I used to be with a vet in town until I had to go to makawao vet unexpectedly for one of my dogs. The people there were so kind and compassionate to my situation. Kasey even asked my husband how I was doing when he brought our other dog in for a check up about a month later. Kawika who is in charge of the crematorium made sure my dog was well taken care of and given back to me so quickly. I will keep going back to support Makawao vet and the staff there because they truly care about your animals. Thank you 🙏

I left Makawao Vet seven years ago because I moved to Wailuku and wanted a vet closer by. Unfortunately after a few years I found the new vet to be practicing in a way so as to maximize expense. I finally left that place because I did not feel I had a voice in the treatment of my dog. Now, after having returned to Makawao Vet, I am thrilled! Not only did they offer a more affordable option for medication refills, but they also listen to me when it comes to treatment options and they don't make me feel guilty for not doing the full-court-press on my senior dog. I am thrilled to learn that Makawao Vet allows me to make appointments via text and they have a full staff so getting in is not a problem. Despite the drive, as long as I'm living on Maui, I will stick with them!

My cat has complicated heart issues and the team at Makawao Vet has navigated us through them with compassion and expertise. With the first person I spoke to and then met at the front desk Trevor is not only professional but incredibly empathetic and comforting. (he knows his clients and their fur babies names!) He treats every client with special care.Dr. Haines is outstanding as well! She networked with the specialists my pet needed and continues to provide comprehensive care. Makawao Vet Clinic deserves 10 stars!

My dog had been sick for some time and I knew his time was coming. My husband and I had previously discussed we would do his cremation with Makawao Vet. Well my dog passed away at home this morning and we instantly knew where we were going. I work in the Veterinary field for another clinic so I know the standard of care one would expect to receive but I was blown away. When we arrived, Megan greeted us at the door and immediately asked if we needed help to bring him in. My husband carried him in and she took us to a room where she told us we could spend time with him. Something I didn’t expect, but am forever greatful for. We spent time saying our goodbyes and let Megan know when we were ready. She gave me a hug and condolences. We didn’t feel rushed to leave and to us she felt like a genuinely sincere person. So thank you to Megan for making such a hard time a little easier on us. Thank you for your compassion. Again, as a someone in the Vet field and just as a human being, I truly appreciated her empathy. I never write reviews but I made an account special to write this one. That’s the kind of impression kindness and compassion has on a person. Highly recommend Makawao Vet Crematory.

Love this vet!! They are so compassionate and work with you. I appreciate how they bring out an itemized receipt before the treatment for you to approve or request changes to. Jan 2nd I had an appointment for rou my dog to have a tooth pulled, Upon the previous appointment, doctor Noah told me that his tooth looked broken and would need to be extracted. I scheduled that with x rays and a cleaning since he was already going to be under. Anywho January 2nd I dropped him off at 8 AM. About twenty minutes later I get a call saying he needs a test for van willerborough's disease To make sure he won't bleed a lot when the tooth is extracted. I passed as he has already had his ears clipped. When I picked him up, the vet tec told me very vaguely "the Tooth pretty much fell out". Yesterday I found his tooth in the house that was supposed to be extracted. That morning it must have fallen out before his appointment. I was not told the tooth had already fallen out and they obviously didnt know as they asked me for the bleeding test (for extraction of tooth) before they put him under. I am shocked they did not inspect his mouth and see the fallen out tooth before putting him under. Furthermore, I am infuriated that they did not call me and tell me what was going on. There are serious risks such as death with putting a dog Under. It's clear to me now that they did not inspect the mouth before putting him under, Saw it afterwards and continued treatment. Then tried to hide it from me. I am furious and I will not be using this clinic again. They offered no compensation or refund so I went ahead with a credit card dispute. This is not the first issue I have had with them,but it will be the last. Beware

I really appreciate Dr. Noa taking time to explain the treatment plan and why I should get the tests and treatments she suggests. She has a good bedside manner. I feel like my old pets and new ones are in good hands with her. Her kind and forthright manner helped me alot when I had to euthanize my old boy Ula in June.

We are so happy with Makawao Vet Clinic and all the staff! We see Dr. Noa for our pets, but have seen other doctors when she was not in for more urgent needs and everyone has been fantastic. Everyone there treats pets with such compassion, and we never feel rushed (even though we tend to have tons of questions at our visits, we never feel like we are taking up too much time). Even the front desk is amazing, very detailed and helpful. Truly a five star team all around and we feel so grateful to have found them.

