Finally found a vet on island that actually cares about the animals and DOES NOT make the whole experience feel like you’re buying a car from the dealership by trying to add on shots and prescriptions without knowing what they are for! First thing Kim did was get down to my dogs level and comfort her while giving a full inspection finding everything abnormal and having a reason and solution that wasn’t just throwing a prescription but actually giving insight into what caused the condition. Also gave amazing instructions for how to better clean my pups ears to avoid this from happening in the future!! She took samples of an infection and did the lab work while I was still there so I could walk out with the proper antibacterial treatment regiment. My dog got a first time check up visit, blood work, lab test, and 2 different medications to treat her ear infection and skin for less than the annual check up at last vet we went to and we were in and out faster than the time waiting in the exam room for our previous veterinarian, but she still apologized for a wait even tho it was super quick, efficient, more hands on care of my dog and took the time to teach me so much more!All in all Kim is a First class proper veteran with a top notch team of friendly knowledge animal loving amazing people!!!

I am very pleased with the service I received for my French Bulldog. We came to Dr. Barros specifically for nares surgery (elongated soft palate resection & brachycephalic syndrome repair). From our first appointment, the staff was very nice and helpful. Dr. Barros explained what my dog was going through trying to breathe and explained everything from A to Z about the procedure and what specifically my dog needed. He calmed my nerves about putting my dog through this and I left feeling very comfortable. Day of surgery was no different, staff was amazing, doctor explained what went on and I was shown a couple pics of the nares during surgery. Follow up appointment - again, great. Anyone on Maui with Frenchies (or similar) that need this surgery - I highly recommend Dr. Barros and his staff!

I am so thankful to have found Dr. Barros when my puppy needed both Trochleoplasty and Tibial Tubercle Transposition surgeries. Dr. Barros was very patient; he took the time to answer all of my questions pre and post surgeries. My puppy has healed up perfectly. You can't even tell she has had surgeries on both knees except for the scars. The staff in the clinic were all helpful and friendly as well.

Wonderful service for my pet rabbit. Staff are friendly and caring. Veterinarian Dr. Barros is very kind, knowledgeable, and gave me clear, easy to follow instructions. My rabbit also got her nails trimmed and doing happy zoomies and leaping in the air. My rabbit feels very good.Today was my rabbit’s second visit to Animal Care and Wellness Center. Dr. Barros did the surgery to neuter my rabbit (female) about 1.5 years ago. She healed quickly back then with no complications. My rabbit is small even for a rabbit. At 6 months of age, she was even smaller. Very skilled doctor to work on such a tiny pet. I would highly recommend for rabbit care and services.

I took my dog to get an allergy testing done and everything went smoothly. I really appreciate the time and effort that the staff has put into taking care of our animals and doing it efficiently. My dog had what looked like a small scab on his paw pad and had been limping for 6 weeks. Two vets told me it was nothing to worry about but I knew something was wrong. I saw the stellar reviews for Dr. Barros and was able to see him right away. He used a laser to remove precise amounts of tissue until he revealed a thorn underneath the scab. He sealed the hole and bandaged the paw well to protect it. I’m very grateful that he didn’t dismiss my dog’s pain, took the time to find out the cause and even took a photo of the thorn and disinfected paw before bandaging it up so I could see it. I have 2 dogs and 5 cats, and Dr. Barros has earned 7 new patients! Btw the staff - from his nurse to the techs and receptionist are very kind and sweet. They make the office feel very relaxed and comfortable, which I’m sure animals pick up on. My dog liked being there! Yay!

