My FAVORITE sandwich and salad spot, EVER! Fresh baked focaccia bread 🤤 homemade salad dressings. Most all locally sourced.Highly recommend:Sandwiches: Bacon & Brie, Roast breast of Chicken, Crab & Avo, and Grilled egg plant.Salads: Literally every salad is YUMMMMERS.If you are visiting or live here this is a MUST. Hidden gem for sure.Parking: Huge gravel parking lot in lower parking area of Makawao Town and stairs lead right up to resturant.

Very cozy casual outdoor cafe tucked away between artsy shops. It was a very busy day and only one waitress running the show. She was wonderful and kind, but my order wasn’t correct and I received a turkey sandwich instead of a chicken sandwich on focaccia which I think would have been a better choice. Can’t complain. The price was right.

Wow! What a hidden gem. If you are not looking forward to it then you will walk right past it. This is a great place for a quick bite or a light lunch. Hands down the best fish sandwich I have ever had. Seating is limited but prices are good and the food is fresh. Highly recommended!!!

Found this simple little gem while walking around the town. Probably one of the best fish sandwiches (Mahi Mahi)! And each sandwich comes with a small Caesar salad. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the Makawao Garden Cafe today. The weather was a bit blustery, but after visiting the Haleakalā crater, pretty much everything felt warm! The cafe is easy to miss, as it's just off the street and kind of tucked in behind another building. We both had the crab and avocado sandwich, which was delicious. There was a family of chickens hanging around that were very entertaining as well. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable.

I recently visited Makawao Garden Cafe with high hopes, but the experience left me disappointed. The ordering process from the tiny shack was unremarkable, and when I chose to sit at a wooden table, the owner insisted on a small, less comfortable option despite the absence of other customers. The crab sandwich, unfortunately, lacked freshness and had an overpowering fishy taste. The odd encounter with the owner and the subpar food make it unlikely that I’ll return to this establishment.

Nice cafe for a sandwich. I had the roasted chicken, the hero of the sandwich was the focaccia bread, it was fresh baked and toasted, and awesome. My friend had the curry salad and I wish I would have gotten that with a slice of focaccia. No refills on the drinks is a bummer. Service was really good as well as the prices, one of the cheaper meals we have had here on the island. Great setting for when it rained.

Fresh, fantastic food in a quaint corner in Makawao. My wife had the chicken curry salad, I had the sliced Turkey sando. Both incredibly delicious bursting with home made flavor. The flavors of curry, the Caesar dressing, balsamic vinaigrette, and the sesame ginger are all over the top good. Sweetest owner serving all eaters with her daughter for the last 30 years. My wife said she would eat here everyday.D-Licious.

There was no one else here when we arrived, we ordered 3 drinks while we waited and 3 sandwiches to go. Not super quick but we were in no real rush. When we ate our sandwiches on the road to Hana we were so happy to have decided to stop here. The chicken and veggies were very flavorful. The bread was delicious as well, and one of the sandwiches was on gluten-free bread some of the best I've ever had!

My favorite place to eat in Makawao!Super cute tucked away cafe in the heart of Makawao town. Locally owned and operated. The owner is the waitress and I believe her daughter is the chef. Very yummy and quality food made and served with love. I order the homemade lemonade and the eggplant sandwich.

Visited 2/20/21 and it was the BEST chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! The homemade bread was phenomenal! Loved the food, the lady was sweet and service was lovely. Nice little surprise spot we stumbled upon!

Phenomenal little Cafe outside shops and off the main drag in Makawao. I cant imagine a better lunch on a beautiful day than the roasted chicken sandwich with side Ceasar salad and honey lemonade. Hit the spot, and the peacefulness of Makawao itself made this simple meal one of the highlights of my trip.

When you visit Up Country in Maui, this is a must stop and eat. Great food, Great service, and the chickens have the run of the place lol. We so enjoyed our meal here, we came back a week later. You won't be disappointed. One of the best places on the island.

Great place for lunch in Makawao. The sandwiches and the salads are delicious. I had the crab and avocado sandwich (comes with a side cesar salad) which was amazing. Good prices and service. Highly recommended.

Grumpy staff. Just got an order to go, son had takeout from nearby grocery store and was run off for bringing in outside food. We're not even staying! Rulez be rulez, gyarr.Still reading? Food was great!!! Prices for Maui are unbeatable. Crab and avocado sandwich was good. So was bacon and brie. Get two different sandwiches and split with a partner, or just keep eating there. Caeser salad dressing was a little unique without being weird. Lettuce was fresh and crispy, just right. I'd stay and eat there instead of to go. The chickens are a hoot.Parking on the main drag is a matter of luck. Public lot with stairs behind the cafe is super convenient.

Makawao Garden Cafe has a warm friendly atmosphere with healthy sandwiches and salads made to order. The dressings and bread are made right there at the Cafe. They offer gluten free options and always pay special attention to any and all dietary needs. Truly one of a kind on Maui.

Rated way too high. Good service, friendly but lunch was not a 5 star value.Turkey Avo Sand boring, Avo Crab Sand was like runny tuna fish.. filling but lack of flavor and texture. A "split fee" of $2.50 gets you 1 half Sand with some Ceasar salad and a Big Plate. (The turkey Sand came cut in half with the same (if not more volume) salad.) Don't "split" an order. The Brie and bacon half sand was okay but overpriced.

What a disaster. We were seated for lunch, then a tour showed up and we then had to wait 45 minutes to order. We should have left, but had hi Hope's for this place. Then after eating 1.5hrs later the owner/ manager came back and had raised our bill by 2.00 as the waitress had supposedly written down the wrong prices. Very disappointing. We will never be back and will not recommend this place to anyone.
