We ate in today and really enjoyed the sandwiches and their burger, the portions were not huge but we're a good size for lunch.I would highly recommend stopping by on the way through to black sand beach. Much better than the bakery over the road which we ate ate the day before.You can eat in, takeaway, outside, it is very kid friendly!Thanks!

Small rundown Cafe. Wasn't pleased upon entry. Lots of notices. Bad service and food was average.The day I went, only pizza and sandwiches were available. Pizza was average.Pizza. Was not cut. No pizza box for left over. Had to stack it on top of each other in a random to go box.Drinks are in cans. Not Fountain.I would not go again.I want to include the response from the business in case she decides to change it.Response from the owner 24 minutes agoIf you didn’t want pizza why did you choose to stay. You were offered a box and declined. Notices are to let you know our policies and what is “food inbound”? I must say I’m glad you won’t be returning we are a small place and would rather have appreciative guests enjoy rest of your imperfect day. BIG SMILE.

I had a Lehi fish dish that was so tender I thought Thanksgiving was today. It had a mag raisin sauce! The chicken salad and potatoes were great. Best lunch we’ve had on Big Island The restrooms are worth visiting just for the mural art and cute signs!Parking: Huge lot

The food was pretty good, but the lady working was really rude. She asked us to save our forks, main course and dessert. The pies weren't that good, and when I asked to microwave then, she said that they don't have one. Then, I saw a DOG WITH NO LEASH ENTER THE KITCHEN. AND NO ONE STOPPED HIM. And then she was rude to my dad. So I personally don't suggest that you come to this restaurant.Vegetarian options: There were veg options, and they were good.Dietary restrictions: The veg options had a lot of cheese, and a lot of oil. Ten minutes later, and my mouth still feels oily.Parking: The parking was nice, right in front of the building. We didn't really have any problems and we came with the crowd so it was kinda crowded...Kid-friendliness: There wasn't any keiki menu, but the food didn't have that much quantity so it was fine for keikis too.

After a full week of “carrot juice and soaking up rays”, the southernmost restaurant in the USA stood before me - offering pizza. BBQ pork pizza. Apparently Hana Hou translated is Heaven. Lilikoi lemonade…which if I’d had a designated driver would have been a lilikoi maitai… very chill place, spotless and nice servers. One pizza serves four. Definitely a good day because of Black Sand Beach & Hana Hou. I took a MacNut Creme Pie to-go to tide me over for the three hour drive back on Saddle Highway back to Kona. Heaven.

My girls and I went to eat at this restaurant after a long day filled with activities on Saturday March 1st, and this place met our expectations.From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with live music that brings you back and a very nice hostess. She was also the owner of the restaurant and very friendly, and tentative throughout our stay.We ordered three main dishes, a pizza and two special dishes. Then for dessert, we ordered the banana cream pie. They were all delicious!This was a perfect way to end our day and to keep our bellies full for the next 2 hour car ride back to our airbnb.I would highly recommend this place for it’s location, food and service!

This place is inauthentic, pricey for the food provided & tipping is straight up a scam. The waitress automatically added a 20% tip to our party of 5 which is a major red flag. None of the other restaurants that we've been to did the same thing.I don't recommend coming here. It's a tourist trap with next-to- nothing food quality.

Stopped by Hana House cafe as I made my trip around the island. Great experience. I had the 3 cheese ravioli, tossed green salad, and garlic bread. Atmosphere was relaxing, very enjoyable with fresh air gently coming in the windows. I normally don’t eat pasta dishes but today, I’m glad I made the selection. Ample parking was available. If by chance you are having lunch and there is a crowd my recommendation is to order take out, make the short drive to Whittington Beach and enjoy the meal there. Either way the experience is fantastic.

I had a negative experience at this restaurant. The lady at the counter was rude and made me feel bad for asking for a new fork. She also asked for an additional 4% if I paid by credit card, which I understand is standard practice, but she did it in a way that made me feel like I was being penalized for not paying in cash.I also found it odd that you cannot bring your own water into the restaurant, and that water is charged for. I understand that restaurants need to make a profit, but I think it's a bit excessive to charge for water, especially when you can't bring your own.Overall, I was not impressed with this restaurant. The service was rude, the prices were high, and I felt like I was being nickel-and-dimed. I would not recommend this restaurant to others.Vegetarian options: Hardly any

Unfortunately our experience wasn't great here. The kalua pork had very little pork and when we raised it to the restaurant, the lady at the front took our fork and poked around the dish and told us "there's shredded pork inside!". I think it was their last portion of the day, but they refused to offer us anything to make up for our meatless dish.

