I am very glad that the veteran that recently posted an excellent review got excellent care and I wish I could say the same. I was referred there by the nurse at the VA clinic in Hilo and was so happy to be able to be get labs done, be seen right away and fill an urgent prescription with no charge to me. I wasn't aware that this is a benefit to vets and was relieved to be able to do this. Even though there was a bit of a wait, my intake person was great, my nurse was great and the Dr. I saw was also great. Until I went to Longs to fill the prescription. At first I was told that I had to update my insurance information. I had given the intake clerk at the clinic my Veteran ID and explained why and how I was coming in, but nothing was noted in the system, according to the pharmacy. I went inside to update, only to be told that I had to pay out of pocket because I was not given the paperwork from the clinic needed to process the prescription. I called the clinic and asked to pick up the paper, thinking I could be credited and the proper entity would be billed if I brought this to Longs. In the meantime, I verified all this (on two separate calls) with the VA support line that coordinates with Urgent Care. They assured me that the medicine is covered and that I could put them on the phone with the pharmacist if there was a problem. I picked up the paperwork, went back to Longs, now being told that the Dr. had put a refill on the prescription, unbeknownst to me, (and this is a one and done treatment which requires no refill within a year?) which prevented them, by law, from crediting me back. They did not want to speak to the support line. I went back to the clinic, to be told that the Dr. was not there and someone would call me from the Admin to see if the Dr. could cancel the refill so that I could be eligible for reimbursement. Of course, the woman at the desk had no idea why the Dr. did this, so I do not blame her. Keep in mind I had never used this benefit before, so I didn't know what I was supposed to do or ask for. And there was a window of time I had to fit into to do so. I trusted the clinic to take care of me, and though I got good medical service (hence 3 stars) they dropped the ball in my opinion, as no one has called me, the window is closing and now I have to try and go through the VA directly to be reimbursed. BTW, the last woman I dealt with at Longs was so salty...but that is another story. I got good care, but this experience with the money was a nightmare, all the way around.

I went to this urgent care because my sister needed to get seen and I also needed help. The receptionist, nurse, and the doctor who helped me are absolutely amazing. I am also a veteran and they made sure to give me the paper I needed to show the pharmacist at Long’s Drugs to make sure that I DID NOT PAY ANYTHING for the meds they would prescribe to me THAT DAY and the following day once the prescription got filled. I DID NOT have to wait 7-10 days for medication to come from Oahu, which is what my VA doctor said was the ONLY way for me to get medication. Guess Urgent Care knows how to get my medications to me much faster than the VA does. I will continue to come here when I need help because this Urgent Care didn’t send me a bill after this visit. They sent me the invoice that the VA paid to ensure I got the level of care that I needed, the medications I needed when I needed them, and felt like i was heard and that my pain was valid and would be taken care of.

My household was getting sick with streps, respiratory infections, fever that comes & go, congestion, sore throat, ear infections and really bad cough.Took them to Keeau Urgent Care on 2 different occasions & were seen by 2 different doctors. Fortunately, they were prescribed the proper medicine like antibiotics & nasal steroids to help them recover better.5/5 stars ⭐️ rating for those 2 visits. But when I went to Urgent care a few days after my household members were seen, I was assisted with a doctor that non of my household members have met, whom took only 5 mins to check my chest, throat & to inform that ALL my results came out Negative. The doctor concluded that since all the results were negative, I am fine & good to go home lol 😂 No prescriptions, 5 mins results overview, & that was it.Fastest & worst urgent care visit I’ve ever experienced due to the lack of empathy & interest to understand what I was going through.1 / 5 stars ⭐️ rating for my visit.Even when I explained that my household members were prescribed the proper meds that greatly benefited them, & that I may need the same meds since I am experiencing the same symptoms, the doctor just looked at me, said my results were negative & that was it.If I were you, it’s Best to go to another Urgent Care because a couple of the doctors here are extremely exhausted & burnt out. They need higher pay, 3 months paid vacations, and less scheduled days so that they can return to work with more empathy & care for their patients. All the Nurses & front desks were Super Nice & made the overall experience less stressful, so Mahalo to them along with the 1st 2 doctors that assisted my household members.

