This quaint little diner is a diamond in the rough of tasty restaurants along the I-84 heading to Oregon and beyond. Their food is so good and such a huge step above the typical fast food offerings in the area. Keep going past Caldwell another 15 minutes and pull off at the Sand Hollow exit. Comfortable, very nice people and really great food. I stopped in yesterday for a burger and salad. I was not disappointed! Perfectly cooked hamburger, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and a crispy spring salad made my night. Seriously, hit this spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's worth it!

I like the place and the people. There was a bit of wait time at the beginning, after getting the menu & drinks. The waitress lady was nice. And the gentleman who took over was kind. My food was great! Though everyone has a "preference".And my sister wasn't happy, and left her meal behind. Her hamburger seemed more raw than usual. But did notice one side looked more cooked than the other? The gentleman was quick and on his feet and wish we were better at mentioning the extra sauces at once, instead of him going back and forth 3 times. Which I appreciate him doing. As a tip for customers, the straws are next to the fountain drinks, ask for your silverware, sauces etc. And if you want your meat/burger fully cooked, make sure to say as they're taking your order. 💕 or else they automatically cook at medium.

My sister, brother in law, and myself stopped for a bite to eat. The waited for a few minutes before the waitress came to take our order. We were thinking she'd bring us some silverware when she brought our drinks but nope. Apparently you have to ask for them. When our food came it all looked good, looks can be deceiving. My hamburger was so undercooked and I had it sent back. It was still raw!! The waitress nastily told me that they cook their hamburgers at medium and if you want it well done, you have to tell them. Well I would think that me sending it back and saying " my hamburger is raw" they'd get the clue that I don't want it to MOO at me. She was rude and didn't even offer to take off my meal that I didn't eat.Very poor customer service! I don't recommend eating here. Too greasy, too expensive $14 for a plain hamburger!McDonald's is better than this place!

This is a cozy little place in Sand Hollow that makes most of its breakfast foods from scratch. The prices are reasonable, the food was tasty and the atmosphere felt like quintessential small town America. Nice to have a Cafe like this up the road from us since there's not much else around for a ten mile radius.

A great place to take time and enjoy delicious, fresh food. Front and back of house work well together to exceed the needs of an enjoyable experience. If it has been awhile since you have been in, the new ownership delivers fresh locally sourced food.

Either my taste buds were affected by Covid or the cook was having a bad day either way after I was told that the cinnamon rolls were fresh I took a bit and it was a little hard so I had my husband take a bit and then my cousin. After getting there opinion I said something to the sweet server Courtney and she proceeded to mention it to her boss and her boss refused to refund the cinnamon roll after she gave us a dirty look .I would never I mean ever recommend anyone to take there loved ones to this place it has been by far the absolute most awful experience I've had food wise !! I'm sure the server makes that place have the reviews that it has cause it definitely ain't the food or the lady leasing the Cafe .

I love this little store! Vaughn the owner is such a kind sweet guy and Megan at the register is super friendly. The restaurant also is awesome had biscuit and gravy breakfast and it was the bomb!!

Fun little mom and pap shop. On our way home from the Oregon Coast we stopped here for a bathroom break. There is a lot to explore here - they have everything from snacks, toys, clothes and even office supplies 😂There is even a restaurant on the south side of the store. We didn’t have time to eat but the menu looked good. The staff behind the counter was very friendly. Also, don’t forget to mark their map on the place you call home.

We went for breakfast and it was great! Forgot to take pictures because as soon as my plate was put in front of me, I dug right in! Eggs Benedict is always a must and it was delicious. There were pancakes on the table, but not for long. Fluffy but they have a perfect crispy edge. Our waitress had the perfect balance of attentive service and table check-ins without disrupting us. I loved the atmosphere! It's a restaurant, Truck top, market and gas station. Chill vibe, good people, great food and service. Will be back to try other menu items!

The people running the restaurant are new. They also own the local food truck called "The Sammie shack". Which has been a personal favorite of mine for several years. Yes, it is true... the sand hollow Cafe now has a trained chef running the place and she knows what's what. I have attached a picture of my lunch today. It was probably the best sandwich I've had in a year. The breading on the chicken cutlet was crispy to the last bite and the chicken was juicy and very tasty. Yes that is coleslaw on the buffalo chicken sandwich. Highly recommend. Will be back again soon. I understand she will be selling homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning. I will be there tomorrow morning to get mine.

I eat at the cafe about twice a week for breakfast, or lunch. The food is always very good and the servers are attentive and friendly! It is a great place to stop, refresh and sit down for a nice meal. The store is well stocked and the ladies at the register are always nice to chat with. I'm picky about what I like and dislike, so I'm appreciative of a local spot that serves good food with great service!

It's not the newest establishment... But it's cozy!!!Food was good... Got a bacon cheeseburger, crispy chicken sandwich and sidewinder fries. Fries were amazing. Waitress was entertaining and friendly. Cashier (I'm guessing owner?) was friendly. Great little quick stop to grab a bite!Thank you!!!!

The food was prompt and tasty, not a giant menu, but for a small diner it's fine. Seems like they remodeled a bit and opened it up. I like the change. Would definitely eat there again if I'm back through there at lunch time.

Glad to have found this place! The building is older so the structure and bathroom were expected but very clean! I appreciated the nice lady at the cash register helping me find what I needed! We also grabbed a pastrami and egg salad sandwiches which were delicious!! And they also had homemade muffins and the blueberry I had was so good!!!The snickers bar I purchased was cheaper than a flying j rest stop! Woohoo! Thanks!!!

Good spot to stop and eat, especially taking the back roads doing some bird watching on a nice and quiet Sundays! Stopped in and had a southwest burger and finger steaks and turned out good, couple touch finger steaks but other than that Quiet and enjoyable time.

Beware!! The folks are nice, but the place was filthy. I mean really dirty. The food didn't poison us but it wasn't cooked until done. Toast was barely toasted, and butter put on cold bread. Hash browns were barely cooked, not browned at all. My over easy eggs were almost raw. Whites were clear and runny. I would recommend you go somewhere else..

This WAS THE GO-TO for BREAKFAST, LUNCH n DINNER for the past 4 years...UPDATE....Cafe---The prices have doubled, the Food & Service strait SUCKS under the new cafe "management" this is place is atrocious. The shack sauce will put on the toilet for a few days....I highly Recommend driving another 12 miles to the SunRise cafe in Middlton, ID.....10x better food, service & bang for your buck....
