The cabins are very cozy, close to the Portneuf river across from the cabins. It runs by some great RV parking spots looking at that river. I gave them 2 stars for service because no one is around Monday to Thursday, along with limited working hours Friday- Sunday. If you want something, you have to get in your vehicle and drive about a mile away to their other office in a different area of town. I find that ridiculous or even worse, asinine, not sure what the owner was thinking of that concept. Everything else was great. Some people might have other opinions about driving away to check out, they should have a drop box located around the office area to drop off the keys where we were staying at, instead of us driving to the other location drop it off, I found that to be very inconvenience for us.

Ok let me start by apologizing to some of the other reviewers! I honestly thought some of you might have been overreacting about the noise at this place. Let me say - They Weren’t!Let me back up. First the staff are really nice, very helpful, and very professional. The park does look well kept. We had a big pull through sight - but let me say - watch out for the concrete curbs. They have lots of them! It is somewhat tight in the back where we parked. Now to the noise. We can handle the train - which does run ALL NIGHT LONG. What was ridiculous was the traffic on the highway ( trucks using air breaks etc all night) and then the traffic in the park from some very inconsiderate campers starting up motorcycles and heavy duty trucks way up till after midnight. Apparently this place doesn’t have quite hours. If your coming to rest don’t stop here, if your coming to stay up late and play at the springs then you found your spot. It’s not the park’s fault about the train and highway traffic but would definitely recommend maybe planting extra trees and shrubs on that side to deaden the noise some. Just my opinion. And again your staff was super nice!

We stayed in the KOA East Campground 8/10-8/13 site 212. I noticed my wedding ring was missing today, a few hours after heading home. We called and asked if the staff could check the fire pit because after draining my holding tanks, I put my blue gloves in it. We didn’t use the pit otherwise and nothing else was in it. The office said they would look and call me back, that was 6 hours ago. I called back and the girl who answered the phone was very rude, saying how busy everyone is and hanging up on me. I understand being busy, however this is a wedding ring, is it that much to ask the staff to check and see if they can find it? I am very disappointed with the customer service.

We wanted a place to stay while going to lava hot springs and found these cute cabins. we were the only ones there and it was winter so it was nice and quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains and the back deck looked right over the river and you could sit around the fire and enjoy. we even watched a family of deer and a critter traverse the mountain in front of us.The cabin was clean and cozy and the office staff was helpful and friendly. We highly recommend in winter and imagine its gorgeous in summer and is walking distance from 2 different hot springs. it was a very pleasant experience!

Do Not Stay up top. We were assured that we were set back from the freeway, NOPE, Cars and Big Rigs all day and all night. Then there is the trains, they did stop at about 11pm and started again at 6am. People playing and YELLING all day and half the night at the volleyball nets and then The trash bins were emptied at 6:30am. We paid extra for a patio site and this is what we had to deal with in space 220.The lower section looked nice but I am unable to speak to the noise level in those sites. All I can say is be sure NOT to get stuck in the top section.

We love KOA and especially this one. Have stayed here 4-5 times over the last 5 years. The people are kind and the cabins are kept in good repair and clean. You can walk to the hot springs from here. They have great outdoor eating areas at most of the cabins.

Have camped extensively throughout the US and typically I gravitate toward KOA campgrounds for the amenities and cleanliness these campgrounds are known for. This campground does not deserve to have the KOA designation. It is poorly laid out and does not have any amenities for the $130 plus nightly rate. The website claims to have an Olympic size swimming pool, however it is seven tenths of a mile from the campground and costs $15 per person and is not affiliated with this KOA in any way. My sites were "Deluxe Patio" sites and were nothing more than sites close to the entrance and showers with views of a river and the port-a-john and makeshift tarp "home" across the river. I was also not directed to my site and passed by it so backing in our 35 foot trailer was a struggle but my husband did manage after a few tries. I am very surprised that with the high standards I have come to expect with KOA that this campground carries that designation. I would not recommend this campground to anyone.

The tent sites are ridiculously small and NOISY! The location is NOT GOOD for tent camping but the cabins were great (previously stayed in the cabins and enjoyed it). Its RIGHT off the highway, right next to a busy train track (all day and all night) and there were cars driving through the campsites at all hours ( tires rolling over gravel right next to our tent but super small tent sites so very limited on where you could put the tent). The amenities were GREAT though! Probably the most clean and beautiful bathrooms and there is a cute little playground. However, due to the lack of sleep, we will not be camping there again unless we stay in the cabins (which are pricey for 6 people).

