This place does amazing work! They are the only wildlife hospital on island, which means they are responsible for rescuing and rehabilitating a large number of native birds, many of which are endangered species. The staff are all so dedicated and kind. So glad they're here to save the birds!

Such sweet people! We got there during their lunch break but came into the visitor shop when they returned. I am going into vetmed and have an interest in wildlife with a focus on tropical birds and biodiversity. They talked with me about internship opportunities there and the diversity of the birds and bats they rescue. Very cool and any money spent in the shop goes to the only wildlife bird rescue facility in the entire state of Hawai'i. Very great outdoor visitor center with a log of intakes and interactive TV. It had details on their rehabilitation of avian wildlife they take in. Overall great visit and worth the drive from Kona.

I make sure to visit every trip to the Big Island. I love hearing the stories of rehabilitation and return to the wild.

It was a gift shop and a few pictures on a wall outside. I am sure it does great work it's just not worth the visit.