Me & my family will be going elsewhere due to Ms. Tokumura! Front desk & nurses were amazing! But when this lady came in the room she had the impression that we didn’t know what a flu was. And kept comparing it to a cold.. she repeatedly cut me off because she’s the doctor & she has a degree. Somebody please get this lady fired already!! We’d be lucky the few times we did go in it was dr. Souza Most amazing woman ever!! She Helped me & my family without judgement or being rude! Like a doctor should be she listened first and asked her questions after..

I’m writing about 6 months later. If I could give a zero I would. My 1 year old had just been diagnosed with hand foot mouth and strep. I had an awful sore throat so I went in to get a strep test. My son and I were in the parking lot for 3 hours. He was crying his eyes out. I was exhausted. Once I finally got in (after they had taken someone who had come after me) I was waiting another half an hour. I begged to be seen literally crying. Dr. Tokumura came in opened the door and said oh if you don’t want to be here then go. And stood there pointing out the door treating me like a dog getting kicked out of the house. I begged to be seen and she rolled her eyes and said what’s the problem. My strep came back negative. I said how’s that possible. I told her my son has HFM and strep. She said my sore throat was from a post nasal drip. I felt totally helpless I asked to get a swab again thinking maybe the nurse didn’t swab in the right place? She jammed the cotton swab down my throat super hard and was laughing. She said, “ohh don’t back away! You wanted this!” Still negative results. When I got home I researched and found HFM actually causes a severe sore throat with open sores and blisters. If she were a half decent doctor she might’ve looked into that. And she saw the sores and said it’s a post nasal drip!? Was she even trying? She prescribed me allergy medication even though I said it’s not a post nasal drip. She rolled her eyes. I said I can’t take naproxen but can take ibuprofen. She said it’s the same thing. It’s actually not. She is an awful human being who clearly thinks she’s better and smarter than everyone else. I’ve had many health issues and I’m 35. I know my body really well and know when I have a post nasal drip. This woman should lose her license. She clearly got a medical degree for the wrong reasons. What an awful awful human. May she be greatly humbled.

My third experience, in just over a year. The front staff is amazing but Dr. S. Tokomura was the most judge mental, and rude, doctor I have ever met. She deserves to lose her license for being the way she was. This doctor made me feel unsafe and was very disrespectful. I will report her officially. Doctors are not allowed to place judgement, they are there for a service. I’m pregnant and she made my anxiety rise so hard, after only speaking with her for less than 90 seconds, that my legs were shaking when I went to leave. She walked out of the room I was in and didn’t say anything to me about the medication I needed and was prescribed. She was not professional AT ALL. if you hate your job that much, then change it. All i needed was antibiotics for an ear infection that had existed for over two weeks.

I wish I could give zero stars but it won’t allow me to please do not go to this clinic the staff there need fresh air. Their masks are too constricting. That is the worst case of iTriage Seriously, a gross display of how on organized a team could be. Please don’t go there go to Pahoa go to Hilo go elsewhere you’ll be thankful and grateful you did.

Front desk was kind and helpful. Doctor barely saw me for 90 seconds. Medicine prescribed made me super dizzy so I called to ask if that was normal. Receptionist was nice, put me on hold, a man answered who acted like I was completely inconveniencing him. Told me to discontinue medicine and I “should” be fine. I asked about the infection coming back and he said it probably wouldn’t and sighed again like I was annoying him. Really terrible care in general. Avoid this place if possible.

