Had dinner on Saturday 2/24, party of five 6:30 pm reservation. We had a great time at Hali'imaile General Store. Top notch food and drinks in a plantation style country house. Love the wooden structure and atmosphere inside and out.I really loved the sashimi Napoleon. ( Sorry no pictures) All the food was great. The wine was delicious and the service was fantastic. Colette our server was so knowledgeable and friendly. She and the team ( Natalie, Ben and Chris ) front and back of the house did a great job.

Our day started with a 9:30am pineapple tour and we went to the general store right after. The timing was perfect! We were seated quickly (with reservations). The place is very cute inside with hawaiian art hanging on the walls and framed newspaper clippings in the hallways connecting the two dining rooms. Our waitress gave us just the right amount of attention and our food was brought out in a timely manner. All together, we had the fresh catch curry, fresh catch with a mango salsa, fish tacos, and a pork sandwich. Everything was good and cooked well, but nothing blew us out of the water. We tried their famous pineapple upside down cake with ice cream for dessert and it was the same - just good. Would I go back? Probably not, unless someone else wanted to.

Good place to stop for a meal if you're on your way towards Up Country. The front section of the restaurant is bright and cheerful; the back section is kinda drab in comparison. The food we ordered was both good and a little disappointing. The chicken sandwich was tasty, but the pork belly baos were just okay (baos were fresh but very skimpy on the pork belly and they were slightly chewy/stringy).

First off - you MUST get the pineapple upside down cake! It’s the best one I’ve ever had aside from the one I make at home. Served warm with whipped cream, we got vanilla ice cream too but it’s so good you don’t need it. I also loved the sashimi napoleon which was so good & so fresh & the flavors melded together perfectly. My husband got the burger & carrot soup & both were well executed & tasty. The place itself is super cute & welcoming. Service from Sasha was awesome & she gave us some tips on Haleakala crater (which we went to after the Maui pineapple tour). They said this was one of the best restaurants in Maui & I can see why.

An outstanding birthday experience for my wife Susan. Heather guided us through the menu, reminding us of what we previously had. We opted for the mahi-mahi for Susan and the kalua pork enchilada pie for me. Both incredible. Heather then brought us their famous pineapple upside down cake with ice cream and candle singing HBD to her. I told them after it was spectacular and, believe me it was. Can’t wait to return here.

We indulged in a delightful array of dishes: the Ahi Poke, Braised Pork Belly Bao Buns, Upcountry Farm Salad, Caesar Salad, Black Tiger Shrimp Pappardelle Pasta, and a 14 oz Prime Rib. Each dish was fantastic, making our dining experience memorable. This restaurant is a must-visit whenever we are on the island, thanks to its consistently friendly and attentive service. Our visit was filled with laughter and great food, making it thoroughly enjoyable. I honestly recommend a visit here - it’s 100% worth it. A great way to celebrate Christmas Eve :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed our first lunch here today. Housed in a large, airy and tastefully decorated building, the General Store serves delicious food and fine presentations. The service is impeccable, if not a little frequent. We even got good recommendations for exploring Upcountry. My wife started with Yesterday’s soup, I don’t get it either, and loved her bbq pork sandwich entree. I had two apps, the Crab Pizza which was VERY good and the pork belly buns (pictured here) which were exquisite.

We have eaten here every time we have come to Maui over the past ten years or so. The food and service are excellent. Our waiter, O.D. was knowledgeable and attentive, and we enjoyed getting to know him and his background. Our cocktails, a mai tai and a spicy margarita were both tasty. My wife had the Sao Buns and I had the onion soup both delicious. Our main dishes were the one, seasonal fresh catch and the blackened seared ahi noodle bowl. Both were quite good and generous enough to take some home. Our only complaint is the parking lot. I am handicapped and walk with a cane. The lot in the back (the front of the restaurant has many, high steps) needs to be repaved. There are pits in the asphalt parking lot which could cause a fall. The whole entrance for handicapped is uninviting and should be rebuilt, considering the number of senior visitors to Maui.Wheelchair accessibility: The parking lot is not friendly for handicapped.

This restaurant knows FLAVOR! great quality ingredients, awesome cut of meat great service and lovely atmosphere I can see why this place is still in business after all these years! I had the Korean short rib and it was one of the BEST cuts of meat I've ever tasted. So flavorful! My friend had the shrimp pasta and we started with the sashimi stack and did NOT regret it! Looking around us that night at other tables there were so many "wows" and loud "mmmm's" we knew we all made the right choice! If you want to treat yourself this place is well worth the price tag! Thank you!

We had a great lunch here on a recommendation from a friend. Easy to get to and quite a popular place. Get a reservation to be sure you get in. Food was delicious and service was excellent. The curry was perfect and full of flavor. The halibut was delicious and perfectly cooked. We definitely will go back on our next trip. This was a great find on our travels. We stopped for lunch on our way to Haleakala national park. Note that they close between lunch and dinner service.

