I walked in the server was quick to greet and serve me with a friendly smile. It went downhill from there. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, the patty was seconds away from being a hockey puck it was so well done to the point of dry. If a juicy burger is too difficult to do, why do they have the cook they do? There were only 2 other tables besides mine, so being behind or busy could not serve as an excuse for the horrid burger.

What a delicious variety and experience! My husband and I been traveling and hiking in the surrounding wilderness and National Forest. We were half an hour away from the town of Kooskia and wanted to stop for gas and food. I was hoping there was some restaurant or bar open to get dinner as my experience thus far is that small town businesses closes early compare to the city. Got into Main Street and parked and googled restaurants that were still open. I saw two which was the cafe and a bar. I'm so thankful that the Kooskia Cafe was still open, serving and doesn't close til 9pm!Such a quaint town surrounded by gorgeous natural nature. The cafe was noticeable and easy to find. Plenty of street parking on main street as well as the adjacent street. Walking into the spacious Cafe, it is clean, well lit, with music playing and there is a restroom. The cafe present much history displayed on the walls which was cool to see and read. The dining area is large, also has an outdoor seating area and can definitely hold a few large parties and families.There is a salad bar and dessert spinning on display which I appreciate seeing what my options are to truly decide. The ladies/servers in front were helpful with my questions and even made great suggestions! I enjoyed listening to the ladies in the kitchen singing and doing their thing, such fun energy!Absolutely appreciate the variety and affordability of the menu and that breakfast is served all day. So of course I ordered us breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert to go! I didn't wait too long at all for my take out, it was dinner time, I wasn't in a rush, there was also a couple large parties dining and I ordered quite a bit of food. The restaurant is open 7 days a week and from 6am to 9pm. The current notice on the door states they are close at 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to low staffing.Definitely a delicious gem! Appreciate the business, availability, professionalism, variety, generous portions and everything was absolutely delicious! We are here twice, because the other restaurant was closed on Monday. Breakfast was basic, but prepared as ordered. Dinner was better, with more choices. He had the chicken fried steak and I had liver and onions. Both were perfectly prepared. The salad bar was adequate. Service was good. And we got pie to go.Vegetarian options: Other than the salad bar, not much was available. The dinner vegetable was corn.Dietary restrictions: Low carb options are limited, so have pie today and diet tomorrow.

Can’t say enough about this little gem! Customer service is too notch, food is excellent! Milk shakes are to die for!I actually forgot to turn in my hotel key and they returned it to the motel for me!I highly recommend a stop at the Kooskia Cafe!

OMG!!! The Chili was amazing!!!! I first ordered a cup, then I had to order the bowl lolI wasn't a big fan of there servers, the 2 servers kept talking. I had to get up a few times to ask for refills, utensils and order more food. The 2 servers kept gossiping. But my food kept coming out quickly.

Have come here a couple of times this week on our trip and we really like it. Dinner was good (fries are YUM!!!) and can back a couple days later for the pie and was not disappointed! Will probably have breakfast here in another couple of days before we leave town. A great place to eat!

Food is usually pretty good. The prices are a bit high especially for the portions, not all the waitresses but the few I’ve had in the past didn’t check on us or really have a nice attitude, not a big deal but it does take a pretty long time to get drinks and what not. Foods good though.

After eating at the Kooskia Cafe twice a week, for the past 3 years ($6k plus), I was asked to provide paperwork to prove J is a service dog, or I had to sit outside. They have never previously ask. In fact, no one has ever asked (10 yrs), because it is a violation of the ADA.J goes everywhere with me, regardless of the business. As a 100% disabled Veteran, on the 4th of July, I am irate and want nothing more than retaliation.This is how J behaves in a restaurant.

Delicious and friendly. We have been traveling and needed internet to accomplish electronic things, we were waited on and taken care of while we sat for at least a couple hours. The wait staff is excellent and the food goes right along with it. Super happy to have made this the place that we stopped

I have eaten here for years. Food is good, staff great. Today I met the cook.Probably a good idea if she stays in the back and keeps her mouth closed.What a rude piiece of work! If it wasn't for the goodness of my past experiences I wouldn't come back after needing to speak with her. When I was in business, if one of my employees spoke with a customer that way, they would have been fired on the spot. No excuse for her tone of voice or rudeness.

The food and setting was very nice, relaxing and worth the drive. The service was slower and not as attentive as one would expect. If you are in a hurry it would have been irritating. However since I was with great company it was enjoyable to just sit and talk.