As a 16 year old girl I went in after experiencing pain in my rectum. After asking for an ultra sound and a piss test the doctor said he wouldn’t do any of those unless he looked at my rectum. After saying I was uncomfortable, he literally asked about 10 times to see my rectum and made jokes to my mom saying “he’s seen worse” it felt like I was pressured even after saying I was uncomfortable, the doctor was horrible and it felt like he was perving. After saying no multiple times he sent the nurse in with a blanket, still denying the nurse said ok and took the blanket out.His name was doctor warsh Stephan

The NP didn’t even introduce herself to me when she walked in, I wasn’t sure if she was the provider or nurse the whole visit until I googled her name at the end. I was the only patient in the clinic and parking lot yet she only spent 30 seconds talking to me and <5 minutes for the whole visit. Wouldn’t go back. Not the worst care of my life but I certainly didn’t leave feeling any better at all.

This urgent care is the worst! The receptionist is extremely rude & very unprofessional! A nurse refused to let me walk in with my son who is 3 years old who clearly needs to be seen by a medical professional and needs antibiotics. All because he didn’t have a mask. But I was fine to walk into the facility with no mask?! It makes absolutely no sense! I’ve never had to have a mask on him while visiting this location or the Hilo location. They staff here are always grumpy & look like they hate their jobs. If you don’t want to be in this profession or don’t even have the courtesy to treat people with simple respect then quit your job & be miserable elsewhere!

The absolute worst customer service I've ever had. The Doctor ( Jennifer Grune) was absolutely rude and unprofessional. The nurse who was writing stuff in computer was rude and unprofessional as well. I will be filing a grievance at Kaiser Permanente as they are an affiliate. Absolutely the worse place you could go, AVOID AT ALL COST. It looks like according to reviews I'm not the only one being belittled and treated like trash. Unbelievable 😔

My experience was absolutely horrible I know there is an oath that doctors and nurses take because my sister is a RN and felt that Dr. Sharon Takumura broke all of them. I have just been diagnosed with cancer I have lost both my parents to cancer so it is a very scary time for me that being said I'm be more health conscience. Dr. Takumura made me feel like a complete idiot. I asked her why are you making me feel attacked I seriously don't understand why you are treating me this way and her comment was "I only have these", as she shook her hands in my face, "and these" as she points her hands to her face in an aggressive manor. I was completely appalled I don't want your diagnosis and walked out in tearsat that and told her nevermind

I was be-littled and told if i grew up here i would know that allergies are a common thing here. They are extremely rude and unprofessional. I was prescribed allergy medication when i don’t have serious allergy issues. I couldn’t even get a word in explaining my symptoms the doctor was quick to assume. Allergies were not the case, mold exposure was and my daughter and i continued to stay in a non habitable place because of this wrong diagnosis making us even sicker. I recommend urgent care behind longs drugs they’re much more friendly and show that they care!

So grateful to find Kea'au Urgent Care. The staff from reception to the intake nurses to Dr. Souza were kind and professional. The whole visit took under 2 hours which is much faster than many of the urgent care visits I have had in Seattle. I do recommend bringing a book or a magazine with you to read while you wait. The consultation with Dr. Souza was efficient and effective. She addressed all my concerns about the medications she recommended and set me up with a treatment plan that is working out great. It's a relief for me to know that if I need health care while visiting the area, I have a place I know will take care of meThank you, Kea'au Urgent Care!

i only came for two things, a strep throat test and a doctors note, why does it take two hours to get it? and a couple of the nurses were nice, but the physician that saw me was very rude after i said something about the wait time, seriously needs to be fixed, treat your customers with some respect or close down the establishment.

Providers are degrading, make you feel stupid basically questioning why you are there and not seeing your own PCP. Well maybe because my doctors office is closed on the weekend. If you don’t have a good bedside manner you shouldn’t be caring for patients. When someone isn’t feeling well or is in pain they don’t need to be treated badly on top of that.

If you are uninsured, it costs $150 to be seen. I arrived promptly at 8:30 am and waited 30 minutes to be seen. Dr. Miller was friendly, compassionate and competent. I was 100% satisfied with the care l received.

Could tell as soon as nurse practitioner walked I she didn't want to help me was in a bad mood, lied saying she couldn't help me when I know for a fact could've ordered labs to be taken and she jus didn't want to help. She needs an attitude adjustment big time yo be working with patients. Everyone else there was nice only reason deserve a 1 star. Will never go back to this place again never been treated like that at an urgent care on this island. Would give zero stars if possible.

