The general store is amazing. I'm 30 now and myself as well as my immediate family and uncle Steve and aunt Nene have been coming down to Elk River for camping since I can first remember- and I always looked forward to coming over and having some huckleberry ice cream before going down to the swimming hole. I myself haven't been down here in awhile now so I can't speak too much about the hotel part, but my family still comes down every summer to stay here and they all tell me how amazing it is. I definitely recommend this place, you'll leave with some amazing memories. ♥️

The general store is a sweet little place with yummy huckleberry soft serve ice cream! We go to the area every year with a group of friends to camp and we have a tradition of stopping in to get huckleberry ice cream before we leave.They have some cute trinkets as well.Walkability: Just a pleasant mile or two walk from several camp spots!

Here is where they have the Huckleberry Ice cream that is so famous in this place, it is kind of softer than I assumed it would be. You see it as soon as u enter the Elk river town and then take a left, the store will be on left side. It is great to have ice cream here if u are visiting Elk River or the Elk River Creek.

Dixie made us ladies feel right at home. Clean rooms, friendly environment and good breakfasts. It's hostle environment (shared bathroom and living areas) encouraged us to mingle with other patrons and forge new friendships. Booked our rooms for hunting season!Centrally located in town, clean, friendly and accommodating. Danya was a great help. We had the Family Room which fit us three ladies perfectly. Will definitely stay again.

The lodge isn’t like a hotel.More like a hostel where everyone shares the bathrooms.Would have been nice for them to tell us how their lodge worked before we paid for a room, instead of waiting till after we booked the room.Had we known, we would have stayed at a different place where we would have had our own bathroom.The room we started in was clean but had outdated carpet. The hallways and stairs alsoShowed years of wear and tear.Also, we had no cell service in town, and there was no Wi-Fi available at the lodge.

Was in town for a night on business- Upon arrival I had to try one of their Huckleberry Shakes! It was so good! I went up to my room and was greeted by a comfy bed and a nice ac unit. My unit had a shared bathroom which I didn't mind at all. There were separate bathrooms for males and females. There was also a full size fridge and a comfy couch and tv in the lounge. This is a great comfortable place to stay!

Where do I start. We went down for the ice fishing tournament. Check in was at 8 am but apparently that doesn’t matter. People checked in all day to fish which seemed unfair. We got up early, drove an hour and half to make check in on time all for a guy to cheat the tourney. He checked in half way through the day and didn’t fish, brought some 3 pound trout from a different lake. He was never announced and they never showed the fish to the public. He was handed his prize money and bolted. So thank you kind sir for ruining it for my daughter and the rest of us. The tournament wasn’t professional whatsoever. We walked down to the local bar/restaurant and waited an hour and half for our food that turned out to be awful anyways. We spoke with the owner and waitress and the only we got was an apology. We still had to pay $100.00 bill for burnt/cold food because they were surprised by the tournament turnout. Rooms were ok but I wouldn’t recommend. There wasn’t enough water to do anything with, no WiFi, the place was very loud because your rooms are by multiple entrances into the place. Everyone shares a common bathroom which is odd. The room pictures on the website are not up to date. The rooms mostly hold twin beds. They’re not very family/ kid friendly. The only thing they had going for them was the breakfast. The staff was always very friendly and helpful but we won’t stay again. It will always just be a day trip now.

Oh man! If you like Huckleberries, than this is the place for you! Huckleberry everything. But the best thing about it is the softserve huckleberry ice cream. They use it for ice cream cones, milkshakes, hucklebluerries (a huckleberry milkshake with a blended up piece of huckleberry pie in it) and so much more! There's also a restaurant and a very small dining area (maybe fits 12 people total). Then, there's the general store side with your basic supplies.

Great small country store milkshakes were top notch has food and booze as well as a small selection of camping and picnic type supplies and some tackle I should say they sell both beer and hard liquor as well as tobacco products...for being in the middle of nowhere the prices were very fair

Elk River Lodge - The last store at the end of the road. Gas, and great little market for restocking. Nice people, and have all the info on the area. Love to camp in the area, and makes me feel good to have tank topped off, for it really is last gas, and endless miles of jeep trails and logging roads. Stayed three nights at the lodge above the store. No need to lock your car or anything else in this place. If you want to get away, camping is over the top, camp sites or just on forestry property, and have never seen it crowded. Town and this Store are little Jewels, and don't forget about a tree that is over 3000 years old, walk among very old grove trees just a short drive out of town on good logging roads. Remarkable country, have seen wolves twice out on the roads and game everywhere.

It was a a nice place with nice people and good ice cream. But nobody wears masks and the prices are expensive. A bottle of lotion was $20.
