My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We stayed in the ocean front deluxe suite and wow, it was amazing. The room/living area/bathroom were so spacious. Bed was comfy. There are 2 ac units in the room I believe and it stays very cool, really nice to come back to (especially if you aren’t use to humidity like us) We watched the sunset and listened to live music every night on the patio area. All of the staff were so kind & friendly!

This is a very nice hotel in central Molokai. It has very good water views, nice pool, cozy bar and restaurant. Staff is super friendly and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The comment about the water in a previous review about it being brown is because of how shallow it is at low tide and that is the sand. Spent two nights here and very happy with the choice. The WiFi works pretty well for those who need to be connected since cell coverage on the island is pretty spotty.Rooms: Clean and well maintained.Food & drinks: Bar and restaurant in the hotel.

We went there for dinner. We were seated right away and didn't have reservations. They had good live entertainment with mellow local music perfect for dinner. The venue is near the beach but the water looked dirty. Service was excellent and the poke was fresh and with great taste. I ordered the ribeye M/R but got it medium well. A little over cooked. They place got very busy after 7:30 and only 2 tables were left. This was my first trip to Molokai.

Hotel Molokai is an absolute joke. Most of the reviews here are probably fake and done by locals. Here’s some of the facts of my stay:1. The lead receptionist at the front desk will have a terrible attitude upon your arrival as well as for your entire stay. She will treat you like a tourist, and if I had to guess, is probably racist (against Caucasian people) as a handful of Hawaiians are (especially a handful on the island of Molokai). Some seem to think that because I am white I had something to do with the overthrow of their kingdom before I was born. This same receptionist has a job in service sector. If you’re reading this, do yourself a favor, don’t work as a hotel receptionist if you’re going to treat tourists as outsiders and have a bad attitude.2. The rooms are not even close to as nice as the absurd price they are charging. Some of them are not air conditioned, there’s bugs and roaches in the rooms, there’s no black out curtains, and the rooms are extremely small. Some of our rooms had lofts where you could not even stand in your bedroom.3. A lot of their ocean front rooms are on the second floor. That is not ocean front. The ocean view from this hotel is a dirty brown at all times. Literally 24/7.4. The manager is never available. Good luck getting in touch with him. I asked for a late check out 2 FULL days before we were supposed to check out (asked for a simple 12PM instead of 10AM). The “manager” calls me at 09:15AM on check-out day and says no citing “operations”. I finally got in touch with him at check out and frankly he basically could care less about his guests (catering to his cleaning staff over his guests). He will do whatever he can to take your money and then do whatever to get you out of the rooms as soon as possible. He had his staff start to call my room at 10:15AM on the day of check out to get us pushed out the door on a Sunday (when he admitted there was no occupancy in the rooms for Monday). This is after leasing 3 rooms from him, paying him over $5000, dining in his restaurant 3 times with 9 people (with average food at best), and staying for 5 nights.5. Every morning at 5AM, the sun will blare in your room from the east and if that doesn’t wake up early, the hundreds of ROOSTERS on the property will be sure to wake you up.Beware: Unfortunately, Molokai has very few hotel options so Hotel Molokai basically has a monopoly on the island and they take full advantage of it.Bottom Line: They want your money. They know they are the only act in town. Once they get your money, you’ll feel like you were ripped off and in a rotating door. They talk down to you. Don’t stay here.

Overall: A unique hotel near town with great staff and thoughtful accommodations/amenities.So originally, we accidentally rented a room on the same lot as Hotel Moloka’i, but under different owners through Vacasa. Do not do this to save money, just go through this hotel. It is worth every penny. We went to the front to ask just kind of what to do since the other room was bad, and the staff were super accommodating even though it wasn’t their fault, and it made our stay a million times better.On-site there is a small shop, a rental shop for all kinds of beach goodies such as snorkels and paddle boards, a restaurant that often has live music, as well as a washer/dryer for a couple of quarters. The vending machine has detergent/dryer sheets for $3. Don’t overpack, just do laundry and you’re set.Rooms: The rooms were nice. We could see the ocean from our balcony which is always a plus. We had a kitchenette which was stocked with utensils and such. The bathroom was clean and we got small containers of soap. The bed is comfy, and the room we got was pretty spacious. It was a nice room.Nearby activities: Head into town and give some of the local businesses a visit. Pacific Eatery is a new place and of course everyone there is cool. There’s live music sometimes and the food is fresh. You can head to the wharf for some calm waters to swim or fish in.Wherever you do go, please drive the speed limit and watch out for deer. Just be respectful.Safety: I felt safe the entire time, and there’s a security guard.Walkability: The property itself is very walkable, it’s like a small villa so you can walk to every amenity easily. It’s also got nice landscaping which to me counts towards walkability.Food & drinks: So as far as I know, rooms with kitchenettes of course get some coffee packets and dishes to cook with. There is also Hiro’s next to the pool open most days. The staff are cool and the food is delicious. Definitely go there and try the Kalbi short ribs.

