My wife and I rented a truck for the day. We had a great experience, having a vehicle for the day let us explore the island at our own pace. Truck was clean & the owner was responsive to any questions we had.The rental process was very easy, truck was waiting for us at the ferry, and we left it in the same spot. All of the paperwork was done online or via text.Lanai itself is totally worth it for the day, the Blue Ginger has some great breakfast burritos, and the cat sanctuary is a must see. We were a little nervous about renting a car from a small company like this but we will use them again - very smooth process!

I've lived on Maui for over 5 years and always wanted to take a day trip to Lana'i, but every time I looked into it or heard the experience from some people who went there, it seemed like getting a rental car there was kind of a pain. Well, you can stop searching or worrying about it, just contact Judy at 808 Day Trip right now (advance notice will greatly help making sure she has availability) and get your rental car from her. She made things so easy, you sign all of the paperwork electronically beforehand, she sends you a ton of (useful) info, and when you arrive at the harbor, your car is waiting for you right there, ready for you to explore this beautiful island.Now that I know how easy it is, I will definitely contact Judy again next time I'm heading there with friends or family visiting us on Maui. Extra points for Judy's great texts, emojis and overall friendliness!!Thank you so much for a great service.

Let's face it, renting a car on Lāna'i is not a cheap endeavor. With that being said, 808 Day Trip was easy, convenient, and came with a lot of great recommendations for things to see and do around the island to make the most of the short time we were there. Interacting with Judi, the person behind the texts, was so fun. She was knowledgeable and had top notch customer service. 10/10 would recommend.

This is the 3rd time we’ve rented from Judy. Reservation is easy. The Jeep Compass we’ve rented has been in great shape. Lanai is a worthwhile place to go. Go to Cat sanctuary and cultural center. Blue Ginger and Peles are good for lunch. And the ferry ride is fun. Go for it!

Judi is incredible! I was so impressed by how responsive and helpful she was. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to easily and successfully enjoy Lanai the way I did without her rental. It is super easy to just pick up the car from the harbor and go! Judi also provides so many helpful tips and sites to see. If you want to have an amazing day trip to Lanai, look no further. Judi was very helpful and informative. I'd never been to Lanai before. The Cherokee I hired (Nugget) was the perfect car to drive around the sights.My highlight was the Cat Sanctuary... however the views around the island were breathtaking.I definitely recommend Judi and her team.

Super impressed with this great car rental company!!! The car was excellent and super clean. The instructions and guidance provided throughout the entire rental experience was unquestionably the best that I have ever seen and I have rented many cars around the world in the course of my travels. Precise, clear and detailed, they left no questions unanswered. If you need to go to the end of every dirt trail on the island this is not your car rental company. I believe there are goats available for rent elsewhere… stay on the pavement! Simple and clear. To see the few spot beyond the pavement rent a jeep elsewhere or get a drone like I did. We had tons of fun and a super Lāna’i day and never left the pavement. It can be done! Super customer service via text and rapid responses to any and all questions. If you need a great car on Lāna’i, I highly recommend 808 Day Trip Car Rental!

If you are going to Lanai, and don't intend to go off-road, I highly recommend booking with 808 day trip. The entire process went smoothly and the communication with Judi went above and beyond any expectations we had. A simple and truly seamless experience. We were so grateful that they could make a vehicle available to us on such short notice. It allowed us to have a wonderful day exploring the island. The only disadvantage is the limitation to paved roads, but there was still plenty of amazing things to experience and we are so thankful for an incredible day. The vehicle was great and very clean!

Our family of four just had a fabulous visit to Lanai thanks to 808 Day Trip. We were able to rent an affordable and very comfortable vehicle and we got loads of suggestions on what to do when we got here. We did almost everything on the list except the cat sanctuary but that was because of allergies. Judy is so fun and easy to communicate with and she really cares that you have a great and safe time on the island. I have no problem recommending them.

This is the easiest/smoothest car rental service I’ve ever used! Got a car the same day we went to Lanai and they were so helpful and friendly! We had no desire to off road so this service was perfect for us. Love that they are a small business and I could help support them. They dropped off the car at the ferry for us, it was fresh and clean and comfortable! They give you a map of where to go and what to do! The booking process was easy if a bit sketchy, since it is done via text message. Once we got to the island, the process of picking up and returning the car was smooth. No complaints.The main issue is that they only rent out cars that are suitable for pavement driving, and you will be charged extra if you drive off the pavement. This severely limits your options in terms of what you can do on an already limited island, as this strikes out being able to easily visit Garden of the Gods and Shipwreck Beach (two of the best attractions on Lanai in my opinion). You’re essentially left with being able to visit the cat sanctuary and puttering around Lanai City. There’s nothing wrong with either of those places, but only having those as options leaves a bit to be desired.Update: To address the response from the owners: The Maui and Lanai statement is a bit of a false equivalency since there are many, many more things to do on Maui than on Lanai aside from the Road to Hana. Thanks for the itinerary, but typically you’ll have about 6 hours to explore, it’s easy to spend more than one hour at the cat sanctuary, and the Koloiki trail takes closer to 2 hours. I’m not sure what these times have to do with being unable to drive to Shipwreck Beach or Garden of the Gods though. Finally, I would argue that a 6 hour day trip is not really conducive to unplugging and relaxing, since most people would want to make good use of the time/money spent on the ferry and the rental car fee. Besides, unplugging and relaxing is possible on the rest of the islands as well.In fact, your itinerary doesn’t really even require a rental car, if you’re essentially just staying near the harbor and only going into Lanai City for lunch. There are shuttles that can take you from the harbor to Lanai City for much cheaper than what it would cost to rent a car. It kind of raises the question of why a pavement-only car rental service is even needed on Lanai.

What an incredible experience on the island of Lana’i. Seeing the tide pools and dolphins at Hulopoe Beach were amazing. The views everywhere we looked were spectacular. Super responsive to our last minute needs! We made a last second trip to Lanai and were on our way to the island with no transportation confirmed. After some simple text messages and completing some forms from my phone, they had a car for us waiting right at the dock!The provide complete, detailed instructions on how to access the car, how to navigate the port after a recent water main break and closed road, and tips on navigating and exploring Lanai.The shuttles look handy and may save a few $$, but for our family of 4 having the extra flexibility to come and go where we wanted was worth the few extra dollars.Would recommend and use again, every time! Thank you again for really making our day trip to Lanai so great!

This was the easiest and most seamless car rental experience I've ever had! They were able to provide a car for me with little notice (not great planning on my end but it worked out), it was a great, clean car, AND super good on gas. We cruised around the island all day and refilled it for $7. They give a long list of things to do, and are very clear with their directions. Pickup was at the harbor so no need to pay $30 per person for a shuttle to Lāna'i city. Also, they reply with some witty gifs, bonus points!! I'm so happy I was able to support the locals by using this company 😁

So impressed with 808 Day Trip!! My parents decided to go to Lanai for a day to celebrate their anniversary, and I wanted to find them a rental car. I immediately saw 808 day trip through Google and texted them for info. They got back to me super quick, and the instructions were easy to follow to book!!
