Excellent playground. Clean and tidy. Astroturf surface, which is new to me. The kids said it was nice to jump on. There's a shelter with 4 picnic tables, and one bench facing the playground. There's a baseball diamond, soccer pitches, a basketball court, and washrooms.

Huge park! No swings but it has all the other amenities! Soccer fields, basketball court, ping pong, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. It has a small pavillion and public restrooms. This is one of our preferred playgrounds for my 2 and 3 year olds!

I love this park! Can do many sports here. Lots of space. But don't know why it's call "Ka'u School" instead of Shipman Park on Google Maps.

Nice quiet place to eat your lunch. Some times the kids play soccer games or just for practice. Soccer games usually take place on the weekends. During the week a lot of people use the area to jog around. They also have a tennis court and is usually open for the public. They have a pavilion that has restrooms available and a small play ground for the kids to play. Park is big enough to fly kites and drones. I enjoy it a lot.

If Shipman wants to leave a legacy, they'll have to do better than just donate land for a small park... how about more parks, bigger parks, or selling some land for cheap in Hilo to Costco?! 🤣Besides that, it's a decent park! It has bathrooms that could use some work, b-ball courts, tennis courts, soccer field, but no skate park! There needs to be a skate park! 😜

Nice park n play ground. Tennis courts, small basketball court, pavilion with tables, and one play area for smaller children and one for a little older.Lots of soccer playing field.Super fun place for the family.Many birthday parties here because if all the available space.

Park consists of an open-air basketball court that has lighting for night time use, 1 baseball diamond for general use and 1 for league use, lots of open fields for kite flying, running around, soccer, etc. It has a newly fixed up playground that the kids enjoy playing on. It has a double tennis court, too. There is one pavilion for open use, but may also be reserved through the Department of Parks and Rec. The pavilion is decent sized with several long picnic tables and bathrooms. The bathrooms are a little beat up and small. Overall, it is a great park!

This park is a great park, with green grassy fields to play on, a sidewalk to walk /run laps, tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball court and on the weekends they have soccer games for the kids. There is a pavillion with some picnic tables and a nice playground for the kids. There are bathrooms in the pavillion also.

Baseball field seems to be better maintained than the tennis courts. Mind you I had only run around the perimeter of the field, not had actually played baseball.The two open tennis hard courts are very well lighted, and the park is open till 11p. There is no problem in seeing the ball. Neither does one get blinded by the lights. Problem with the courts is the various cracks. The two courts are equally worse in different places. Courts could not be resurfaced any sooner.A chain link fence surrounds the court area. It is high enough to rarely have to chase the balls. There is also a half-wall to practice against.

Nice place to walk for exercise. Across the street from Kea'au Shopping Center. Has basketball courts, a kids' playground. Many teams play soccer in the open fields.

My dogs absolutely LOVE this park. "No animals allowed..." but it's a dog friendly park as long as your dogs are well behaved.

If you're from out of town it's a perfect stop on the drive from Kona to the volcano. Kids can get out and stretch their legs, public restrooms, and shade.

Shipman Park is an industrial area and they have everything from lumber supplies and if you're building a house pre-built trusses to Caterpillar heavy machinery sales and service there is drilling & Coring specialist and lots of other businesses that you'd expect in an industrial area