A great place to stay on Molokai! Central location just outside of town that was a perfect base to explore the island. Super friendly and helpful staff (the friendly isle!), clean rooms, nice pool with plenty of lounge chairs. There is a great bar and restaurant with live music every night. They only serve lunch and dinner but there is a small fridge and microwave in the rooms and a coffee maker too if you want to eat breakfast on your own patio. The rooms have AC and a nice patio to sit outside. Decent WiFi available across the property. We would certainly stay again!Nearby activities: Very central on the island. Maybe an hour to the east end of the island and maybe 30 min to the west end beaches. 5 min drive to town and the grocery stores and restaurants.Food & drinks: Great bar - friendly and good drinks at reasonable prices. Great restaurant with super views right on the water. Nice range of meals and the daily specials were always excellent.

I am so sad to be leaving Moloka'i. The weather and people were wonderful. If you are looking for an authentic Hawaiian vacation away from the hustle and bustle this is the place to come. Our suite bedroom on the second floor had no A/C but the breeze blowing throw the screens was amazing. It almost was a little chilly at night. Yes, the rooster will make his rounds in the morning around 5. That's what gives this place charm. Please take time to lay in a hammock. Enjoy the beach. Be brave and take the bus! Everyone is very helpful with it and you get to meet so many people. Take a whale watching tour with Fish and Dive.

Honestly cannot say enough good things about this hotel! The staff was so amazing and helpful. That alone is worth the stay! The beds were really comfortable, and the property is lovely, with hammocks all over to relax in. A little gift shop sells snacks on property, as well as a tour organizer to help book things on the island (which is very helpful).

This was exactly what I hoped for; completely different from Maui. Molokai is small, quiet, friendly & relaxing. The hotel matches the rest of the island and was comfortable and clean. I get a kick out of some of the reviews about the chickens- if these folks had been to Hawaii before, they'd realize that chickens are everywhere and not under the hotel's control--similar to geese, ducks & squirrels in the mainland.

Great little hotel with fantastic service, immaculate grounds, and nice little pool. The views are spectacular across the channel toward Lana'i. Adjacent Ohana restaurant has great food too. Come here if you want to really get away from it all and see the rural Hawai'i. We loved how all Moloka'i business locally-owned, and the feeling of community everyone has on the island.On-property car rental was convenient, and they offer a free airport shuttle if you rent for 3 days or more. The rooms were clean, but in need of updating. Bed and pillows were comfortable, with nice linens and towels. We highly recommned the "oceanfront"units - worth the price.

Had the awesome experience of staying on Molokai for the week and stayed at this location. There isn't much to choose from on this island and it's more than fine. Staff was pleasant and the grounds were well kept and clean. Rooms and units were unique and suited us just fine. The bathroom could a used a little TLC but hey it got it done and we were fine with it. They have a restaurant/bar right at the location and it gets quite busy and was a fun environment. Laundry on site as well as a little gift shop for some urgent needs. Have absolutely no problem staying here again when I return to Molokai, which I intend to do, it's a very chill peaceful island. Mahalo nui loa to everyone there!

After crazy Waikiki I loved it here. The hotel is a bit dated especially for the price. Room was a bit small. Reminded me of the basement apt I lived in when I was in university. However that was made up for by the chill vibe of the resort. Spent two days just swinging in a hammock. Decent pool area. Quiet and no screaming kids. Beautiful sunsets and sun rises. No breakfast at all except sundays. I actually enjoyed the chickens and cats everywhere. Evening entertainment was fun. The island is beautiful but you will need a car. the hotel wasn’t very helpful in that regard but mike at Izzies set me up no problem. The hotel did give me a ride to the airport when the shuttle I booked with outdoor adventures at the lobby never showed up to take me to the airport.

