If I could give 0 stars I would. I went to return something I had purchased the day before for $5. The clerk, Vida was her name, ended up charging me more than $180. She was incapable of correcting this, so called her manager, and her name was Marlene (the manager). When I mentioned to the manager that I was in a rush and had to get back to work, she became very hostile and practically yelled, saying that she could take my phone number and we could just take care of it later. Again, I went to return something for $5, and they charged me over $180 and tried to tell me they couldn't do anything about it. After 20 more minutes or so, they finally fixed the issue (I think) but I don't think I received my initial refund for the $5. This likely ranks as the single worst shopping experience I've ever had. I would not recommend this store to anyone.

Had a bad experience at hardware hawaii. Went for a 3 gallon bucket, cashier couldnt find sku, she asked author furuta the paint guy since it was his department he saw me standing there and told her don't ask him wont know. She went and looked with another associate went to look, no luck.. They had a lumber yard associate look, and he found it on the bungee cord. Everyone grumbles about author, and his lack of........it's sad service is so 👎 bad. Very disappointed in author and hardware hawaii. Your commercial says you value your customers, but your employee doesn't.

Arrive at 2:52p on Sunday and the parking lot is chained closed, employee outside won't let me in. I try to park on street but employee is running his finger across his throat, telling me they close at 3p. I look at my phone, which is correct time. 2:55p now. Only needed one thing real quick. Oh well, guess they're in a hurry to get home. Nice having a hardware store close by, and I always try to give them my business but I'll be thinking about this experience on my drive to Home Depot.

Great customer service and Linda is always so pleasant! My biggest complaint is that they used to have a lot more options for untreated and prime lumber but they barely have anything now. There's plenty of plain wooden doors to choose from though!

Good hardware store. They do have propane service. Staff is helpful and will get assistance when they do not know the answer. They carry genuine building supplies for local needs so you are generally safe in your selection choices. Lumber is decent as well.

Staff knows their inventory, their paint colors and how to mix an excellent can of paint. The paint PERFECTLY matched a can they'd mixed for me a year ago and I was able to use it to touch up the wall. Wow - I thought I'd be painting the whole room if it didn't match. These guys know their colors and mixology expertly. AND, they know inventory and send me to the right aisle everytime. We're so fortunate to have such experts in little ol' Koloa Town.

Everything is overpriced. Take 10 extra minutes and drive to bigger store. You will save at least 20%.
