It's great that central Molokai has more than one grocery store, but having been to both Friendly and Misaki's, I won't be going back to Friendly unless I'm desperate to find something. Friendly is way too crowded even when there aren't many people shopping. The aisles are too narrow and the lighting is poor. The place is claustrophobic. Misaki's, on the other hand, has wide aisles, excellent lighting, and clearly priced items. It's easy to find items on sale at Misaki's.

They have more products to choose from then any of the other stores on the island. They have a butcher in the back so you can order large portions of meat when needed. I love that the staff are fast and friendly. It's cool and I love that, especially during the hottest summer days. Its clean and I love that the staff there works diligently to organize the products so the products are easy to locate.

Well stocked, except the day before barge day (Thursday). Stay away on first days of SNAP it's crowded. Cashiers could smile and make an effort to be friendlier. They're efficient, but look like every minute is a bad minute. Do they enjoy working there?

Staff here is quite helpful. There is a wide selection of grocery items, though if you want fresh fruits and veges you would do better to go to the Saturday Farmers Market. This market has some good choices for Poke and Seaweed Salad. A good store for basic necessities like toilet paper etc. The liquor part has some good wines though if you want a wider choice for beers and wines you best go across the street to Molokai Wines and Spirits.

We couldn't both go in because of the posted rules, only one shopper per household. Their store, we'll respect their decisions and Covid cautions. I'll go in next time, if needed. I think you can sense a community by their stores. This is a quiet town and it will take some time for the New Englander to slow down and really sense the vibe. Still amazing weather though!

Options can be limited on a small island. I've been able to get what I need, but you have to have to be flexible.

The market has a lot of grocery items for a remote location in a small town. I appreciated the selection and being able to buy food for my children while I was visiting. We encountered a decent amount of resentment, negativity, and just all around annoyance at us shopping there. We used a cart because we were buying a lot of vegetables and other food for the five days we were visiting. One person said to us on the grocery isle “why are you standing here with this big cart?” I just apologized profusely and moved my cart where I felt I wouldn’t annoy anyone else. The clerk who checked me out wasn’t happy. Maybe she just was having a bad day. She rolled her eyes at me when she gave me the receipt. I smiled at her and thanked her and my whole interaction with her was quiet, respectful, and submissive. I really tried to not annoy her, but she knew I wasnt local and that seemed to annoy her. We are all people on this earth trying to get through life with some shred of joy. That market made me feel like I was a terrible human, daring to walk into a little market to buy some food from a local business. That’s a good thing in my book, to patronize at a local business, because I would think the more you sell, , the more profit you make. Anyway, I got the message at that store and on the island in general. I am no expert on Hawaii or Molokai but I have read a lot about aloha and ohana. And I know what it is and what it feels like. I’m sure there is aloha in that store for some people but not for people like me. And that’s ok - i’m a big girl. But the store should know that having a hard heart is not good for their own well-being. It just brings one’s energy down.

They don't have it, you ain't gonna get it. Aloha is included in every purchase. Great place to shop just there today. still awesome! Crowded the beginning of every month.

Another of Molokai's Mini Supermarket.... known previous owners since my childhood time. Now having new owners is just as the same... filled with ALOHA, filled with compassion ❤ outstanding service whenever you need it. Walking out from the checkout counter is your not your last farewell because you will find something at home just to go back to Friendly Market to purchase something you need because you feel a little empty at home. Its like hospitality, the feeling is awesome. ☝🏼🙏

They hold up to there name! Friendly, and exceptional customer service. If they don't have something you were looking for they find something similar or you can show them and they might be able to order it. Meats are fresh and so is the raw fish items. Best to shop after 1pm on Monday's and Thursday's as fresh freight (times may change due to new barge deliveries) is being bought out. Kupuna (elderly) hours are Tuesday's and Thursday's from 8am-9am after that its open to the public. Any questions you may have someone is sitting at the top by the wagons for better specific service needs. Parking maybe tight but you have the option of the front parking (front of the store) or the big lot on the side of there parking lot. The store is clean and they always are very respectful even in these difficult times. Love shopping there for all my household needs. Please be mindful during these precedent times of your surroundings and always wear your mask!!

If you're looking for a wide variety of groceries, you won't find that really anywhere on Molokai.Friendly Market Center had at least one item of almost everything that was on our list, but there isn't a ton of variety. For example, there is one ketchup available. I'm sure that their selection rotates based upon supplies brought to the island. This market is also fairly crowded/cramped and it's difficult to go up and down the aisles with a shopping cart. I often left it at the end of the aisle and went and grabbed what I needed and took it back to the cart. If you want fresh produce, they have a small selection of basics. I'm not sure how fresh the produce is because two days after purchasing avocados, they were completely brown. If you need basics, this market will do the trick but don't go in being picky about what products you want.

Staff seem overly stressed out, shouting at everyone - kanaka, kama’āina (me) and visitors, despite COVID restrictions being lifted. Had to sanitize 3 times just to get inside, clearly need to do it in front of everyone. Masks are then optional 🤷♂️ Totally stressful experience - feels like you’re in trouble at school, waiting in line to see the principal.Other stores are fine with you bringing your own bag - but friendly following DOH guidance from a year ago and don’t allow. Makes little sense as now more people are touching my things.

The employees are very friendly and are quick to answer my questions. Someone is readily available to take my cart when I am through with it. It's great to always be greeted with a smile. Thank you Friendly Market.

Had everything we needed including a 8 pack of votive candles for $4 . It really is nice to have candle light, so every bit of the beautiful scenes from the lanai can be taken in without distraction.

This place is great! It has everything you need and some stuff you would never expect at such a small store. Don't expect to find a certain brand, but that's the appeal. When in town this is the go to place for all the staples.

One of the two big down town markets . Great place for picking up food for your stay.Different perspective on big on molikai, this becomes big with what else is available. Heck of selection, if they don't have it, you can't get it.

Did you know that you can call the store and place an order with the meat department. They prefer a 24 hour notification but if you call early enough in the morning and the meat is in stock they'll work with you. They will also let you know if they must place an order for meat and then call you when order arrives.

I had the weirdest bad time all across the US today in this place. I took a picture of the head of a deer near the beer (posted) and suddenly a girl says that I was taking pictures of costumers and kids, very aggressive, yelling. Not happy with the fact that I gave my phone to them, show every picture, scared of they freak attitude, I was kicked off.Im a tourist taking a stupid picture, but the paranoia was absolutely out of line. Not happy with the fact that I was out, they asked me to go out of town 🤷🏻♂️.What the hell.I fell absolutely discriminated and treated like hell.Well. This “supernice market” “friendly” just didn’t understand a latin guy taking a picture of they’re strange deer head.Im pest off, they kind of make my pass trough Molokai a very unpleasant memory.