I am taking away one star from service because they broke our bag's wheel while escorting us to the room. We discovered it as soon as they left and had to arrange a temporary bag on this remote island. Rest assured, it was a good stay overall. The bathrooms were unclean with hair strands on the shower curtain. Good silent ocean views.

Not a bad hotel, probably the best hotel on the island, but for what you're paying, I was expecting something a little better. Amazing location and great vibes on the island. The restaurant at the hotel is amazing, but the rooms were pretty average at best. Very old, my room had ants, just needs a little TLC to make the experience better.

The property was centrally located and well kept. We explored all over the island and we appreciated being central for this reason. We did the Oceanfront Deluxe Suite and the view was really nice. I also appreciated the private lanai. My husband and I ate dinner at Hiros most nights. Really nice food and convenient. The chef, Woody, was extremely nice and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and will return again!

I’m staying here during my relocation to the island and it hasn’t been a great experience. The internet is basically unusable and my room doesn’t have a kitchen which means I have to eat out most of the time. The pool is nice and the restaurant is good when it is open. If you are only planning on staying a short time for a vacation it will be fine. If you are staying for work or relocation, you aren’t going to like it.Edit: changing my review. There are kitchens available in some of the rooms, my employer decided I didn't need one. If you want a kitchen be sure to ask for a room with one. The hotel staff have been very nice in trying to help me with my internet issues.

This is a great location with our room right on the water. Can lie in bed and watch the ocean. We slept.like babies in our king bed. Also a nice little patio outside our room with a table where local chickens come by to greet you. This is pretty much the only real hotel on the island, about a mile and a half out of the main town of Kaunakakai. Walkable if you don’t have a car. The restaurant is very good with a range of selections including a different fish special every night. There is also live music every night with dinner. All in all a very nice, comfortable, laid back experience.

Our family of 5 stayed in the ocean front rooms in February 2021. The rooms had great views of the flats and the ocean outside the reef. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The AC worked well when needed. Most nights were cool enough to leave the windows open and enjoy the sounds of the waves gently lapping the shoreline. The hotel staff were very friendly as was every person we encountered on the island. Having the restaurant within the complex made going to dinner easy with our 10 week old grandson. Live music was played every night and the talent the restaurant brings in was phenomenal. We have stayed on every island in the Hawaiian chain and truly enjoyed Molokai. We had such a good time, we are planning on making this an annual trip.

This place is nice. The room we stayed in wasn't renovated, but nice for a remote island. Best part was we had a kitchenette, Air conditioning, a very large comfortable bed, a large beautiful patio with a view, a good restaurant, a pool, and my favorite part was the hammocks by the ocean. The staff took good care of us after our other hotel on the island of Molokai had problems with our reservation.Gordon with the tour agency located there was nice and gave us a ride to the airport.Overall, good times were had! Thanks, hotel Molokai.

Lovely, older A-Frame style units in a plantation characteristic style. Very clean units and grounds are perfectly manicured. While there was no visible beach, you are right on the water with a wonderful view of Lanai’. You can listen to live music while enjoying the waterfront bar and restaurant.

This place was wonderful. The staff were so friendly. Our room was clean and updated with a bit of vintage flare. Its right on the water with hammocks scattered throughout the grounds and along the beach. There are chickens free ranging and friendly throughout which is fun to see, but the grounds are kept up nice and tidy, not chicken poo stink around. It was perfect and a wonderful taste of the island.

Updated review as they don’t have proper sized curtains so there is a six inch strip not cue red and their outdoor bright lights makes it impossible to sleep.Cute place but small kine sewer smell comes in room. Not sure I’d stay again due to that. Had to keep all windows closed but luckily has solid ac. No daily housekeeping either.

The room given to us was desperately in need of maintenance and serious cleaning. The AC unit was very loud. We asked to be transferred to another room but we were told that the hotel was full. A simple Internet search demonstrated that the hotel staff was lying. We stayed there for 5 nights and our room was never cleaned. The kicker was that we were also charged a $25 fee for late checkout...The terrible hotel did not affect our very enjoyable trip to Molokai. Travelers should consider the Sheraton nearby.
