I love the city of rocks!! We go every year and the family just has a blast! There is lots of rock climbing, hiking and plenty of nature. They have alot of restrooms which is great. Everything is maintained nicely as well.

Amazing park to visit. Very beautiful and interesting with lots of trails, camping spots, variety of rocks to climb or just have a good look at and appreciate the beauty of them. Some great historical sites to see and have a first hand look at like very old California Trail Travelers Names written on stone with axel grease that's still visible. Lots of great nature to appreciate and view as well

If you're into rock climbing, this place is for you. I went for a quick weekend getaway and got a few hikes in. It's also dog friendly! There are lots of cactuses near the trails so be mindful with your pup.The staff at the visitor center were SO friendly and helpful. They helped my dog get into the bark ranger program. We did the bark oath and all. I loved that they entertained me with all of that. I am definitely planning on going back when I have more time to explore.

The California trail passes through here. Thousands of travelers on their way to and from California took this trail. The rock formations are very unusual and it is a world class climbing destination. You can still see travelers names written with wagon axel grease. There is a hot springs in the small town of Almo which is great after a long day of hiking or climbing.

Rangers were extremely helpful and informative helped us choose a hike. This place is a national treasure, reminds you this country is worth fighting for. Deserves a week of attention, not just the afternoon we had so we'll go back.

I stopped by here pretty early and the office was closed but there was plenty of information outside. I walked along a trail and learned a bit of history and checked out the old wagons that start to give you a feel for what it might have been like for the early settlers. There is a pit toilet on the edge of the parking lot.

The City Of Rocks Visitor's Center in Almo ID is a must stop prior to beginning a your adventure in City of Rocks National Reserve. The people who work for Idaho Parks & Recreation are passionate about their job and their enthusiasm is contagious. There is a cute gift shop within the Visitor's Center where you can buy t-shirts and hats with City of Rocks embroidered logo. Please take the opportunity to watch the 10 minute video explaining the origins of the City of Rocks and the majestic must-see sights in the park.

Really surprising experience. We went for the NPS Stamp, and came away with so much more fun. What an experience the early travelers must have thought of this area of rock formations.

Great location to get information on the City of Rocks or make a reservation. They sell copies of the climbing book (if you are climbing, you should buy one). For those people camping and wanting a break from the dirt of the city. This place has a grass lawn you can nap on, a place to refill your water (it tastes kinda weird) and a bathroom.Very friendly staff and they sell a collection city of rocks tourist stuff.

This place is beautiful! There were A LOT of people here. There is a little visitor center, a campground that can have RV's, and a lot of "walk-in" tent camping..

Great place to stop and learn about the area! Grab pamphlets on mountain biking climbing and camping! Do you want to do it all! Staff was friendly! There is also water and a small garbage can. Only one person is allowed to be on staff at a time, due to Covid, just FYI. You can buy a few things there like stickers etc. Parking lot was half full when we were there, but plenty of parking.

This is a very fun place for kids, but there aren't a lot of bathrooms. So it is a little hard with kids, but what isn't hard with kids? The visitors center gave my kids a Junior Ranger project that they loved. Fun place.

Something we did not expect was to thoroughly enjoy this visitor center. The ranger serving at the center when we visited, we are completely blanking on his name, was amazing. He knows absolutely everything, including all the little details of favorite camping spots depending on your interests, best trails and the best direction and times of day to traverse them, everything. We watched the movie when we first arrived. Don't bother, just talk to this ranger and he will blow your mind with his knowledge and stories of the area. We even found out why it is a national preserve rather than a national park. I'll let you give out that one for yourself. This trip was merely a scouting trip, so when we go back we will have a basic idea of what we're doing. However, with the knowledge gained at the visitor center we figure we will reserve our spot and then on the first day so in at the visitor center. We will plan our whole trip then and there in the visitor center. That's how awesome this visit was.

A site to see. Miles of hiking trails. Trails could be labeled better. Very few signs have the length of the trail.

What a beautiful place. A bit of a drive e, but well worth it. You can take your dog on most of the trails. See a bit of history at Register rock where the wagon trains went through and signed their names.

When we first moved from Utah to Idaho I was used National Parks like Zions, Arches, Bryce, and Canyon Lands so City of Rocks underwhelmed me and I was disappointed. BUT, now I love it for it's charm and history. It is great for hiking, climbing, camping and limited fishing nearby. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It is a great place to visit.
