Do not stay here!! THEY STEAL AND LIE!! Reserved a room for 1 night as our friends were camping near by. Check in was great, confirmed our stay and paid with a very nice gentleman. We were told we would be able to check in at 2pm but when we arrived at 2pm, we could not check in because the gal who was supposed to be cleaning it, was late to work. No big deal. We went to the camp sight and came back a few hours later for the keys. About 2-3 weeks after, I get a $60 charge on my credit card from them. I call to see why and the girl didn’t know why. First she tells me we “stole their fly swatter” -there was NO fly swatter in the room when we checked in. Then she says it’s because we lost a towel of theirs. Then she says it’s because I reserved for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 night so that charge was for the no cancellations fee. I never booked for 2 nights it was always 1 night and if I did book for 2 night, we would have confirmed or had an issue when I checked in because they would have wanted to charge me for 2 nights. You confirm your reservation when you check in, which we did and was for 1 night and the gentleman charged me for 1 night. This is so unprofessional and literally THEFT. I’d love to speak with the owners but the girl I spoke with over the phone, (who was also the one who couldn’t show up for her job on time) was so incredibly rude and yelled at me and couldn’t understand why I would be pissed about a charge 2 weeks after for things that are 100% not my fault and their fault. the gentleman should have charged me for 2 nights and tried to book me for 2 nights if my reservation was for 2 nights, but it never was. & the fact that they felt comfortable charging my credit card WEEKS after we stayed and giving me no call at all, nor a straight answer for the charge is not okay. Previously to this experience, I supported and loved this little store. I’m actually disgusted with the girl they have working there and the way the owners would allow their employee to treat their guest who did no wrong doing other than confirm a reservation at checkin with THEIR STAFF.

First of all it says no politics on the door as you enter. BUT guess what's on their TV. A political station that you have to listen to through your entire meal! Its sooo annoying. Plus the food isn't very good. Except the milkshakes. Don't bother to stop if you want to relax and enjoy a conversation with friends because you can't with politics blaring ay you.

Talk about convenience in the absolute middle of nowhere! Its the only place for miles in any direction. Beautiful location in Hell's Canyon, friendly and helpful staff, and they have it all! Gas, food, supplies, rooms to spend the night, you name it, it's there.

This is a nice little diner/tackle/snacks store, I mean it's not a groceries store but it has all of your basic necessities for over night camping down at brownlee or even fishing tackle. The diner has really good food, just the other day I had stopped by with some friends after not doing really well at hells canyon and had me a hells canyon burger. The staff there are awesome and polite, felt very welcoming and definitely look forward to more trips out that way. 5 star review for one of our local businesses! 👍🇺🇸

This is an amazing place to visit! The owners work almost every day and everyone there is helpful; even providing fishing advice. The restaurant has great food, reasonable prices, and food service. The little store has a little bit of everything for those items you may have forgotten to pack, including RV, fishing, camping, and food items. There is also bags of ice that are very reasonably priced and needed at the gateway to Hell's Canyon.

We stopped in late in the day on the way back to Richland from a wedding in McCall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The accommodated our group very nicely and catered to our two young grandkids. The food was amazing!

This is always been our stopping place when we're in Hell's canyon. They just sold the store to some new people who are guaranteeing they will put in a full cafe. I've gotten to know Lamar pretty good and he is a great guy. I'm sure he will be missing all the people and his place there and I hope he and his wife find a nice setting to move to.

The Gateway is an experience people should and will ENJOY!! The atmosphere is a place ALL people are invited and able to feel a feeling of a home away from home!! Terri and Lamar are wonderful!! It's a family, couple or individual experience. The food is great! Thanks Terri! The service is great! Thanks Lamar and helpful hired hands! The beautiful landscapes and surroundings display Idaho at its best! Omg! The best time in the Canyon! We left our boat there for the week and went back to the city and came back down for the weekend! Everything we needed was at the store and only tackle we needed Lamar had! Had a blast laughing with Terri while we ate the most amazing food! The Brownlee Burger was amazing!The family recipe baked beans are one of the best! Can't stop drooling thinking of them. It was just a great place to escape the heat, grab an old fashioned huckleberry milk shake and shop local made souvenirs. Can't wait till next summers vacation!

Hey Terry, Lamar, Angel, and Family! Just wanted to say thank you again for the help getting us back on the road! For the people reading this... these people are the best you will find out there!! My friends and I were on a trip with our motorcycles and I hit a rock and popped a hole in my primary (clutch) cover. The hit was devastating... lost all the oil out of the reservoir. It was labor day weekend on Saturday. The good people at the Gateway generously helped me get back on the road. Shout out to Taylor with TD WELDING in Fruitland, Idaho who came in on Sunday labor day weekend to work. Bottom line... the family at the Gateway saved our trip. Could not have worked out better!!!! Had a great time the 2 nights we stayed getting things worked out. Food is awesome!!! We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All fantastic. If your in the area stop in and say hello to some truly good people!! Wont forget your folks kindness!!

Super kind people. Very good service. I was in desperate need of a baby bottle, we went camping and hubby forgot them. Well we went to gateway hoping to find one unfortunately they ran out but what surprised me was the gentleman there went to the back and looked to see if maybe he could find one and even asked around to see if he knew someone who could lend us one. I left feeling very pleased to see how sweet that gesture was. And even tho i left empty handed i managed to find a family at camp who lend me one. Bless them all. Life savers! Thank you!

We stopped in this morning for breakfast since it's recently reopened with new owners. Homemade biscuits and gravy were fantastic. Large portions and inexpensive too. Yum.

Terri and Lamar are so wonderful! We ended up staying for about 2 hours. The food was great, Terri's homemade Beans are to die for....Great food, great people, stop by and check it out...
