables and a firepit. They have 2 very clean communuty bathrooms and showers. There is a playground for the kids, dog park for the dogs. There are a couple of smaller hot springs right across the street, as well as the swim pool and water slides on the other side of the river you can go to, and a bridge in the koa to walk across to the pool. There's also the bigger hot springs just a short 5-7 minute walk from the KOA. You do have to pay for the swimming/waterslide pool, the small hot spring across the street, as well as the nice big hot springs down the road. There's a bunch of cute shops all worth a visit!(My favorites are Purple Moon, Dempsey Creek Trading Company, Lost in Lava coffee/gift shop)

Overall great experience! We stayed in one of the camping cabins. The cabin we had was a “studio cabin” one queen sized bed and a small couch that pulled out into a bed. It worked for us this time as our boys are still small, but a little more detail on the reservation would have been nice on what we were getting. Only complaint about the cabin was that the ceiling fan was dirty and dusty, unusable in July. Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. Location in town was fantastic, walking distance to all the big attractions. We will be back!

The location of this park is amazing. Beautifully maintained and is a 3 min walk into town! We didn't even unhitch our truck. It's right by the river, so you can go swimming in the water or ride your tube and just exit at the park. There is a small hot spring area by the park bridge. Also near water slides and hiking trails.Nice little dog park with lush grass.Be aware, the water pressure is really high and kept blowing out our hose, even with a pressure regulator.Jim at the front is awesome! We would definitely stay here again.

My family & I always stay here for 4th of July weekend. We book months in advance knowing it's going to be busy. I always plan for extra because I know things can always change. They are so hard to work with when it comes to refunds or additional tents/cars, etc. They count how many tents are up & ask you to take tents down if there are too many on one site (even if it was paid for). As soon as 10PM comes around, at exactly 10:06 they came around and asked us to turn off our music when it wasn't loud at all. They come around every 10 minutes reminding you to be quiet. It's so annoying to constantly be watched & told what to do. I am reasonable person & know when we are getting loud but this was ridiculous. Other campers were being louder but I guess just because you have 10 people on two sites, we are the problem. Sites are nice. Bathrooms could be cleaner. Staff could be nicer but I would definitely not stay here again.

The positives: staff very helpful and accommodating, grounds and facilities are immaculate, many sites are riverfront. Walking distance to market and the cute little town. Hot springs four blocks away. The only con (and this isn’t a ding against KOA) is the size of the RVs that are allowed to park riverfront. We were surrounded by 40 ft rigs with pop outs, which made for a very claustrophobic stay. Also, the huge rigs run their air conditioning non stop, which is just as bad as leaving a generator on all night.

Stayed here for 5 days, 4 nights.Camping: They say you can put tents up so we got a tent site. They put us in an RV site that did not have enough room on the grass for our two tents. The site was waaaaay too small and the people next to us were literally right next to us. Super close. 1 star for this.Cleanliness: very clean campground. Bathrooms nice and clean and locked. You get a code to get into the bathroom. Everything well maintained. 5 starsSafety: seemed very safe. I was not concerned about letting my kids walk around. 5 starsLocation: excellent! Right next to the river and walking distance to every where. 1000 starsVery crowded. They stacked a ton of people in here. I didn’t feel like I was camping. Sleeping in a tent between to RVs is not fun. This is great for RVs but not tents. Not spacious at all…no privacy

I expected to be crammed in with many RVs as this time of year is a great time to take a soak in these world famous hot springs. We were virtually the only guests on site this weekend. They are a must visit when in southern Idaho. We took a dip on a very chilly 8° night and the water was amazing. Make sure you check out the town’s museum also.

Beautiful and friendly. Spacious. Only thing less than perfect was trash came at 6am. Wonderful location to town. If you like trains, you can see and hear them, though you may hear them anywhere in town. Walking distance to both local and state mineral pools. The stream was beautiful and so relaxing. Very clean. I would gladly return. Loved it!

Let me start by saying that the place is really nice and beautiful with the river just next to the camp, but those trains blowing their horns all night long just ruined it. The lines are so close that it shakes the camper and you get awaken every 1 hour from their super loud air horns. Nothing helped to sleep normally. We counted 7 trains this past night. During the day it seemed like the trains are not coming so often and it doesn't matter too much anyway, but the night sleep is really what's needed for a good rest. I understand there is nothing to be done to help with this situation, but maybe people will think twice about it if they read my review. The highway is also close and semis using their engine brakes disturbing the night are not uncommon, but this is nothing compared to the trains. Very, very uncomfortable stay. Think again, thank me later.Again, this has nothing to do with the actual campground or management.