UnderwhelmingPizza took close to half an hour to bake. It was very greasy, and the base seemed undercooked. For $25 + tip for the pizza, I was certainly disappointed and one to forget.I threw away half the pizza - what a wasteThe sandwich was mainly bread, less filling too

I'm surprised no one mentioned the saltiness of the food in recent reviews. My husband loves salt and even he agreed everything was way too salty. Things way too salty to enjoy: the gravy on the pork dish, the Caesar salad (which cost $20 with no meat), the croutons on the salad, the macaroni salad, the crust of the macadamia cream pie. The caprese sandwich would have been amazing had it not been oversaturated with pesto (coming from someone who LOVES pesto!!) Honestly, all of the food would have been great had it not been overseasoned.The guava juice was tasty.The macadamia cream pie was not what I was expecting - I was expecting more ground nuts to keep a smooth consistency of a cream pie but it was large pieces of nuts making it a crunchy cream pie. Just personal preference that I didn't like the consistency even though the taste was fine, aside from the salty crust.The service was fine. Atmosphere was pleasant. As other reviews mention, beware of the credit card charge and mandatory service charge for parties of 4 or more.We would not eat here again. For the price of the food, we wanted to be able to enjoy it. It felt like we wasted our money.

Hana Hou Restaurant is the southernmost restaurant in the US so it was cool visiting. The food, in my opinion, wasn't spectacular. The desserts, however, looked amazing. I got the beef and fried shrimp plate and was looking for more flavor on the beef that was a little tough. It is nice little restaurant with great outdoor seating.

Stopped by here so we wouldn't be hangry at nearby (15min) Punalu'u Beach. The pizza was great, the service was quick, the selection was good. When they weren't serving customers, they were cleaning (the place was pretty spotless!). Why am I posting, though? You guys, the DESSERTS!! They had 3 different types of cookies (all larger than my hand!!), about 6 different types of bars (blueberry cheesecake?! Salted caramel macadamia nut?!), two different kinds of pie, at least two different kinds of cake (carrot cake or chocolate w/peanut butter frosting), and brownies. And the liliko'i lemonade you must try. Good heavens this place is a gem!Shout out to the witty cashier who made us chuckle with her answer to, "Do you guys have a public restroom?" 😂

Love it looove it this place. Freshly baked pies&pizza. Freshed lilikoi juice and other Drinks are very good too. Everytime we go there we always order "Dynamite and lilikoi cream pie" for sure n whatever their bake goods.Parking: A plenty parking in front of the restaurant and easy to park.

Hana Hou is a great local restaurant in Naalehu. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. It's definitely a place to stop after a morning hike. We intended to order pastries that our family recommended. Instead, our belly and eyes were hungry. I had a coconut shrimp and Mahi plate. My family ordered a Loco moco, Mahi burger, pineapple fried rice, a dynamite pizza, and a variety of pastries to take home. Everyone was happy and satisfied with what they ordered. The servings and taste were perfect to satisfy the hungry belly. I will definitely come back to try everything on the menu. Thank you very much for the local experience.

Cute place with friendly staff! I had the BLT and it was made with homemade bread. There’s a little lizard that likes to hang out on the picnic tables out front. He’s adorable but is not even a little bit scared of humans. I had to shoo him away a couple of times but made for a very memorable meal!

The kids had the pizza which was fine. Husband and I shared the seafood plate and the Loco Moco. Best thing on the table was loco moco- macaroni salad was decent too.The prices of the food didn’t seem to match the fairly rundown atmosphere and I didn’t like that they tack on an extra 3.9% charge for using credit card plus an automatic 20% tip on tables of four more.Kind of fun that we can say we ate at the southernmost restaurant in the USA though (at least that’s what the sign says, lol)

We got breakfast burritos which were amazing! The salsa that came with them was perfect. They were so big that I didn’t even finish mine! After a long day at the beach, we came back for dinner. The BBQ pizza was out of this world! The combo of flavors is so fun and it’s piled high with toppings. We also got a char siu plate. The meat and fried rice was excellent. The mac salad is the best I’ve had on the island. Service was friendly and quick both in the morning and evening. The food is reasonably priced and the serving sizes are hearty. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the south side!

This review is solely about the service. We stopped for lunch. It was busy. While 2 couples waited in the dining room and we waited at the counter with 6 other people behind us, the woman working there proceeded to talk to someone on the phone about a gift certificate.What she should have done is explain they were busy, taken a phone number, and offered to call back.We left.

Was still able to order takeout past 3pm. Ordered Loco Moco with meatloaf and the roast pork. The mac salad was great. The chicken parm and spaghetti was dry and bland, hence the not perfect score, but will def come back and try the pies and will prob update with 5 stars.*was recommended by one of the park's volunteers AKA volcano experts
