We got there after closing at 11am. I had been once before and the little thrift shop is full of charm, including the folks working/volunteering. Incredibly friendly and great prices. It is CASH ONLY though . The skate park is enormous and the best one I've seen at any community center yet. Nobody was there the first time, but this trip there were a bunch of people having a great time. My friend & I signed up to volunteer for an upcoming event. We were the only two names 😔My heart sank when I saw the industrial kitchen had been torn apart. Hopefully it won't be that way long.

Local feeling farmers market on Sunday mornings. It was a great place to stop for an early breakfast.Look for the vendor advertising hot plates and get the chicken with long rice! It's a local specialty, reminiscent of pho or chicken noodle soup. The broth is savory made with ginger and garlic. Long rice = glass noodles.Skip the vendor advertising espresso. It was not the greatest. There's a vendor selling pour over volcano coffee which looks more promising.

Couple of things about this place. There is a small farmers market on Sundays and there is a community gathering serving food and displaying local craft and art. There was a small food truck there serving Thai food. We got the Pad Thai and it was super 😋. Also an order of spring roles. My grandson loved it. He is 9. If you are in the area, stop by.

Good Thursday night farmers market. I found some tasty chocolate bars, and beautiful handmade cards.

There are no native Hawaiians selling items but the people who are locals are nice and sell their merchandise with a smile.....

We are visiting from Maryland. This Farmers Market opens really early at 6AM. We came here to get some food for breakfast. The purple color cookies were our favorite! See photos.Everyone here seemed happy and friendly. You can find all kinds of fruits, veggies, and other stuff here and you don't need to drive 40 min to Hilo for groceries.

Attended the Saturday swap meet, and though it's small, I enjoyed talking story with all the friendly locals and checking thru their wares. Good local-style food. The Cooper Center is a gathering place for special community events and workshops, a weekend farmer's market, and a thrift store open throughout the week.

Nice & quiet place where you can meet other members of the community. Either by random chance or arranged meet up. Associates pass out food baskets for the community in need. They also have a small skate park for the kids.

The farmer's market is the same as any farmer's market in the area, absolutely the same tired vegetables by the same, tired old vendors. There may are some rather fresh vendors, but all in all a waste of gas to go all the way there. The powers that be have decided this venue should close at 10 am, if you're local that's fine, but to drive all the way up there is not worth the exhorbant price if gasoline on this island. The prices at the thrift shop for clothing are almost worth the trek up there, but there are limited sizes and no concise place to pay. Personally, I found it very disappointing and trufully a waste of time.

Went for the Sunday morning farmers market. I was confused at first because it seemed sparsely attended & I'd heard it was large. However, I'd only seen vendors under the covered basketball/skate/recreation area. There is a LOT more going on in the main building. All the vendors & locals were kind. The produce was lovely, large & affordable. There was a nice assortment of other types of vendors. A great cook to order breakfast kitchen & the book/thriftstore were open as well. Picnic tables to eat & enjoy the scenery. It's much cooler in the Volcano area so you could easily tell who was a tourist vs. a local by the jackets & tank tops. lol. Highly recommend. I didn't make it to Thursday night market but hear it's even better.

Much of what it once had is either broken or removed now. The skatepark needs repair, the play ground has 50%+ it's items removed. There bathrooms and people are nice but the playground could really use some renovations like Adventure Park in Waimea or Kamakana in Kailua-Kona. It would be great if people in South and East Hawaii Island had a nice playground without having to drive 100 miles to the other side of the island.

Checked out the bustling Sunday morning market in the pouring rain. It was fun! Great prepared options alongside fruits and veggies and all kinds of crafts. Not huge, but surely worth a visit

The greatest place for children to get outside and play in Volcano! From the toddler playground, the rolling grass for riding bikes, to the all wood covered skate park! There is nothing like a sunny day around the grill and picnic tables! Friends for a lifetime are easy to find here. Dont forget to bring twice as much food and sodas! Resident skate park manager and super uncle Eddie is your go to guide for a cool day at the park!

Wow, I love the farmers market! Especially the meat stand. Someone please tell that family they are angels! They helped me craft a perfect birthday dinner for my husband. The people working the table selected Kahlua pork and the Lau Lau, even gave suggestions on what to pair it with. I also got their pineapple cake for dessert. The pork was seasoned to perfection, easily the best I've ever had!

Breathtaking ferns and Ohia! Our kids enjoy the playground and large grassy area to run around. The skate park is well maintained and lots of fun. Always less skeptical looking than the one farther down the mountain. And bonus free wifi!

This is a wonderful community gatheringvspace. There is a small thrift store which helps support many local causes. We have dances, friends feeding friends, senior groups, a swap meet and a farmer's market. Holiday parties too. For the kids there is a play area and a skate park.

A friendly place to recharge regroup and get reoganized. You can find needed items at their store but limited to availability. You can get needed free food from the foodbasket almost any time while open.Their pavilion is always open and lit at all hours for a safe environment to recharge your phone. Restrooms also available till 6pm.Thank you Cooper center but do not leave anything there and expect it to be there when you get back.

I go here for the Volcano Farmers. Even during this pandemic we still have this available, there is social distancing and masks are required. The products sold here are AWESOME and fresh! The Vendors are friendly and they remember you. Always good to support local, by the way the ready to go meals are AMAZING! Because of the where it is located be prepared for some chilly weather.

Whenever I come visit Hawai'i, I stop by the Volcano Market to visit with old friends and shop the local booths. I love the fresh fruit and food that I find at the market. This community is extremely friendly and kind to visitors. When at the market, we always feel extremely welcomed and appreciated. Keep up the great work and variety of vendors.

The Sunday farmers' market is where you can find everything you need to make a locally grown meal. You'll find dozens of fruits and vegetable from the Big Island, including locally grass fed beef. The avocados and sweet papaya are my favorites, and I don't even like papaya!

I love cooper center. I just discovered the thrift store in there, which is quite hidden, btw. I love it, the most delightful and caring woman, Le works there. Please visit, be respectful and donate cool stuff and get some other. Aloha 🌺

We (us 5 kupuna's)set out that day to look for garage sales and noticed Cooper center had, so we ended up up at Volcano, and we were in Hilo. Turned out we enjoyed the sales and can't wait to go back again. We will be checking on anymore sales so we can go back again. Loved it!

This is the heart of the volcano township. Many multiple events take place daily weekly and annually. Children love the, teens love the skateboard, and there's pickleball for the rest of us.
