These folks are doing a phenomenal job. They provide a loving shelter for animals of all kinds who are begging to find a human companion to share their life. I went there to find my next baby after sending my other baby to heaven. I wanted them all! But Mougli was waiting for me to pick him. Somebody could be waiting for you!

They are very rude. Do not answer the phones at all. I had questions but every time I would call they would send me straight to voicemail. Then when I thought they answered the phone theyād hang up on me. Terrible service and rude people.

A little muddy and stinky and rundown, but I would never judge a book by its cover! Running a rescue is hard, thankless, exhausting work. So many critters in need...saw pigs, chickens and of course kitties and doggies. I wish I could have taken a few home to the mainland. But I brought 500 lbs of food and flea meds. I love me some critters and the humans who dedicate their hearts to them.

Very unsanitary conditions, dirty, chicken poop everywhere, stinky "kennels", cats everywhere running loose, understaffed, and they lie about their animals health just to get them adopted out.We tried the foster to adopt program with an older dog Pua who they say is in good health but in reality she is very sick, my veterinarian confirmed it is a life ending sickness and so did others I know who worked in vet offices. The two women there couldn't even remove her from her "kennel" because she was "too strong" which tells me she doesn't get out much. They had me go into the stinky kennel and get her myself. When we returned her the next day they were not concerned about her health issues, Mary Rose, the owner, gave us bad attitude and did not care to hear about what we experienced. They simply put her back up for adoption and said she is fine. They gave us zero paperwork or true info about the dog and the living conditions of these animals there is just awful.

My friend came here and got a cat. The cat was in an awful living situation including fecal matter everywhere, no proper food or water, and barely kept together ācat housesā. She was told her cat was vaccinated, tested, and all taken care of. She received zero paper records of any of the cats medical history. The cat was incredibly matted and super itchy only to find out she had a massive flea infestation. It is to the point the cat is going to need a lion cut to help her fur and her fleas. She also took a poop back at home and she had worms. She had no name at the shelter and was extremely malnourished along with not being litter box trained. Iām sure a lot of the cats there have worms due to the water and food situation a long with fleas. This poor baby girl is suffering and thankfully we have a good support system of people who can help her get back to health. But shame on this place for ever treating and housing animals in such a manner a long with lying about records. We still arenāt sure if she is spayed which is careless and dangerous. This place doesnāt deserve the good review score it has. These poor animals deserve better.

Great place! They do have a lot of dogs that could definitely use homes. Because they run on volunteers, they could use the help in the organization on the property.I give them many props for what they do in the community, to have an animal shelter is not an easy job!The people are very great here and easy to work with.

I have donated $30. every month for the last 8 years. I don't even live in Hawaii anymore but I will continue. I am reading some pretty awful reviews about the place now so I challenge all the negative comment people to put their money where their mouths are. Everyone can help out with a donation and if there are enough contributions the problems you write about will be fixed. Give some aloha - green aloha to our animal friends. Maybe give up one expensive Starbuck coffee?

This place is horrible. The staff were extremely rude to us. (Myself & keiki) We went there in hopes of adopting a dog/puppy (we wanted the pup to pick us). This place was disgusting, stink, and rundown. The animals living conditions are horrible. To be honest, the animals need to be rescued from them. We walked around for a few minutes but the woman seemed annoyed with us being there, then some dogs started to come at us to attack slamming up against the already falling apart fence/old metal roof thing so I just got myself and kids out of there. This place needs to be shut down. Itās unsafe for animals and humans. Wish I could give this place negative stars. Shame on you for allowing animals to live like this!!!

I got my puppy at a adoption clinic that they had about a month ago. The one person said if I decided I didn't want her I can bring her back. I would never do that to her! When I did go to that place I thought this place is awful!! They should be giving dogs and cats away instead of selling them. Any home they go to would be better than there! And they are very disorganized on keeping the animals records. I gave them a 2 instead of one cause I guess their intentions are good.

When we got there the person that greeted us was nice, when the lady came out she was not having it. We were asking her question she seemed like she didnāt want to be there, she gave us attitude and made like we were dumb. She walked away and slammed a business card on the trash, we just left we felt unwelcome so we left without saying anything.