This was a clean, pretty campsite by the river with a short walking trail over to the Lava Hot Spring pools. Great friendly service and clean, warm washrooms. The one star deduction was for the noise. The train goes by every two hours and the campsite is by the highway. We slept well and enjoyed the convenience to the Lava Hot Springs.

We camp at this KOA every Spring for 4-5 trips through May. The owners are great to work with. Kanda has been excellent with adjustments with our stays as we sometimes need to work around the weather. Facilities are clean and well kept. We stay in a back-in patio site with our 32’ motorhome.Trains and semis are loud but are not a “deal breaker “. The location on the river and easy walk to town trump the noise issue. Thanks Cody and Andi for making this our go to spot in the Spring!Mike & Kim Rosky

The rv spot was nice with a patio, table and chairs, fire pit, and next to the river. Full hookups 50/30/20 amps. Over 100.00 a night to stay. Discounted tube rentals at the office and you can walk to town. Trains/traffic are loud at night. Overall we would stay again but the price is steep, especially when paying to haul a trailer. Might be cheaper to stay at a hotel…

Paid extra for the cabin with showers yet the water was ice cold and never warmed up. After hiking 16 miles, a hot shower doesn't seem like much to ask for. Informed the staff and they said there was nothing they could do - no apology or offer. Asked them to follow up with management, they said they would but I was never contacted. (I shouldn't have to ask them to follow up, they should've offered it) reached out via email, never got a reply. If nothing goes wrong here you'll be fine, but if something does, this place doesn't care. 0 stars for reliability. Would have at the very least appreciated a partial refund simply for the inconvenience but seeing the lack of customer service, I deserved a full refund for such a rip off. I am a low maintenance customer and would never pull a "karen" because I assumed they would have the decency to reach out. Can't wait to see what the owner of this Google page responds with - pretending to be concerned or pretending to want to fix the problem. Don't be fake. Be better. Give me a call if you truly care about my experience, you've got my number- and my email.

Restrooms are always clean. The staff usually helps with reservation changes. The small cabin rooms could be cleaned better. They are empty but really dusty and there dead bugs. A simple vacuum could fix this. Besides that love this place.Playground: Nice playground.Restrooms: Always clean and stocked.

We loved staying here! The cabin was plenty of room for five of us with a cot! I loved that we had our own spot to park next to the cabin as well as our own fire pit. Everything was nice and clean. The bathrooms were very nice, they are individual rooms with toilets and showers, so a lot of privacy and were very clean and nice. Definitely will stay here again and recommend to friends and family! Staff was nice too.

Wonderful!!!! Great place to take your family or friends lots to do. The cabins are beautiful well kept. The cabins I stayed in had nice kitchen double sink, plates, cups, bowls and silverware(4of each) microwave, coffee maker, hot plate with frying pan ,grilling utensils for use with the large grill on a large deck plenty of seating accomodations on deck. Bathroom was very nice an clean showers are a bit small (the only slight complaint of the whole experience). I would recommend to anyone who wants to get away for any amount of time.

Beautiful area! Not all campsites “backing the River” can see the river (about a 20ft drop and fenced off) and overlook another campground. There’s Not much shade in the new area they just opened. The laundry room is nice. The showers/restrooms were nice, but the floors were pretty dirty compared to all the other KOA campgrounds I’ve stayed at across the country. Overall, it was pretty nice, just don’t forget to pack your shower shoes!

Clean well groomed green area campground. Stayed on 97 back in site. Arrived at 2:20 advised the check in was 3 (rude) I can read the sign. Made us wait until 2:50 to get into site, along with two other campers waiting out front. Site was gravel wide, FHU lots of bushes and weeds in back so unable to see the creek. Train and traffic noise as campground sits right next to the road. Downtown has nothing to do unless you want to rent a tube and float down the river or go to the hot springs. Very disappointing.

