Safeway is a big convenience store chain. The stores are pretty much the same everywhere although prices may vary with location. Lots of things are expensive in Hawaii as they need to be imported. The stores have most anything you expect a regular convenience store to offer. It also has small sections for some "ethnic" foods (Mexican, Thai, Chinese, etc.) and for vegetarian/vegan foods. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is kept clean and tidy.

This Safeway is a good option for couples staying at a condo while visiting Kauai. Costco is better for larger parties but Safeway is best for two people. It is expensive, which is to be expected on Kauai. But it was more expensive than the groceries available in limited quantities at Walmart a mile or so away. My suggestion for couples is to split up groceries between Walmart and Safeway to get the best bang for your buck. I think our Safeway rewards card from the mainland worked for the member sale prices, so that helps for sure. Any way you look at it if staying in a condo eating most meals with groceries from Safeway is MUCH cheaper than dining out all the time.

Only 1 cashier on a Saturday…long lines. They dont have most of the products on the website and the employees are less than pleasant. Walmart is just down the road. Ho there.

Great prices, always has what I need and I especially love the discount corner (I find stuff I need at super discounts). There are many things I love about Safeway what more can I say it's my go to for everything...

Good selection. Too bad they were out of our favorite apple juice. Safeway did reach out about the missing product we're visiting, so I thought there was no use to respond. Great of them to ask.

Girls at the sushi counter were just awesome. Asked if we could get a veggie sushi as my wife has celiac disease (cannot eat gluten) they had already closed down for the night. (Did not tell us.) came back 10 mins later and they were super sweet and made us 2 veggie dishes. They made a pregnant woman very happy!!

Shoutout to Alma at Safeway Kapaa.Today she went the extra step to help me.I promised my granddaughter a mermaid balloon.I was very disappointed when there were none to be seen.Alma didn’t have to tell me there was one in a cabinet she could inflate for me. She could have walked away but she didn’t. She took the time to stop what she was doing and helped me with so much Aloha.Excellent customer service skillsCompassionateProfessional

Customer Service: Lillian was friendly and helpful.Best Part: The store was clean and well-stocked.Worst Part: Confusing labels on some products, and many of the wheels on the carts were jammed up.Return: Probably, it is a great environment, though the nearby Costco can have better prices.

Aloha, my fellow foodie! I recently stopped by Safeway in Lihue, HI and let me tell ya, it was a real paradise. The food selection was impressive, with a great variety of fresh produce, local specialties, and other grocery items. The atmosphere was bright and lively, with a friendly vibe that made for a great shopping experience. And the quality of service was top-notch, with helpful and courteous staff who made sure every customer was well taken care of. Highly recommend for all your grocery needs in Lihue!

Wow! Now this is a grocery store with sooo much! Prices are very reasonable too.Poke is in the back.Then eat inside by the front door. Not too shabby.

Alot of good food and groceries here at Safeway in Lihue, Kauai. I really love the Flowers and balloons section in Safeway, Lihue because they have very beautiful flower arrangements and plants for sale. I love the Bakery department,Ono,sweet,desserts. Mahalo's for everything 🙏 ❤ Aloha.

Excellent grocery store and my favorite part, it’s open 24/7. Cashier lines can get long but self check-out is usually pretty quick. I do wish the bakery would do a “day old” clearance on donuts and pastries, but not a deal breaker of course. Overall, an easy and realizable shopping experience.

Safeway is the only Mainland Brand grocery store in Lihue, with a convenient location for all your needs. You'll find brands that you use, know, and trust, with daily in store sales...and don't forget "Half of Fridays !!".Great deli section, awesome seafood section and a bakery department, which you should stay away from if you don't want to become over-weight...(Delicious). Don't forget your Safeway Card....!! 😊

The Boars head sandwich depart is a joke. I waited 30 minutes for the Safeway employee to make 3 sandwiches. Then finally was able to order only to be told, the bread that was supposed to go with the sandwich was not available.They should shut this department down if they are not going to take it seriously.

Great selection of food just like back on the mainland, bit the prices are over the top. $7.99 # for mango, 4.99# for onions, $3.99# for most all other vegetables and fruits. However canned foods etc were higher than So.Cali, but doable. As a vegetarian for 5 days of food it was almost $200. Back home in Orange County Calif, it would have cost me under $100. Still better than eating out daily 3x while on vacaction.

Dropped $671 there last night but that included prime rib and alcohol. Capital one sent me a text alert after the charge to verify it was legit. Glad it was open on Christmas Eve because Costco had already closed. That you, Safeway! Since we're neighbors let's be friends (old advertising jingle from the 70's).

Nice clean store with shelves that appear fully stocked. Staff on hand was helpful.My big complaint is this place was packed with lines of people waiting to check out. The wait time was pretty long especially considering that I only had one item. Suggestion Safeway: Keep an eye on these long lines at checkout and open up other registers to handle them.

The store is clean and well stocked! This is the best grocery store on the island that we have used. Highly recommend!
