Omg the chocolate and macadamia cookies are amazing!! By far the best I’ve had. Also the deli sandwiches are equally delicious! Highly recommend. 5 minutes from the beach, also recommended!!

Best macadamia nut cookies on the island. I send people here all the time. It's hard for me to not make a stop in here for these cookies. My coworkers LOVE them.I also send people here for the manta ray snorkel.

This is a general store… dive/ fishing store, grocer, deli and more.This review is only for their deli, which makes excellent made to order sandwiches and etc.The quality, quantity and service I got definitely exceed my typical experience at local delis. At the time of writing, their sandwiches were cheaper than Hawaii Subway footlongs.We ordered an egg salad sandwich, and tuna salad sandwich. Generous with filling and plenty of super fresh veggies.I eat plant based and my egg salad was highly recommend. You bite into egg pieces and there is a tinge of cumin in the seasoning. Def along the lines of my preferred egg salad.The team at Blue Wilderness insisted we try their signature cookie. Prob a little too insistent 😜 but glad we did!This choc chip Mac nut cookie is apparently the snack served on their dive tours… lucky guests. Loaded with nuts and chocolate. Halfway between crunch and chewy.I live about an hour from here and so it won’t be a regular visit. But I assure you I am stopping by again. And next time, going for a dive with them too!

Really nice shop to grab day to day essentials and plenty of carry out foods. We went there to grab a poke bowl but they only have those on the weekends so keep that in mind if your going there to grab a bite to eat. Overall, super tiny and cute place

I stopped in on a Sunday at lunchtime craving a freshly made deli sandwich. Unfortunately, there were not offering any freshly made sandwich or pizza (probably because it was the weekend.) I settled for tuna wrap from the cooler. It wasn't bad for a pre-made sandwich. It had lots of tasty vegetable add-ins. Kind of pricey at $10.50 though. They have a nice lanai with tables you can eat at or you can take your food to any of a number of stunning public beaches along this road.

Shannon is the best! He was super helpful and understanding in resolving my scheduling mistake (ALL my fault) with Blue Wilderness Dive Shop and went out of his way to help out. He was so friendly and is a true asset to his employers. The sandwiches and treats and libations that we picked up here were delicious! Between the awesome customer service and killer snacks, The Puako General Store genuinely made our day.

This place has gone downhill since the new owners took over. It used to have friendly staff, good prices, and food you'd want to eat.The current staff is rude, the prices are outrageous, and the food disgusting. There's a reason people who live on the street don't shop there anymore. We know it's worth the short drive to go to Foodland in Mauna Lani or to the shops in Waikoloa resort.

Good selection, very friendly service, but overpriced. If you’re staying on Puako Dr it’s very convenient, but Foodland is about 10 mins away and about half the price.

Great store with super knowledgeable staff. I’ve been diving with Blue Wilderness for years and can’t imagine diving with anyone else. I’ve rented gear here (scuba and snorkel) many times and it’s always current stuff and in great shape. Did the manta dive a few nights back. We had divers and snorkelers in our group. Everyone had a great time. April was great with the snorkelers, Flipper took wonderful care of the divers and Capt. Joe got us to the manta and back safe and sound. Can’t wait till our next adventure with Blue Wildwrness!

I have called in the past to inquire about tank refills and was told that it was possible at this location. So this morning we waited 20 minutes for the shop to open and when we came in we were informed that, no, they do not refill tanks on the spot but it takes 24 hours. Then, I asked if they had a bathroom and was somewhat rudely informed that no they do not have public restrooms. Probably a decent store for snacks and such but I’ve been rubbed the wrong way by the employee there and won’t be returning

For a general store, this place is ideal. The alternative is a twenty minute drive to a larger store, which often enough, is more than is called for. The lady who helped us was extremely helpful and offered us the kind of advice and suggestions only a local (or a concierge) would know. For a tube of toothpaste, a pair of googles, a loaf of bread, or some beer, this is a great and handy little shop with some personality.

The store had a few essentials that we needed but we really wanted some sandwiches from their deli. It's a very unassuming deli but the sandwiches were delicious!! The portions were perfect and even a half sandwich was filling. Yum!!

What a delightful spot! We have visited this area many times but never checked out the community of Puako. So very worth the effort. The General Store is a great spot with basic groceries for same or better price than similar small stores in the steak resorts. Also a nice assortment of tourist goodies - AND a prominent display of reef-friendly sun lotion.

Great little store with all the necessities plus good selection of wines and beach things. They even have gluten free products (not the usual cardboard variety) and dairy free gelato/coconut cream sandwiches. Great resource for this part of the Big Island.

Passing through and stopped here. We each had a sandwich and they were great. Sandwiches were so good wated to try their pizza. We ordered 1 slice to try. Sorry to say the pizza was not so good. But If I am up that way again I would go there again to get a sandwich.

Tourist trap. Service sucks if you're not a rich tourist. No need to stop unless you need a sandwich and something cold to drink. Coffee sucked. I did go back a second time and was given better service. There is also organic vodka here.

Great little store with pretty much everything you need if you are in the area. You can drive right over the Old Puako Road from Hapuna Beach without getting on the highway, which is nice. Friendly staff and decent variety, from ready-made sandwiches to beach gear and beer and wine.

What a delightful little store in the heart of Puako. There is something for every need: a quick snack, maps, beach gear, ice, cold drinks. The lady that helped me was friendly and helpful when I had questions about some of the wine selections.

Live on the Big Island and went to get milk and a roll of paper towels after 69s. This store is terribly over-priced, but I knew that going in. What I didn't see until I got home is that the milk had a Sell By Date of 4/30/2017, and today is 5/7/2017. There was a tiny 1/2 price off sticker on one side of the carton. Of course, when I checked my receipt, they still charged me full price.Stay away. Better go hit up the Foodland at Mauna Lani. At least there they have some standards.

Neat little general store on the ocean side of this cute little town. Prices were not outrageous for a Hawaiian store and certainly not for one in a vacation location. They had just what we were looking for that day and at a reasonable price.
