My wife and I just needed a place as a stop-over on a long trip and decided to stay in Lava Hot Springs at Bristol Cabins. We were extremely delighted with what we found when we arrived. The little cabin was cozy, comfortable and clean. The shared bathroom spaces were exceptionally well maintained with never a wait. Lucy (the dog) was sweet and friendly. And the recommendations for what to do in town and where to eat dinner in town were spot on. I have zero hesitation recommending Bristol Cabins to anyone considering a stay.Rooms: Small but cozy. Quiet and comfortable.Nearby activities: Plenty of options when it comes to finding just the perfect hot spring whether it be off-grid, state sponsored, or privately owned. Good selection of restaurants with nary a chain in sight.Walkability: Easy access to town for those willing to stretch a leg.

Had a great stay over memorial day weekend! The cabins are historic/beautiful and the view is as good as it possibly gets in Lava Hot Springs. Collin is truly a kind, knowledgeable, hardworking host and my party and I were very appreciative of him. The breakfast is amazing and is ran by him and his wonderful sister. Couldn't recommend more highly!Walkability: Quick walk (10 mins) to the local hot springs!

I spent a night here with a dear friend of mine and we loved it. Our cabin (Cabin #3 AKA “The Bird Cabin”) was warm and cozy. A thunderstorm rolled in during the night so we woke up to flashes of lightning, roaring thunder and lovely raindrops. It was a magical experience, being under the covers and warm while a storm raged outside.Being at the Bristol Cabins made me feel like a little kid at summer camp, with the cabins and cutesy decorations.Parking was a tad sketchy (you have to get a running start in order to get up the hill), but no complaints otherwise!I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a memorable stay. :)Rooms: The room we stayed in (Cabin #3 AKA “The Bird Room”) was delicate and lovely. It was small, but very cozy and quiet.Food & drinks: The breakfast (consisting of orange juice, potatoes, sausage, and pancakes) was delicious!

On our 12 day road trip, this was by far our favorite stop-packed with fun, unique experiences! Everyone was so welcoming and incredibly kind. My son loved roaming the grounds and making new friends. Great fresh cooked breakfast, great fire dancing ;), a unique one of a kind of experience! Highly recommend. *No air conditioning, parking can be a little tight, but don’t let that deter you from great memories!

Me and my wife spent our 3rd wedding anniversary at these wonderful cabins, and we will definitely be coming back. The cabins were amazing, the staff is great and they made THE best breakfasts. I'm so glad we found this place, cause we plan to stay here every anniversary or any time we want just a quick weekend get away. Thank you very much for making our stay even better than I could've ever imagined!

Anna was awesome! She made me and husband feel like home when we got there! Great business and very friendly. The cabin were cute and small and very home like. It honestly brought back memories of home. When we got there, my husband I couldn’t turn on the heater and we called Anna and she came out to help us even tho she live 10-15 minutes away which was really awesome! I love this place and plan on going back there!!

Great stay in Lava Hot Springs! I was in SE Idaho working and this was a great alternative to another hotel stay. Owners are super friendly, cabins are pet friendly, and it's just a nice, quiet change of pace. If you want luxury, this isn't for you. However, if you want a nice, quiet stay in a historic cabin as a switch from cookie cutter hotels, this is perfect.

We were so happy to find this interesting place to stay. It's tucked behind a camp ground off the main road over a bridge with a beautiful river. The cabins have a nice bed and are set in the prettiest mountainside. The bathroom is large and cozy, they have a cute kitchen and even serve you breakfast the next day. Plus the little town is walkable from the cabins and a great place to check out. There is a public hot springs park, river tubing rentals and places to eat. There's also a nice grocery store in town. Highly recommend!

Cottages were very comfortable, cleaned well. The bedding smelled so fresh I had no concerns if it was clean or not. The owner and staff are all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast they provide is a great way to start your day and it's made fresh as you come in. It was the first time I have vacation with our family dog and I was nervous about it but they made it clear by their actions that he was a welcome part of our family. They we're full to capacity but I felt almost as if we were there by ourselves which was nice. Parking was a little limited but I feel part of that was due to the way people parked and given different circumstances that there is enough for their guest. I personally would have liked brighter lights in the room, but that is personal preference and it was adequate to our needs. I was a little worried about the shared bathrooms but usually there was no wait and they were kept very clean. I have already recommend Bristol cabins to several people as they asked how our trip was. Thanks for the great time!

Bristol cabins are unique and endearing, a must-see/stay/experience if you’re looking for a trip back in time in quaint, cozy, and rustic but comfortable cabins in a rural tree-lined haven along the Portneuf River in Lava Hot Springs just outside the hustle and bustle of the small town yet close enough for easy access. We booked our stay through Airbnb. We came for a quick overnight stay from Salt Lake City, Utah area. AnnaLeigh’s breakfast the next morning was an unexpected delight! She cooked our eggs to order, perfect over medium, potatoes, biscuits, and gravy. It was delicious and a great way to start our day and end our brief but wonderful trip to Lava Hot Springs and Bristol cabins. We’d love to come back again when we can stay longer and enjoy this unusual, unique and special place.

