The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is beautiful. I had a wonderful adoption experience. I really appreciated the help introducing our dog and the dog we wanted to adopt. It really helped ease my mind about adding another pet to our home. I couldn't be happier, and the pooches agree!

Great people and outstanding customer service and support, I got my puppy Jonas from there almost a year ago and now he is about to get a sister the same age and will post her pic on here after we get her and just added Bella to he photos and Jonas is loving the new member of the family thanks guys!!!

Really great facility and very attentive, caring staff. It's nice to see so many people dedicated to helping these furry kids find new families! It's great that the info for each is clearly presented, so that you can see the background and specific needs for each. Makes it easier to help find which one is a perfect fit for your family.

I adopted a puppy and they had her fixed,chipped, and shots all up to date for $125 and shes an absolute sweetheart she loves her forever home. You guys are doing great work keep it up.👍🏻🐾 Formerly Creampuff she now lovingly adopted Kimber as her new name.

A stray cat we were all very fond of was transferred from WestVet to IHS. He had been badly hurt and they gave him the best chance possible. He wasn’t going to get better so it brings me peace knowing he was surrounded by loving people in his last moments. I’m so grateful the staff kept in contact with me, and remained so nice and understanding, even when I had regrettably become difficult due to worry. After everything, they even asked if he had a name so they could put it in the file for him. It means a lot to me because they made me feel like he wasn’t just a number. Thank you so much IHS. I truly believe he was in the best hands. Rest in peace big buddy ❤️

This is the newer Humane Society location. The reception area on the adoption side of the building was my destination to purchase a dog's license for the city of Boise. The building was beautiful, quiet, calm, and extremely clean! The gift shop had great t-shirts, nice quality dog collars and leads, and the cutest toys for cats and pocket pets. The staff member who helped me was friendly, engaging, and helpful! She quickly set up my dog's profile and in no time my canine was licensed and legal in the city of Boise! (Dog licensing is the law!)

Best vet care and approach I have experienced! They do not nickel and dime you, friendly knowledgable staff that is super quick in and out! We took our cat who hates to leave the house for a check up and instead of ordering X-rays and all types of things, they want us to try a cheaper way at home to see if this is just a behavior/stress issue. They itemized the costs if we do need to come back in a month (if the behavior doesn’t change). I am so thankful because even their itemized bill for what will be needed is a better rate than the vet I went to 2 years ago in Eagle! I will be back and come here for all of our cats now. It was a clean, wide open space and I felt cared for here!

I used to love this place in fact the dog detailed in this post was adopted from this humane society. We called today because our dog has become aggressive towards our other dogs and we were needing to surrender him ASAP for the safety of the other animals in the home. I was given minimal help and when my husband called the same woman answered and not only was just as unhelpful but tried to say it was just food aggression, we tried to tell her no. Because he’s never been like this about food toys or treats and we don’t think that’s what caused it. And she was extremely condescending to my husband. well it’s been a few hours and he went for the dog again when she slipped through the door with no food or treats or toys involved and now we have an animal in our home that you will not take back even though he is an extreme danger to the other animals in the home. He left puncture marks on the dog this time. The fact that we had such rude and unhelpful service in a time where we genuinely needed help and guidance is disgusting and I’m praying nobody else has an emergency rehoming and gets stuck with these people. I hope you guys figure it out and become the place you once were again because it seems rude staff wasn’t just an us issue by any means. I also apologize for getting angry on the phone but we were not being helped or understood and this is an extremely stressful spot to be in.

I was looking for a buddy for my senior dog. There were two senior dogs that I had my eye on. I met them both on Tuesday and that following Saturday, I got to introduce my dog to his future buddy. The staff was good. They were present from start to finish. I left that same day with a new addition to my family. It's been a little over a week now. So far so good! Def. Recommend.

We adopted a dog here and were assured he was not aggressive and good with other dogs. Within 2 days of having him home he bit a person in the face and has attacked/bitten any dog he comes in contact with. We love our pup but this facility misled us to try and push an adoption that we would not have agreed to.

It’s been a long time since we’ve adopted an animal, but we had talked about getting a cat for some time. Since we had recently moved to a larger home and more rural area with lots of room, we felt the time was right. We took a look at the IHS website and read the descriptions of many of the cats. I didn’t really want a kitten, so we focused on the older cats. We found one that was described as very friendly and extroverted. That seemed about right and Sylvie was just as described. She didn’t mind being picked up or touched and although we did look at others, I knew right away that she was right for us. It’s only day two, but she seems to like it at our house. She’s still getting used to things and to our dogs, but things seem to be going well. All in all it was a great experience and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They gave us a few items to help Sylvie’s transition to her new home and someone donated $20 toward her adoption, so that was very nice. I would recommend that anyone who is thinking of getting a dog, cat, rabbit or cat even a hamster or gerbil check out their site first. The descriptions give you a good idea of what you can expect and highlight the things you’ll want to pay attention to or consider when choosing. Ask them what food they are giving and maybe even litter or other items as it will help and they will gladly assist you.Edit/Update: 3/7/23 Sibie is doing great and she is such a part of our family now that we can’t imagine life without her. She is quirky and sweet and feisty and perfect for us. It’s hard to believe that somebody returned her to the shelter, but we are goad they did. Maybe they weren’t ready for her, but she has her home forever now. 😊

I had a neighbor that bread pitbulls while on food stamps for her six kids and also opened an illegal day care, the pitbulls were aggressive and attacked my fence, got out often and they refused to put a gate on their fence. I brought groceries in my kitchen turned around and the pitbulls were in my house! I have a 150 lb Belgian Malinos x Great Dane, these people at the humane society wrote I was the problem when my dogs weren't at large. I guess they also don't know about the "neighbor nuience law" that if your neighbors are a problem you have to list it on the first page as a disclosure or you can be sued. They dragged me because the Idaho Humane Society couldn't find a citation yet I was able to get it 3 years later from a Sargent. I should sue them for damages and defamation because they aren't even useful idiots that help the community. I ended up moving due to the Human Society not handling these dogs that were always charging the fence or getting out. I'm considering a defation case because their employees have more opinions than skills.