I wouldn't waste your time with this office. I made a 3:45 appointment for my new puppy. We were on time but left waiting on the front room over 30 minutes. During this time waiting my puppy was very distressed and whining and at no point was I informed that they were running behind. In fact no one spoke to me at all after my paperwork was complete, I was just ignored. We could have gone on a walk or something to distract her with all that time, or simply arrived later if they bothered to communicate. While waiting the three staff members were having loud conversations talking very negatively about clients and pets they didn't like. It was not only really unprofessional but also left a bad taste in my mouth. I finally went up to ask if I had the appointment time wrong because it was after 4:15 and they closed at 5. I was told I was correct and on time and the receptionist when into the back to check. I heard a very loud "oh! I forgot!" come from the back. Great. The receptionist comes back out to say they will be ready in a few more minutes and they can still "squeeze her in real quick" before they closed for the day. I explained that I didn't want her first appointment rushed through because we had a couple concerns I wanted to address, that she deserved to have her entire appointment and that I wanted a vet who would treat her as a priority. We walked out without seeing a vet and immediately made an appointment with a different office where the vet didn't leave us hanging.

The Makawao Vet and Staff took so great care of my two dogs, I cannot thank them enough. I'm still smiling of the great treatment these people gave to my family. They were professional, took their time to listen to my children and my concerns, and then carried out every request me made. I can't say enough about them, but I can say I have no complaints or worries with this Vet. My dogs are in great hands and I highly recommend the Makawao Vet. Owen needed his infected tail amputated due to unknown trauma. Makawao vet clinic saw Owen as an urgent patient despite having a full schedule that day I called.It was Owen and I’s first time at the vet and I must say that I would not have chosen any other vet clinic to care for him to address his needs.Lacey and Dr Woodworth have been great in listening to my concerns, have fully discussed everything I needed to know in order for me to make decisions for Owen and have answered all my questions.They even called the day after to check on Owen! I will definitely return if Owen needs help again and highly recommend the Makawao Vet clinic to those who needs their assistance.

One of the hardest things you can do when you have a pet is to say goodbye. They mobile vet service came to our home, and my sweet girl was able to go to sleep outside, under the beautiful afternoon sun, in our arms. We were able to say goodbye in the most caring of ways. I am very thankful for their caring, compassion, and empathy. We had the private cremation and received the ashes back in days. I am forever thankful that we were able to spend her last moments sitting peacefully outside. Thank you so much Dr Haines for making everything so peaceful.Mahalo to the staff for their kindness when I picked up her ashes. I really needed that hug.

My dog had a anaphylactic reaction to the B shot they had me give her. She wouldn’t eat the food they sold me. The vet completely failed to follow up and return my phone call at all. He was incredibly dismissive of my desire to take a holistic approach. My holistic vet believed me about her reaction, as it had just happened to her mother. This clinic was incredibly dismissive and left me on my own 100%. They also refused to let me return the unused pre-loaded b shots even though I spent over $1000 there. Zero care for me or my dog. Thank God there is the Kihei vet and Dr. Hellsen who was happy to work with her through diet, acupuncture, and Chinese herbs with me. I’m happy to say Shaka is much better now, after my moment of having her stop breathing after a racing heart after the B shot. It was extremely unprofessional and negligent to abandon a patient before she had another vet. Not only is Shaka showing all the signs of a full recovery, but the follow up lab work confirms that the holistic treatment has been as successful as we could possibly have hoped and her B levels have normalized without the 5 more shots they expected me to give her.

Only $85 for a check uo. Great staff. Works well with emergency sityations. This comlany goes wau back and the communjty full supports their success as a mahalo for taking care of our community livestock and pets. Great grooming facility and amazing views to see while you wait. They have a nice waiting room, too. Everyone is super friendly, and their staff actively rescue and adopt pets.

We boarded our dog for a week and he was taken very good care of by the friendly staff. They sent photos daily of my dog which was very comforting for me and my wife. This was our dogs first boarding and he loved it. I recommend if you're traveling or need to have your pet boarded, go see Makawao vet.

This morning I was able to contact them, I had no appointment, to bring in my pet who was ill. So very appreciative to the staff and Dr., professional, respectful, kind, courteous, and understanding and calmly easing the anxiety of all. I might like to add their COVID protocol and setup is great! Thank you for being a great team and caring for all pets that come to you!