I stopped in after driving the family to the Maui glass blowing. I wanted to try the world famous pineapple upside cake. The kitchen was closed at 2:30pm. Heather was so accommodating. My family of 4. was able the eat the best Pineapple upside down cake on the island of Maui. It was our last day on the island. We stopped in before our flight.

We have always liked this place. The ambiance and vibe is just chill. The service has always been good. You get a lot of upcountry locals dining here too.The food has always been good. On this visit we had the crab pizza 3/5 (not what I was expecting), Greek salad 4.5/5, ROASTED MEYER LEMON HALF-CHICKEN 5/5, HGS DELUXE CHEESEBURGER 4/5 (patty could have used more seasoning), and love in a jar 5/5.Good wine, beer, and cocktail choices.

The location nice , the staff great, with the exception of a question regarding gluten and dairy-free had the server confused like it was the first time the question ever came up.The mule one of the best on the island. The wine pour a bit small. The tap water tasted TAP. At these prices it's probably worth a filter.Good size portions and quality food.Wife's chair had some pokey thing you might want to look all the chairs. The reason we wouldn't come back is the lack of gluten and dairy-free options. Seafood curry was good but I can't eat that each time (assuming it is, I couldn't get clear answer). Maybe it's time to consider expanding your menu so there's a fish dish with sauce or sides that could be stripped out for gluten and dairy-free. It would cover many food allergy issues. The Mill House is far more accommodating to people having to deal with food issues.Dietary restrictions: Just a token GF on a few items.

Great food and great service (props to Frank). Wasn't sure about some items based on other reviews so stuck with what was recommended and was not disappointed. The crab pizza definitely wowed and I can whole heartedly recommend it. The coconut seafood curry was also really good but didn't have as much of a wow factor. Drinks were done well enough that I would consider ordering them again.Overall it was a very nice dinner and worth trying if you are in the mood for something a little more upscale.Note there is a 2% service charge that is split with the employees, as well as a $8 entree splitting fee (you get some additional sauce/veggies) should you decide to have it plated separately.

If you’re looking for great food, awesome service, and a bit of Maui history, this is the place to go for dinner. We had the Mahi Mahi and the ribeye steak, and both were fabulous. The scalloped potatoes with the ribeye are to die for (decided to get an extra order to take home with our leftover steak). Our server Hannah (?) was great. Very attentive and made honest recommendations when asked. We finished our meal with the upside down pineapple cake. Delicious!! The only down side to all of this is we had to drive back to our condo after such a great meal. Food coma was definitely setting in!! You can’t go wrong here. We’ve been to Oahu and Kaua’i over the past 12 days and this was our best meal yet on the islands.

We were glad to get in at the last minute without a reservation. The daiquiri special was just the right amount of sweet and coconut-y. The poke bowl was light and delicious. We also had the Wagyu burger, pineapple upside down cake, and Mahi mahi curry. Which was my son’s favorite meal of our trip. The service was super friendly and we’re enjoyed the open vibe and artwork.

Book your reservations early! Our aunty recommended this restaurant to us and we enjoyed our time here. We got lucky and were able to make 11:00 lunch reservations the day before we went. Otherwise the only availability was an 8:00 dinner. The Lemongrass Ginger Frost w/ Coconut was phenomenal! I love these flavors and only wished the ice was crushed more finely because the chunks made it difficult to drink.Bev’s Famous Crab Pizza did not disappoint. Flavorful crab with a thin and crispy crust. The Macadamia Crusted Crusted Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly and the flavors of the fruit salsa went well with the mango vinaigrette. Surprisingly light and refreshing! The Crab and Rock Shrimp Cake was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was a pretty big piece and went well with the mango remoulade. The honey sesame slaw was also unique and delicious. My husband and I don’t care for mango and coconut flavors, but we loved all our dishes and drink. It wasn’t overpowering and you could tell they did well selecting the combination of ingredients to create the dishes. The service was pretty good. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but was in multiple areas (by the window and main/back room) so it was a little inconsistent. We watched a busser clean the table next to us and she just used a napkin to pick up the crumbs and put the place setting on the table right after. We are a little weary of their cleaning practices. However, we will definitely be back to try more dishes! For those commenting on the prices for these portions - it is considered normal! They are similar to places like Roy’s Restaurants, Sansei, and others you find on Maui and Oahu. This is not just some basic diner or chain restaurant.

Highly recommend this restaurant! Tasty combinations of fresh flavors and crunch, delicious options for both fish and meat lovers. Great drinks (try the fresh lilikoi margarita not on the menu). Service was great and all the recommendations were spot on.

The Napolian Tower sashimi appetizer and the Lemongrass Frost cocktail were just incredible. The main course, macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi, lacked something. Perhaps acidity? Deserts were okay, but no wow factor. Next time I'll try their special creme brulle. Service was spectacular. This spot has a lot of charm, though very noisy, especially near the open kitchen area.
