This burger was HUGE! And the flavor was amazing. This was the double black and blue burger. I should have gotten a single. It was so much food. Good thing I did a really hard bike ride at City of Rocks that morning. Service was friendly and attentive. Casual atmosphere for a steakhouse, but worth coming back to visit. And that burger was an incredible value.

Upon entering this restaurant my fiance and I were excited to try this place. We were told to sit anywhere. When asking the waitress about the food, she informed us that she's never eaten the food there. She couldn't tell us anything about the menu. We ordered and began eating. The waitress came over shorty after and asked us to move tables. Another party wanted our table. We said no because it's too much of a hassle.She never came to the table after that. We had to get our own drink refills, steak sauce, and salt and pepper.Worst service I've ever had. Don't recommend this place. AVOID!

It was fine, nothing special. One of our burgers was underdone, fries were good, baked potato needed more sour cream which I never got, rootbeer float came when we were close to leaving, and we got a cake pop which was disgusting, it didn't even have cake inside. Well, it's good enough for a little town, though.

I had a bad experience with the Almo Outpost on Mother's Day. I planned to have lunch there after hiking at City of Rocks and checked on the website to make sure they were open. When I got there at 12:30 PM, there was a note on the door saying that they would not open until 2 PM that day. So, I drove away and came back after 2 PM, and only after entering the dining room, was presented with a sign saying that they were only serving people with reservations. So, they wasted my time and gas, and left me with no place to eat. The food might be great, but I'll never know.

We were looking forward to this steakhouse for months after planning our trip. It did not disappoint. The ladies working - Krista and Holly - were so kind and friendly. We ordered NY strip, dutch oven potatoes, salad and homemade chocolate cake. It was amazing. Cooked to perfection! We loved it so much we went back again for cheeseburgers and steak sandwiches with the fries. Those were also incredible. Loved the atmosphere and food.

Ate here because it was this or the pizza place. Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Ordered the rib eye mid-rare and it was perfect. The meat was very tender and well marbled - salt and pepper was the only seasoning fit for this delicious cut. The loaded baked potato was good as was the specialty dessert (forgot the name). The only downside was the broccoli was over-cooked old-school mid-western style but that's a forgivable minor faux pas especially given the excellence of the main attraction. Highly recommended.

We ate here on 8/17/23 and both got food poisoning. Pretty sure it was the cheese steak sandwich--I thought it had a vinegary flavor but assumed it was just whatever sauce they used. All we ordered was a sandwich, loaded baked potato, a piece of pie and steamed veggies (which we ended up returning because they were very sad). Overall we thought it was very overpriced and mediocre but the service was great. I would not have left a review just based on mediocrity but we spent three days sick and in pain and unable to do anything. It was miserable. Avoid this place.

Ordered smallest hamburger and tots. Ended up with huge cheeseburger. looked like a double burger. Pulled it in half then pulled cheese off. Meat had good flavor. The fries and tots were too greasy they really needed to change oilin fryer it looked and tasted like. Only had ales every kind imaginable but no regular beer like cook or bud. Very disappointed. Waitress and everybody extremely nice and did not take long to get food.

I've been to this place a few times over something like 30 years. I always order the Ribeye, Dutch oven potatoes, and Pioneer Pudding.Well upon my latest visit, I enjoyed my Steak, the Dutch Oven Potatoes were ok, but seemed different. The biggest disappointment was they had no Pioneer Pudding. I had previously always looked forward to this meal, this time however it was just a meal and nothing special.I will say, it was early October and quite possibly just a slow time of year and hard to plan for.

My partner and I spent a week around City of Rocks and ended up going here one night to eat while it was raining. Boy, what a mistake that was!I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich, which I figured would be a safe bet from a steak house. Something seemed a bit bizarre about the flavor when I was eating it, but didn't think much of it at the time. I chalked it up to some flavoring on the mushrooms and onions and finished anyways. Wrong choice.I woke up the next day to some terrible feeling and violent rumblings in my insides. I'll spare the gory details, but the next 48 hours were spent on the toilet. Completely ruined any times of being able to enjoy City of Rocks, as I couldn't be more than a few minutes from a bathroom at any given moment. The GI pain persisted well into the third day as well.The ONLY, and I mean only redeeming thing from my experience at Almo Outpost is that the waitress we had was nice.The old reviews were apparently when this establishment was under different ownership - the photos of the pies and food in previous reviews are not what you'll be getting.Please, heed my warning and avoid this place at all costs. Unless of course you enjoy spending money to poop your brains out for days on end.

Went spent the weekend at the Almo Inn with the highlight hoping to be the Saturday family dinner. And it was perfect. There were four adults and two kids. My wife loves lobster and the lobster was perfect. The staff was great and attentive. Everything was cooked and delivered efficiently and prompt. They place is a family owned place and the care was great . I had a business and my kids worked for me. It made them successful. It was nice to see this . And if given the chance make sure you get the pioneer pudding .... It topped off the meal perfectly.Kid-friendliness: There grandkids were treated well and kept happy. Was nice

I was very happy to hear that the Steakhouse is open again. When my husband and I visited a few weeks ago, we enjoyed the rib dinner and of course pioneer pudding..yummy!! The pudding alone is worth the drive, but the awesome customer service made it totally worth it! We'll be back, again and again! 😊

Stayed local and had dinner two nights. Had steaks both nights. They were cooked to perfection and were great portions at a very good price. The service was very friendly. One of my favorite stops.