The actual site wasn’t terrible. But the customer service is a joke. No wonder less than half of their sites were full. Check out is at 11 and if you need to stay a couple hours later they are not negotiable(we asked them earlier that morning if we could Pay a little more for a couple extra hours). They Rushed us out of our spot like they had a bunch of reservations... on a Monday morning. They admitted there were no reservations for our spot. We were there for 3 extra hours and they charged us an extra $110. Their workers ride around on golf carts nonstop looking for something to do. Obviously overstaffed for the amount of business they receive. Overall not a professional service with extremely lack luster customer service skills.

Leave the dogs at home. Bring the kids. Not a dog friendly park. Charges extra fees - but no extra amenities. We stayed in a normal pull through site. Very rough and barely tended to sites. Looks like all their efforts are put into the new - many - patios sites. The busy railroad tracks abuck the property. So it’s loud - all the time. Plus the kids running around. If you are an adult only group and enjoy quiet (like us) stay elsewhere. If you have a young family - this place is for you!!!!

I want to give it five stars so badly. Cutest location in the universe and great staff! BUT, I couldn't sleep here. The train goes by every hour almost and the highway noise is high..I'm a VERY sound sleeper so I ignored the reviews about that. It kept even me up because we had a dog friendly cabin and it was soooo cute but just loud. I tent camp, so wasn't expecting to be bothered. But something about the location just amplified noise.

Location, cleanliness, and comfort are the main reasons for staying here.We were in a deluxe cabin. They’re right by the hot springs. We were able to take a couple minute walk to go soak. Also, right behind the cabin is the river. There’s a wonderful deck with chairs, picnic table, grill and gas fire. The cabin was warm (has AC for the summer). The kitchen has dining ware, grilling utensils, cutting board, microwave, fridge and a hot plate. The shower had great pressure. I can’t think of a rental where I’ve had a better bed. It was great! The staff was really nice and had great suggestions on where to eat.

Got a cabin with shower. Cabins clean. Beds soft. Shower is hot. Albiet the shower head was too low. Im 6' and it was below my face. Staff is nice. Price was more than the surrounding locations cabins in Lava. It was supposed to have river view. Maybe if you're standing by the grill. You can glimpse it. But you wont be dipping your toes by the cabin or anything like that. The road is closer to you than the river. There is a train track past the Major road. I counted 3 passings of a train between 9pm and 4am. Bring earplugs. I'd guess 1 football field to the tracks and half that to the road. No trees to block road noise planted. As I write this at 821 another one passes. The road is a highway and there are truckers with Jake brakes going whenever they feel like in the 6am period. Traffic was going all night.A recommendation. Build your cabins reversed. The window from the master bed shouldn't look at the road. It should overlook the river. If the bathroom and bunk area were on the road side it would have muffled a LOT of noise.

The facilities were excellent, although we did not use the bathrooms or laundry facilities. Large spaces where we stayed with easy hookups. Pull through sure was great for our 30' rig but may be a challenge for the big rigs (40+).It's right on the highway and train tracks so road noise can be a big issue, but due to the terrain in the valley that is beyond their control. The park is walking distance to the hot springs and town.was only one person in duty to answer phones, staff the store and check in... So it took a while. But he was very friendly and professional.

The bathrooms were definitely the best part, very spacious and clean. The tent site was a little small but okay for the two of us. The major downside was the trains all night. They are insanely loud. It was also misleading to find out that there was no “public” access to the natural hot springs pools at the edge of the river. Some light trespassing and we got there, but was not easy

I stayed in a cabin with my 2 grandchildren, everything was great, until the last night when I woke up to check on my grandchildren. I went to cover them up, to my surprise, bed bugs! I was totally disgusted!! Scared!! Creeped me out!! My daughter had another cabin, we checked theirs, yep, bugs!! We went to the front desk, they were very apologetic, gave us a refund. The next two weeks were horrible! My son in law, daughter, myself and 3 grandchildren bites all over our bodies! Hurt, itchy, miserable! If I wouldn’t have noticed the last night there, I can’t imagine the infestation we would have at our own homes. We left all our bedding, pillows etc…Just be careful, check beds at night, especially the bunk beds!

It could not have been a better experience. KOA grounds were nice and neat. Woman working front desk was thorough in explaining everything and was very friendly. We rented a cabin and it was so charming. We really enjoyed the fire pit. The hot springs and places to eat were within walking distance. My biggest regret was we only stayed one night. we really should have stayed the whole weekend.
