Maybe I picked a bad night to go, but at $16 per person, plus tax--this was the worst food decision of my stay in Hawaii. The cashier said they were out of a number of things when we entered, but what they did have was wholly unappetizing. Between dry, chewy and fatty meat, oily soup and a general unappealing mess, I can never recommend anyone eat here. How can you not even get a brownie right? I felt sorry for the students who have to eat here daily. These pictures are only from 1/3 of the dining hall... I think they validate my feelings.

The new cafeterias is an nice place to eat, hang out and also study. The environment is just as confortable as a real restaurant.Having better opening hours especially for those finishing work late would be appreciated.

The building is very beautiful! I love the new environment. However oftentimes the food is cold once I get it. The yogurt and granola is so good.

They have various food options. You can check weekly menu on their website or instagram. I don't really like their pork. It doesn't taste fresh. Good place to gather with your friends and family as the name of the restaurant symbolizes.

I love the new Banyan dining hall and the extended menu. I’m Pescatarian and I didn’t have much of a variety for food in the old caf, but with the new caf I can finally use all my blocks. The building is beautiful too.

The Banyan Dining Hall is a great place. Perfect school campus setting for meals. Great big space and the second floor is a plus! I love the pizza they serve as well. So many options for meals. One thing I would improve is to up the quality of the food.

Oh boy… the facilities are great, but that’s about where the greatness ends. I get that the dining hall is still fairly new, but there are some significant downfalls that aren’t being addressed.First off, why have an upstairs dining section if you’re never going to open it for use? Second, when the cafeteria is almost at max capacity, why are you still letting non-students come in to eat? Tables are only clean when the doors first open, the food is rarely savoury. And the soda fountain is usually out of syrup. Food gets left out for an uncomfortable amount of time and as someone who worked in fast food for a long time, I know for a fact the employees aren’t following food handlers safety. It’s sort of a shame that students without kitchens on campus have to rely on the dining hall in this condition, especially with people from off campus coming in and taking up room. Locals treat it like a regular restaurant, but it’s really a shared kitchen for a thousand students who don’t have a kitchen to use.The place has great potential, but it seems like the management and attention to detail just isn’t there.

There aren’t many options to pick from in Laie so the dining hall is a solid choice. It can be a little pricey but it’s all you can eat which is nice. They have a dessert bar and salad bar which are both always ready to go. They also have a vegetarian option for each meal. One thing that could be improved is opening the upstairs it is more often than not closed and it’s hard to find seating when it is.

The food not really great but you can find anything to crave for. They have lots of option to choose, and the atmosphere of the new cafeteria gives you a new level of experience. It seems like you are in a high class restaurant. The aunties and crews are nice and fast to assist what you need.

I have actually never been to the Banyan Dining Hall, but here are some things that I have heard from others:1. The pizza is the best thing on the menu!2. They appreciate that more things are open now consistently than at the old caf.3. They enjoy the morning waffle machine.4. The hours are not great for all students needs and most of the food is horrible.

Banyan Dining Hall is a buffet restaurant with a spacious building. Beside for the busy hour, it is a great place to study as well. I enjoy the food as well as the service here. I think the variety of desserts and events are what makes this place so fun. I hope they have more option for vegetarian and pescatarian option.

The new cafeteria is nice. Bigger space, better equipment, and more food options. However, the food is the same as before. The student employees are very nice. They’re actually nicer than some of the full timers specially the old aunties. They’re grumpy often times and I don’t like it.

This place is literally saving hundreds of busy student’s life. Often times i got so busy & really don’t get time to cook for months. It’s such a blessing & time consuming to just come & eat yummy foods with variety of choices. Feeling so blessed to have Banyan Dining Hall over this 4 years of my college life.Keep up the good work 💪🏻

The meals are nicely prepared and there are various delicious meals at a time that students can pick and my favorite part is the fresh vegetables and salads. Something that can be improved is to have more meal plans. Because every time i get there there are pretty much the same foods all the time. If i go there always, i would get bored.

They just got better, beautiful view on the balcony. Pizza and smoothie stations are nice. Even though the building is new, the food didn't get better much. Employees are nice and kind, the aunty who works there is really adorable. However, $16 is little bit high for most of the students just for lunch while there is $6.5 subway sandwiches.

The Banyan Dining Hall is so nice and clean. I love how there is always a variety of food. My favorite part of the Banyan Dining Hall is the Smoothies. One thing I would recommend is that to have a station that we could make our own smoothies, if not at least have it open the entire time. Have it open all the time and it would be 5 Stars!

The new caf is nice, clean, and the staff is always nice. The food is good and the fruit/salad bar always has a good variety of fresh things. Sometimes it can be hard to find seating on the first floor though but you can always go upstairs, it's just less convenient .

My friend invited us to eat here thinking it's only $12 /person but to our amazement, the total was $69 for 4 people ($17.25/person). No discount for kamaaina or alumni nor seniors either For the amount of money they charge, the food should be good but to our disappointment, the food was really bad. For lunch, they had dried chicken nuggets with fries, spam and eggs with rice and furikake, pizza that looked like it came from a box, soups that were awful. No veggies except the salad bar.For the students that are eating here, they are not getting nutritious food at all! The food selection needs to be evaluated by a nutritionist. The building is new and clean but you are not going to see me here for lunch or dinner again!A big menu improvement needs to be looked at.

I love the the Pan Asian dressing! It’s my favorite salad at the Banyan Dining Hall. Other good food choices are the pizzas (pepperoni and supreme) and the chow mein. One thing to improve on would be the freshness of the food.

Beautiful new building didn’t make the caf food suddenly taste any better. It’s offensive that they charge $16 a person to provide what they do.Go get Seven Brothers, McDonalds, L&L, even Taco Bell for better and cheaper.

We've been coming to Hawaii for 30 years and have always enjoyed the meals on the campus for a change. While the new building is nice, the food was not good. I feel sorry for the students who are trying to maintain a healthy diet here. It's not going to happen. The food was horrible. I'm sad to write this review.

All the facilities and equipment are new. The space is bigger than the former cafeteria which can accommodate more students. It looks a lot more sanitized and organized. The variety of the dessert got also better. However, the quality of main menu is still the same.

The New Cafe is clean, modern, and an exciting place to go to. The unfortunate part of the cafe is that the food options do seem to be a little limited and way too expensive for what is being offered. I would like if there were more options and maybe even competitive prices to other places to eat around campus but other than that, it is an amazing addition to campus.

I love the variety of food they have when you go there. Also that is an all you can eat. The staff are pretty nice and kind as well! One thing I would improve on is maybe switch it up a bit I feel like it’s just the same food over and over.

I ate at this cafeteria a handful of times they often have good selection and variety of food, the other thing I love is the ice-cream machines, the facilities are also beautiful and state of the art. Although there is a great amount of food, I would say in general the taste of the food is less than satisfactory.