Had to make multiple visits for my problem. Wait times are okay, and everyone is nice and professional. The clinic is pretty tech savvy with check-in and patient portal. Lab results are posted for my review even if I can't understand them. The staff, nurses and doctors are great. Dr. Warsh is a genuine gem. Wish there were more like him these days. Just remember that good patients are kind and respectful.

Had a great experience from check-in to finish on a Sunday morning in June, 2020. The doctor saw me after a wait of less than 15 minutes, and she was very attentive and professional. I had to get a ring cut off due to an injured finger, and she took care of it with no damage to me and very little to the jewelry. The facility was clean with very good and clearly visible measures to deal with Covid-19. The clerk and nurse were also very polite and helpful.I can't recommend this group enough.

Zero 🌟.. If you care about your health don't go to this urgent care. The "NP" Jill Heather Hirata didn't even care or try to treat my symptoms, she just stood in the doorway and said your fine and walked out like I was an inconvenience. I ended up going to the ER where I was given antibiotics for a Respiratory infection. I remember when this urgent care had compassion and took the time to examine the patients. So if anything avoid this place.

We had to stop here as my daughter turned her ankle while hiking in Volcano National Park. Everyone here at Keaau Urgent Care were friendly, professional, and very patient (especially with us being mainlanders with lots of questions). Able to be checked, X-rayed, braced and out the door in record time without feeling rushed. Excellent Care!!! Great People!!!

I had a great experience here. I was seen almost immediately, and everyone was very friendly, even made jokes. Usually I'm very timid at doctor's offices, but I was treated with a lot of genuine care-- something you don't see too often anymore. The doctor I saw actually cared about how I was feeling and didn't just try to diagnose and shoo me away with a prescription. Would honestly go here instead of my primary care lol

You have a bad gatekeeper. I'm utterly dissatisfied with the 'service' provide at your hospital. I visited this afternoon, and sadly the person at the front desk, showed her lack of professionalism. I think that might be the reflection of one of two things, either the that particular person doesn't have what is needed for such an important job or, the clinic is not providing the training to their staff that the community deserves.I was not in a terrible emergency this afternoon, but I would like that in the future someone in an unfortunate situation needs help at least could be provided with some guidance. After all, are you not a health provider? This afternoon what I experienced was negligence, more than once, from your staff, and it's not fair, for me or for anyone. There are some basic humane things that your gatekeeper should be trained in.I tried to find an email to contact you, but there is not information available.

The Aloha that was shared by your wonderful staff made a very stressful moment for me so easy to do. You all put me at ease doing what I usually have a hard time with. Dr Miller was the bomb! He listened to me and took the time to really zero in on what I needed even though I was having trouble explaining it to him. With both my sister and myself being retired nurses we were so thankful for his care. Mahalo nui loa.

Zero stars. This urgent care used to be good until it was taken over by someone only concerned with making money and not in genuine medicine. Do not trust this place. You’d be much better off going to the veterinarian next door for adequate care.

I’ve been here three or four times and been very satisfied. The staff was friendly and warm, knowledgeable and thorough. There is enough parking, and big trees to shade cars if in this time of covid you wish to wait in your car. ..a big plus in my opinion.Kudos to these folks! They even answer their phones quickly, with a real human, instead of three minutes of recorded “press one”, “press .seventeen” etc.

Took my 6 year old here to check out fever/soreness in body. I suspected his 6 year molars were erupting, but wanted to be sure we weren't getting sick during pandemic. Nurses were wonderful and kind and got him both flu and Covid swabs. However, the doctor was dismissive, clearly in a hurry, and talked over me and my son to tell us it was just a virus - turns out, a couple days later - his teeth ARE coming in, hence the low grade fever and complaints of headache. I wish she would have listened and even considered what I had to say as a possibility - she's the expert, and I'm sure they are sick of people showing up with a WebMD PhD, but it's nice to also LISTEN to your patients.