~Animal Care Hospital in Kula is truly a place of ALOHA~We were referred to Dr. Barros by our Vet clinic because of his strong track record with performing the type of surgery my dog needed to repair his Canine Cruciate Ligament (CCL) in his right knee. Although I had hoped to do alternative therapies, Dr. Barros explained that the surgery would significantly fix the injury and ensure Lauloaʻs quality of life. He assured me with his 25+ years of experience. We were quoted for the costs which included a discount. It was definitely unexpected and I could not believe that Dr. Barros was so generous after meeting us for the first time at that consultation appointment. Corey helped us to start the Care Credit application process and Tiaʻs mom even helped me with notarizing documents to verify my identity to get approval for the Care Credit. Everyone went above and beyond to help us get Lauloa the surgery he needed. Lauloa has recovered far better than I anticipated and I am so very thankful that we worked with Dr. Barros and his caring team. It definitely helps that they are only two minutes down the road from where we live. I am staying with Dr. Barros and his team because they have shown us so much Aloha in these past few months which feels far and few these days to be honest. We truly appreciate them!Today, we met Dr. Bolotov who trimmed nails and did anal gland expressions. I appreciated that she came to talk to me afterwards about my dogs. I feel like I learned more about my dogs today and itʻs something I appreciate very much. She was personable, professional, and had nice things to say about my fur babies. Itʻs always nice to get other folksʻ impressions of your dogs--especially Vets. Her comments made me smile.We highly recommend Animal Care Hospital in Kula if you are looking for down-to-earth, caring, highly skilled and highly intelligent doctors. Dr. Barros and his staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I bring my dogs there for everything from routine care to emergencies. We have two female dogs: 9 yrs and 2 yrs. We are a farm family, so are dogs are a bit on the rugged side. Last year Dr Barros performed surgery on my 8-year old dog for pyometra. He saved her lif and she now has the energy of a puppy! He is definitely not a "discount vet" but, at he will made suggestions on how I could save money o medications. Great guy, great place!

I’m a bit floored by this clinic. The best among veterinary care, undoubtedly. We were referred to Dr. Barros from the overnight ER doctors in Central Maui and we showed up in his lobby the next morning with a cat in pretty bad shape. She had suffered an awful leg injury and amputation was a viable outcome. Dr. Barros performed a rather tricky surgery on her the same day despite his obviously busy (and beloved) clinic’s schedule. He spent time explaining options and was honest about outcomes and estimates, what he may be able to do and where we would have to hope a little. We felt it natural to trust him and that trust helped equip us to face the worst if it came to be. Luckily our kitty seems to have positive odds for now due to the success of his surgery. She is even purring… Dr. Barros has the experience you hope for in a veterinarian and the humanity you crave when you are experiencing pet trauma. So highly recommend to anyone 🙏🏻

I want to thank Dr Dennis and the whole staff at Kula animal hospital. Unfortunately, my 12 year old dog was diagnosed with severe bone cancer.In order to avoid any more suffering he had to be euthanized, the staff showed me the utmost compassion at this very difficult and stressful time. Dr Dennis was considerate and professional throughout, when I am ready for a new dog Kula animal hospital will be the only choice for me, I highly recommend them.

Hands down the best vet on Maui! I just had a litter of English bulldog puppies and while no other vet wanted to take on the task Dr. Brown and his team went above and beyond to make sure everything went well. 5 star service! They make you feel like family. They took me in on two days notice and called me numerous times to check up on Luna(my pregnant bulldog) to make sure she was doing well all the way up until surgery. Unlike other vets that just get you in and out and want nothing but your money, Animal Care Hospital goes above and beyond to make sure you leave fully informed and satisfied. If I trust them so should you! Nothing but positive things to say about them. Thank you Dr. Brown, Dr. Cindy, Michelle, U’I and the rest of your crew for all that you do! I will be a return customer for sure.

I have been going to this vet for at least 4 years. Staff is very friendly. HOWEVER, I do feel the prices are high and the system there has become more about money than the care. I took my dog today to makawao vet and received wonderful care for a fraction of the price. They also gave me a medicated shampoo for my dog, that really helped instead of all the steroid pills from Kula vet, which never suggested the shampoo.Definitely not going back to Kula vet.

Today Maliko, Uno and I went to see the doc. Uno had a broken 'thumbnail' giving him fits. Instead of Dr. Barros, we saw/met Dr. Bolotov. She was personable and knowledgeable- a winning combination!! The doctor gave poor Uno too much anesthesia. She had us leave before Uno was even aware enough to walk on his own. No one walked with us to help me get him to my truck. Another dog owner in the parking lot helped me get Uno in my truck. Came home where Uno laid on the floor for 4hours!! with very shallow breathing. I called very concerned. Sadly, this has left me wondering. Dr. Barros has known Uno since he was born. I had an appointment with him as far as I knew. No one bothered to tell me there was another doctor now...Just real disappointed and not sure if I will return. Feeling kind of letdown.B