Aloha to all that read this post and please know that I am not a type of person that likes to complain nor write reviews but every time I think of my experience with this place it gets underneath my skin. For the staff members here or ones in charge, hope you guys start putting more effort for a worried, concern, animal lover. Her name was Phoebe on the website a few months ago. My girlfriend, came in looking for her specifically since Phoebe had a color and disposition that would compliment her other dog at home for a good companion. Phoebe's name was changed on day 1 of bringing her home to Aka. She was timid at 1st but in the next few days her personality starting showing. Playful, energetic, and super sweet. She was a good dog and she kept her companion running around the yard and alert since she loved to sneak up to play. Aka had her issues from her past and she needed more attention to break some bad habits than your average dog. She didn't learn very fast but she responded to her name and certain commands such as sit were slowing being picked up. Anyways, sadly :-( to say Aka was brought back to the shelter after one full month, since my GF couldn't deal with her anymore. I was heart broken. There was something very special to Aka that with more time and patience would have been revealed. I was told she was returned before from a previous owner and my biggest worry was that she was going to be put down. I call, I emailed, I called multiple times and left messages and never was contacted back. I would of loved to visit her and would of volunteered to walk her or take her for a day and more importantly find her a good home talking to friends and co-workers, neighbors, etc. After 3 weeks or so of being neglected, I showed up hoping to talk to someone face to face to get answers. I rang downstairs and had to talk into a speaker box. The girl on the other end seemed too lazy to come down, said she was adopted and then had no idea who Aka or Phoebe was. Put me hold for a minute or two and kept saying she couldn't answer any of my questions because it's confidential. If she really got adopted, is it too much to say a little more details. Adopted by family with kids. Adopted to an elderly couple. Did she moved to another facility? Or was she actually euthanized.

It seem they have expanded past what they can maintain. Dogs are barking 24/7 in a neighborhood where people need to sleep. It's been mentioned they don't have enough people to keep up the maintenance anymore and they just got approved to intake animals that will be put down. The surrounding neighbors had to get together for them to install a fence and actually keep the animals in. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because they are trying to do something good, just not good at it.

Upon my 1st visit i was greeted with a smile and alot of aloha from the staff members upon parking my car being that one of the employees was out in the parking area. And upon requesting assistance was escorted and directed to what specific reason and area that i was going too. It was a so very pleasant experience to be acknowledged and greeted by all of the employees that was in the general facility of my visit which really made me feel 100% welcomed. It was a really amazing trip there and i do recommend goin there to see as well as to visit.Excellent..

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place keeps terminal animals alive and suffering with poor quality of life until they painfully kick the bucket on their own. Nobody's ever paying attention here and that's resulted in several of their roaming cats being mauled to death by either the aggressive dogs housed by the sanctuary or dogs that live on the same road as the sanctuary. Mary Rose needs to come back down to planet earth. There's literally a reason this placed was raided by HPD...

So grateful there is a place like this. Operated through the good hearts of volunteers and donors, this sanctuary could use more TLC.

Rainbow friends is a lovely adoption center with a no-kill policy. It is where we adopted one of our most beloved cats, Harrison, (who was passed away). At rainbow friends, they take care of stray cats and dogs, with medical care, and will never kill any cats or dogs who or not adopted. Love it! <3

These guys do amazing work with catching strays and giving them a home and with the free spay and neutering programs for cats and dogs. I've had the honor of volunteering at 3 of the spaying/neutering clinics. These guys work hard for a good cause. And I've adopted multiple animals from up at there awesome sanctuary. Highly recommend them when you are looking for a new furry friend for your family. Or if you have some free time and need something to do go on up and volunteer. Theres a class that they like you to take but it's worth it to help out with a wonderful sanctuary and a team of hard working people and tons of adorable and lovable dogs and cats who are looking for a little love. Mahalo nui loa to rainbow friends for all they do for the community.

Please, please do not bring animals here. Things are not what they used to be, animals do not receive proper care, food shortages are routine, and many dogs are kept full time in transport crates. In the last year or so, this facility has slid from being marginally passable into being a straight up hoard. Itās extremely sad and current management is not interested in remediation.

Took a tour of the place. Nice outdoor kennels for dogs, cateries for felines, a random rooster and a couple of swine on the grounds as well. All looked to be well cared for by friendly volunteers.

We found a kitty outside my kid's daycare. No one knew what to do with it. I called and brought it here. From what i understand, they are a no kill place. Donate money, volunteer, this place is doing good work.