What a wonderful find! & Annaleigh was lovely to talk with in the morning as well... She cooks breakfast for guests & is an amazing host from the Lava area originally! I stayed in one of their tent cabins for 2 nights & it was absolutely perfect. & I mean perfect, because the weather was very bad & I was nice & dry within my tent cabin (!!) They even had a fun little string of lights that could be plugged in, inside the cabin. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Lava!

They rock! I was there with my autistic son and they were great with him. We were included in the owners fire pit gathering and they were all very welcoming (guests and owners alike). The breakfast was great. Very, very filling and yummy tasting. The cabins are all so cute and authentic miner cabins from the 1920s. Only downside was the cabin sleeping three people. It was a little snug. But I would go back in a heartbeat. Even though we were only there for a couple days it was great and super peaceful. Thank you guys!!!

What a quaint and cute little getaway! The people there are very nice, cook amazing breakfast, and they were very welcoming. They are pet friendly which is a huge plus! We went up here for our birthday (we are only 2 days apart) and it was perfect! <br/>If you are a first time visitor, know that the cabins are very small (maybe 10x10) so dont bring too much that you won't be able to get around! When the other reviews say they are rustic, just know they mean it. Very old school and very quaint but cozy nonetheless. They cook you breakfast in the morning (homemade and fresh!) We will definitely be coming back! Thank you for the great experience!

What a lovely and unexpected experience. We stayed in a tent-cabin on a cold, rainy night and we were warm and dry. We tried out the Lava Hot Springs and that was fabulous too. In the morning, the Bristol couple made us an incredible breakfast. The service was impeccable and the entire experience felt like a comfy, cozy, little adventure.

What a fun funky, and welcoming place. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. HelloThe cabins are quaint clean and comfortable. The river access is wonderful with a nice natural pool and waterfalls. The Hot Springs are right around the corner. The breakfast was magnificent….Homemade banana pancakes, sausage potatoes, and eggs to order in the coolest little cabin with cloth napkins and just such a cool vibe. So much fun!

Cute and adorable cabins with an amazing staff! I've been to Lava Hot Springs many times, and this was my favorite place to stay! I almost didn't want to write a review because I wanted to keep this place to myself! They make you delicious breakfast each morning, and have private access to the river. I will definitely be returning here each summer!

I felt right at home here. The staff (owners) were some amazing people. They was very attentive to us and other guests, made sure we had everything we needed and even let us barrow a little extra because we didn't bring enough. We stayed in a tent cabin, which was very sturdily built. Each tent has its own fire pit and is just off the river so it makes for great white noise. We don't travel offen but if we come through lava again, Bristol Cabins is guaranteed to have us as repeat guests. Thank you for letting us feel so welcomed!

We had a wonderful time here. The surroundings are completely magical. The cute little touches are perfect. The hosts are warm, funny and interesting. The grounds are very well maintained and everyone is friendly. Cabbins are rustic so if you are used to staying in hotels this might not be the choice for you but for us it was perfect. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Bristol Cabins is a beautiful and relaxing place to get away. Tucked away in the trees with access to a great part of the river that is deep. We stayed in the queen bed cabin which was spotless along with the restrooms. The owners and staff are really nice and more than helpful when booking, checking in, and when answering any questions And with a full coarse meal included how could you not want to stay at Bristol. We can't wait to come back!

We spent a week in Idaho and one night at Bristol Cabins. They have different room options we choose a cabin. Around every corner there is something to see and check out. They have a fire pit area, and hammock hang out area, access to the river and a swimming area. We loved all of it it was just what we were looking for cute and rustic after all the hotel of the week. We can't wait to go back.

Fun, charming place. We were here in October so we had the place to ourselves... Not sure about when you're sharing the bathroom with others. Breakfast was simple but good. Roy was kind and was a great conversationalist. Little cabin fit a Graco easy. Would bring a pad for the mattress if you're a light sleeper. Loved having the individual cabin in a beautiful setting. Right off the highway, easy to find, but still feels secluded.

We have a new favorite place to stay in Lava. Great rate for tent camping for an impromptu weekend away from the city. Amazing staff! So friendly and personable. Felt like visiting an old friend. Very rustic and cozy feel to the facilities. Wonderful selection for those looking for a relaxed country feel within walking distance of the springs.

I spent two nights at Bristol Cabins. One night in a tent cabin and one at a camp site. The staff was so nice and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and having fun. The tent cabin is great and the historic cabins look really cozy. The breakfasts and fires at night made for a really great way to meet a lot of cool people. The nice folks at Bristol Cabins offer a really one of a kind experience that you aren't going to find any place else. Highly recommended!