The time I spent here was one very nice experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful in locating the future pets that were in their care. This facility was extremely nice, and everywhere I went while inside was terrific. I would highly recommend visiting this wonderful facility.

Adopted Stella A 2 Month old Kitten Apparently born at the Shelter. Yesterday. She's Partially Litterbox Trained. Settled onto Her Forever Hone With Me Quite Quickly. Bought Her this Ball Which Appears Identical to the one on Her Cage She played with ! Now She goes Oh That old thing ?? And plays With Everything Else Including Me ! She's Very Happy & Friendly to All My Friends.The Idaho Humane Society Did A Great Job With the Her and We Quite helpful in my Semi-Complex Adoption Situation. I'm A ,,61 Senior with $0.00 income butA High School Friend & Her Husband were Willing to Help With Adoption Fees & Starter Supplies for This kitten. The Transaction was done Electronically and Was Completed pretty Fast. Apparently this Situation Doesn't Occur Frequently ? We rescued a dog from this kennel. Definitely wasn't the most sanitary environment. They didn't send us home with any meds for kennel cough or diarrhea which he had both when we got him. They have a 14 day post adoption med request link. I filled out and submitted the form 3 times for meds with confirmation and no response. 13 days later I still have a sick dog and no meds. Would have taken the dog to a different vet if I would have known they wouldn't respond to their own form.

Always kind, thoughtful and informative! I love these guys and the many programs thru them! Their pet pantry has been a blessing indeed! Today I asked if they had info on companies that would come to your home when it's time for end of life help so your precious fur baby can be in the comfort of their home when that time comes. The poor dogs look like they haven't eaten in a few days. There were feces everywhere! It was nasty in there. My shoes were sticking to the floor. Ugh. And the costumer service was horrible. Very snotty and disrespectful. All of the girls I've talked to were so snotty and rude for no reason. I stood at the desk for 20 minutes while being ignored by a girl who wasn't doing anything. And again in the dog canal, ignored for ten minutes. I asked to take out a dog, and the young lady asked if I was over 18, I'm only 17 but the sign says 16 and older.A few of the dogs would hang their head when a worker walked by. Broke my heart many times. Seems like they're not getting treated well by these rude employees. These poor puppies and cats just want the love they deserve.

I’ve always loved this place since I was a kid but lately the staff has been very rude to my partner and I. We have been coming in trying to find the right companion for us and we are getting dirty looks and whispers and attitude from all staff. One of them asked “ are you just here to see dogs or are you actually going to adopt one “ how rude ? I replied with “we are actually just trying to find the right dog for us thank you “ anyways I hope somebody talks to them about their attitudes because it really shouldn’t be this way.

We had a great experience! We adopted a kitten yesterday. Juliet was so helpful with our selection process.We love Burton and glad he’s a part of our family. The adoption fee is more than fair, he’s vacationed, nurtured and had his own blanket and box. The toys at their store are a great price as well. Our family adopted a beautiful, sweet, healthy 2 month old kitten yesterday at the Idaho Humane Society. It was such a positive experience from the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff until we left with the perfect new addition to our family.. a kitten we've named Sage!! Highly recommended!! Healthy, vaccinated, neutered, or spayed and chipped pets for an affordable fee! A perfect adoption place to meet your next forever furry family member!!! We also loved the little pet store where we loaded up on everything from a new feeding dish, toys, a collar, and even a new name tag made right on premises. Pet adoption heaven!

I love this place. The staff is amazing and we were able to adopt a new little girl for our family the same day. We found a perfect fit for our family. We already had 2 little dogs but we really missed our kitty who passed away a couple of years ago at the age of 17. We walked in and found a wonderful 3 yr old female named Sakura, who is extremely happy in our home. There are so many wonderful pets in need of homes. So glad we came here first!

Two years ago we adopted our cat Monster. Not only has she been the best thing that has happened to us but whenever we’ve needed any of her original paperwork or anything the staff has been incredibly helpful. Also we adopted her in May of 2020 and even with Covid the adoption process was so easy and painless. I’m just horrible at remembering to write reviews.

The people at the Dorman location are such idiots. I found a hurt cat on the side of the road in Canton county, my daughter had a Dr. Appointment in Boise. So I took the cat to Boise because I live in Melba and didn't want to drive all the way to Caldwell after my daughters appointment. They would not take the cat and help it. They refused. If any animal is brought in hurt, fix the poor animal. You people say that you care, but you don't. Thanks for nothing you idiotic excuse for a human.

Keep getting different answers when inquiring about low income discount, and the answer seems to change often depending on who you talk to. They do not allow payments. Requires deposit to schedule. Vet we seen was friendly and efficient was just a basic cat checkup.
