Your staff is so aware of the customers in the store. They have helped me find items without my having to ask. Always a smile at cash counter and l did not have to ask for help bringing my purchases to the car. The young man was already there! Thank you. We just moved to Hawi this year and are happy to have your store nearby!

Just stopped by this market to buy some food. Seemed like a well stocked market for a small town. The girl at the checkout was a little salty but maybe she was having a bad day.

It’s your local “go to” market here in Kapaau.. When I come to Hawaii , I do all the cooking for my son and his family. Most of the meats we purchase at COSCO. But when I just need some little items , I look forward to see one cashier. She is the sweetest person I know. Her Aloha is so real. I walk out of that market with a smile and a blessed

I’m not sure how locals can afford to shop here. Prices are really absorbent, you would think with prices being so high they would at least be able to do regular maintenance on their store. And the banzai card is joke. You spend 150 dollars to get a 1.50 off. At least pay it forward Takata. I done shopping here!

Good variety of items to satisfy all kinds of tastes. I must add, however, that the prices are quite high.Some staples such as milk are almost twice the price paid just over the mountain in Waimea and in Waikoloa. Locals need more affordable groceries during times like this when inflation is high.

Selection is limited when it comes to meat/produce, but I suppose that’s to be expected w/ a small mom & pop market. Prices are high (also to be expected, this is after all, Hawaii); the checkers are “hit or miss” - sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Biggest gripe is that over 2 1/2 years into COVID, they’re still forcing masks on their customers, which likely won’t stop anytime soon. For that reason alone, I’m hoping a competitor comes along who isn’t a control freak and gives ‘em a little competition.

Considering it is close to the literal "end of the road," there is a great selection and stock. The prices are competitive with town. They are very friendly, giving us utensils and napkins to go with our picnic lunch items.

I would give it 5 stars because I like this store! But the 2 cashiers today need to learn to smile and be nice to customers! Maybe it was a bad day for them but geez! Made me feel grouchy when I came out of there!

Takata Store is the best place in North Kohala to get groceries. Conveniently located between Hawi and Kapa'au it carries almost everything you need. The prices are high here so be warned. Without much else around as far as grocery stores this is the place to go.

Store owner treated me like a scrub. Talked down on me, threatened to call the Police. I was waiting for my ride. No where else to shop and and I'm sure Food-Land and other chains would treat me no different. Times are changing and American Capitalist attitudes are taking over.
