My husband and I spent my birthday here and had the Purrrfect time and loved our experience at the cat sanctuary. I admire how passionate and caring the staff are and how well-organized the shelter is. I wish more people would visit and support this wonderful place. It's definitely worth a visit when coming to Lanai!

Spent a couple of hours petting/feeding/loving 100s of cats, could have spent many more!! Really great place, you can feel the love from the owners and employees, the cats are well taken care for, have so much place to explore and so many places to hide/snooze/snack!! Thank you to everyone working there, you’re doing a great job for Hawai’i. We live on Maui and know how many feral cats are here, it’s good to know that the ones on Lana’i have a great place to stay.

This is my happy place! Visited in January 2020 and hope to return for another visit soon. It's a beautiful place for cats to be cats in total safety and also protecting the natural birds of the island.

My heart is full! Our day trip to Lanai from Maui was worth every second! We had so much fun at the cat sanctuary. It was literally heaven on earth for those of us who are cat lovers. We brought 2 large containers of treats, and we were very popular, lol!The staff is so kind and friendly. Please do not leave without giving a donation. The animals need us!

Such a great experience! There were so many sweethearts out there. I got some of their names but not all of them.I love their mission and hope I get to go back one day!

Wonderful place. Free, but you will want to make a donation. There are many enclosures, explore them all, Not just the one past registration desk. The sick & recovering kittens & cats need love & attention the Most. There are plenty of places to wash your hands so lavish some scritches, strokes, & petting where most needed. I'm very allergic, but barely noticed in this Open Air Wonderfulness. It will do your heart good. Do look up in the trees😁

What an unique and amazing place! So worth the visit. We took a plane from honolulu to lanai and walked from the airport (about 1.4 miles)We ended up spending about 4 hours here walking through the different sections that they have for the cats. The cats seem well taken care of with lots of places to sleep and hide.

Visiting the cat sanctuary on Lana'i was an incredible experience. All of the cats are well taken care of, everything is very clean, and the staff is super kind. Absolutely loved visiting and getting to love on all the kitties! Also very wonderful that this sanctuary exists to help protect native birds.

A very nice place to visit with friends to see cats. It’s completely free to enter though there are opportunities to donate. When you walk in you are given a two minute lecture about the cats and the treats you can give them. The staff are really nice and the cats are really great too. My friends enjoyed walking around and feeding them. They seem to be treated very well and were very friendly with us. A lot of places to sit and enjoy the cats and overall really nice place to visit.

Found out about this place on Instagram and so glad I did. I booked the ferry and car travel from Maui to the sanctuary through the website Lost on Lanai. Very easy and they did everything for us. The sanctuary is for all cat lovers out there. Free to get in. A few picnic tables outside, so pack lunches and snacks. They have a little gift shop with shirts and stickers which is cool. They give each person a small bag of cat treats to give out upon entry. They rely solely on donations so I gave $20 when I entered. Cats cats and cats were everywhere. They had 4 enclosures. Lots and lots to walk through. Elderly cats have their own space and are treated with dignity. 95% of the cats are feral cats so some are skittish. But I found some in each enclosure that just sorely wanted love and human affection. I really enjoyed the elderly cats because they really just wanted people around. It broke my heart but I was really glad they had such a nice outdoor space to lounge in. Any animal lover visiting Maui or Lanai needs to go to the cat sanctuary. It is totally amazing

Wow! What an awesome day!!!! I have loved cats my whole life but never have been am exposed to hundreds of cool, happy, living and curious cats at the same time. Today was one of my favorite days ever in Hawaii. It is a great excuse to make the trek to Lanai. The sanctuary is clean, creatively designed and efficient. The cats all have a place to find their territory and be social. We will be back!!.

Oodles of cats running around. A good site seeing stop for rescue cats and a good mission for the island. 3 stars just based strictly on the fact that I don’t like cats that much and it’s a little disorganized (eg it’s just getting a bag of cat food and then feeding cats - not much educational piece or any guided tours on the mission statement etc)

Cat heaven!! This place has almost 700 cats that are wonderfully kept and well fed. Many of the cats desperately want human interaction and going there does many cats lots of good. We had a wonderful time sitting with the various kitties getting to know them. If you are in anyway a fan of felines and happen to be on Lana'i this is a must visit!!

Take your vision of a Crazy Cat Lady that has 125 cats living in her house which you can smell from the curb, the one day she dies and the cats eat her . . . And throw that out. This place is superbly organized and really does provide a humane beautiful wild but safe place for these forgotten and neglected furry friends to live out their days in equity and a perpetual trail of love, brushings, and treats from the visitors stopping in ... and just 5 minutes from the airport. Take a couple hours to spread a little love and receive some purrs in return.

