The people at this clinic were very kind and polite, and were very comforting when we brought our cat in who had been shot. We called them in the morning and they let us know that we could bring him in when they first opened despite not having an appointment, due to the severity of our cats injury. They helped and walked us through the entire process and were very patient and comforting. Our cat felt very safe at the clinic, and he was taken care of very well. They gave us a fair price and were very understanding about our situation along with making sure we knew how to take care of our cat post surgery. I would recommend this clinic to anyone, they make a scary situation a lot less scary.

I saw Dr Janet Nutting this past week for my cat “ Kit Kat” that is about 12 yrs old. She was diagnosed with kidney failure, that was misdiagnosed at another veterinary office😔 I’m hoping with medications & diet changes to have longer quality time with my cat . I find this office very caring & compassionate for all the animals both veterinarians treat here.

Giving 2 stars because I had great past care for my pet as well as getting an appointment quickly. But unfortunately, thats it for my most recent & my absolutely last experience here.Here's the jest of it.After explaining over the phone my concern about my cat needing an extraction-based off his doctor's previous recommendations here at this clinic, and needing to get a ballpark idea of costs due to my possible inability to afford it at the moment, I was offered a free exam to look at his teeth & get an estimate. I explained several times over the phone all I wanted to do was look at the ext of the 1 tooth their veterinarian said would likely need to go in the future. I could not afford to do anything more. This is not the cheapest clinic & I eventually had to make mention of that because the front desk girl didn't seem to understand that financially I was limited this time...unlike our first few appointments where I was able to pay over $1000 for what my kitty needed. No range or rough estimate would be given over the phone for what the typical charges are for the most expensive, complex extraction to the easiest, least expensive simple extraction.I didn't realize it at the time, but my free check was with a vet tech not the doctor. After 10 min I was handed an estimate for much more than an extraction w/a cost of over $530. I told the lady I couldn't do all this. She proceeded to tell me everything from "this is what he needs" to "he has lesions on his teeth" and finally "I thought you cared about your pet" at which time I was done. And I told her so. I've never been so insulted and made to feel bad because I couldn't afford to do a full dental, bloodwork, etc. .... When I asked her if I could just do the extraction she said no, there wasn't anything they would do if I wouldn't do a full dental.I am a licensed dental hygienist on people & have been in the human dental field for over 20yrs. I have researched extensively regarding my babies health problems & have participated in multiple online feline stomatitis & juvenile hyperplastic gingivitis chat groups where I've shared many many pictures documenting my kitties walk, as well as sharing my tx experience. I am not a vet, but my career is in oral care & its really not very different from humans. I'm not someone with zero knowledge.I believe the scope of a vet tech in Idaho does not include diagnosing in their doctors name either..and using their diagnosis to generate a tx plan. But I didn't mention that as I was too upset over being accused of not caring about my pet & just wanted to leave.I was able to get my kitty in with the vet I use for my dogs today, & he said all he'd recommend was an antibiotic shot & to try a steroid injection, since this had never been done before for him. He also said while his premolar looked iffy, his remaining front teeth looked in decent shape for now-no mobility & no "tooth lesions." In his years of experience he said he would not recommend pulling them.I was really happy about finding Gem clinic & felt my precious kitty got top notch care when I first brought him in. However, I was embarrassed & insulted, & left feeling hopeless & angry today. I don't believe I was treated right & we won't be back. There are other excellent options for veterinarians in our community who not only give great care to your pets, but also care about the owners & meet them where they are financially. A full dental could've been done at a later date. NEVER suggest a customer doesn't care about their pet due to financial constraints. Shame on you!UPDATE 3/4/2024I just received the certified letter pictured below. Wow! I did not raise my voice, curse, or display bad behavior in this office. This just goes to further show how your customer service & attitude towards critique really is. Rest assured, their is no patient abandonment concerns from my end, Gem Veterinary Clinic. I fired you as my veterinary clinic for my cat & verbally stated as much. This was not necessary.

When I first got my puppy, I knew he would have to get shots so I checked around and Gem Veterinary Clinic had the best Puppy Package, that's why I took him there and I've continued with them as they give excellent service and are able to allow me to bring my pets in and leave them and then come back later for them. They work with you. I have high regard for them and would reccommend them to anyone.

My Corgi had a GI blockage and they took immediate care of him. The surgery was quick and fast and he was able to go home that night. I love all the staff. They are the best!!!! And are very fair priced. We have two Corgi's that seem to need them often lol

I was so nervous about taking my dog to the vet. He is an older dog that'd never had any problems so he's never really been in, but he had a really concerning eye issue that we couldn't ignore. My family tends to be on the reactive over proactive side of Healthcare as it tends to be more cost efficient that way. The staff here took such good care of him! I couldn't be happier with my visit!

I will drive 40 miles one way each time I take my precious boy to Gem Vet. There is no where I have found that gives him the care he needs as good as Gem Vet. The staff goes far beyond what you could wish for in medical care for yourself. They understand how much our animals are truly family members. I recommend choosing them over any place in the Treasure Valley.

I absolutely love Gem Vet. The front desk cannot be beat. they are friendly, courteous and always there to help. Dr. Hazel is awesome! She is an expert in her field. She is kind,, patient. and takes her time to explain things in detail which helps me to understand exactly what is going on with my kitty.She is a great teacher and practical problem solver and I always leave with lots of good suggestions to help my kitty have a better life. All of the staff and doctors have always been very professional and helpful. They have always attended to the needs of our dogs and provided us with information as soon as possible. I have in the past and will continue to refer anyone needing a veterinarian to the clinic. This is a great vet clinic. We took our cat to West Vet in Boise over the weekend for an abscess on its throat. They charged us $515 to sedate and ATTEMPT to drain it. They didn't get it drained and sent us home with oral antibiotics telling us it would resolve in its own. It worsened so we took him into Gem Vet. They did the job right for $192 - less than half the price West Vet charged us.

Nova and I love this veterinary clinic. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The office is always clean and organized. My animals are treated and handled well. Booking appointments is easy and the wait times are short. I highly recommend Gem Veterinary Clinic.