Our feline companion was taken by cancer a couple months ago. We were craving some cat cuddle time, and this place delivered, and then some. 650+ cats, all very well taken care of, and a large amount of them were very social. I wish we could justify adopting a couple, but this looks like paradise. The next challenge will be which ones to choose to sponsor.I really appreciate what they do for the cat (and bird) population of Lanai.

If they had a place like this, I wouldn't hesitate to volunteer my time here. The lady that greeted us was so friendly and gave us a bag of treats to pass out to the kitties as we visited with them. She also was very informative and you could tell she loved being there. The place was very well kept; super clean, inviting, and enough space for all the cats that they had there. It was very obvious that the cats that are kept here are very loved. The layout for each enclosure of the cars was spacious and had a variety of sections for the cats to enjoy. I definitely recommend coming to this place and, if you are able, adopting a cat and giving them their forever home.

I am so thankful there is a rescue like this in Lanai. I only wish there were something similar on the other islands. It's a great tourist attraction and I recommend any cat lover staying in Maui make a day of it and take the ferry over to give those sweet kitties some love and affection. The sanctuary adopts to anywhere on the mainland, so you never know... you just might meet your next furry companion.

Truly a paradise for cat lovers. Such a beautiful place ran by beautiful people who really take the time to get to know each and every cat. There are so many different enclosures with so many different kinds of cats. This is a must if you’re in Hawaii and love cats, I can’t wait to go back!

I could have stayed here all week playing with the kitties. They were so friendly, and even the shy ones could be coaxed out of their hiding place with treats. We brought a large container of Temptations treats that we went through easily in less than 2 hours, and we left with Lanai cat sanctuary shirts and hoodies. To get here, purchase ferry tickets at least a couple days ahead of time. Take the ferry from Lahaina to Lanai (about 45 mins). Text one of the taxi services the ferry lists in their email at least 2-3 days before to reserve a taxi to get from the harbor to the sanctuary. It is only about a 30 min ride, but it definitely is not walkable. And there is no other transportation to the sanctuary. You can arrange to have them return you to the harbor. Alternately, you can rent a car for about $200 for the day. They will bring the car to you at the harbor, and you can give them the car back at the harbor. If you plan to spend a few hours here, bring a lunch, snack, water. There is a bathroom, but no food for sale close by.The sanctuary is very well maintained, and the kitties all seem very content.

We loved EVERY second of our trip to the cat sanctuary. The people working were lovely to chat with, and so helpful in discussing the cats that they house. The sanctuary itself Is a paradise for cats (and cat lovers). They have shaded areas, tons of seating, cat houses/condos/apartments. The cats themselves range from seniors to one year Olds, and they're all PUURRRFECT.Anyone taking a trip to Lanai should absolutely stop by the cat sanctuary. Ask how you can support the non-profit and pet a cat (or 20) - it's great for the mental health and the overall mood. It's impossoble to have a bad day while hanging out with a bunch of cats :)

Best day of my dadgum life! Lanai Cat Sanctuary is any cat lovers dream... if you're truly cat crazy like me, it's easy to spend the whole day snuggling with all the kitties. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the shade. The staff is all so very friendly and they do an amazing job of giving these babies their best life of luxury with lots of cozy places for cat naps, enrichment activities, and even a cat walks. Don't forget to look up in the trees in the adolescent area for a bonus surpurrise! Could not more highly recommend.

I’ve followed this place on Instagram for some time and since I also foster kittens I understood the importance and the work that goes into a place such as this. They have a couple different enclosures that you can go in and pet and feed the cats. They provide treats, but be sure to also bring your own as there are so many cats!!! We went through 4 large containers of temptations! Plan on spending a couple hours ☺️

The BEST place on earth's humanity and live preservation. Run completely on donations and vets they have to fly in to care for the cats. You NEED to come here and complete your Hawaii trip experience. It's a once in a lifetime experience you must have. A bucket list. Something to do before you die. You must.Bring toys, treats, and donations for the sanctuary. It is the only way to value the cats with respects and you should support this great cause!Come and visit! We had a great time and there's nothing else like it.

Incredible place with over 600 cats to greet you and play with you! Mostly strays but friendly and loving to visitors. Great people working and volunteering there! Full of information and animal lovers all the way. If you don't like cats, you probably will after a visit here.
