I absolutely love this place. Have been here about six times over 15 years and always fantastic food, and great service. Most recently I brought three friends here and they were all in Cuisine heaven with the flavors and presentation. I made a point to send compliments to the kitchen staff. Don't be fooled by the word Cafe this is a great restaurant and my pictures don't do anything to portray the flavors!

Understandable why Kalaheo Cafe has lineups in the morning and the place is jammed. Even with the line it took perhaps 10 minutes to grab a table and receive our orders. They have excellent coffee and baked goods and the breakfast options are legion. Corned beef is hearty but the star was the corn bread; soft, fluffy and wonderfully buttery. Vibe is relaxed and I loved the art they were rocking on the wall, nice that the dining room is largely open to the air. Definitely a place to visit when on the island.

I never thought I’d ever experience a steak better than I’ve had before, but Chef John Tanner took me to the moon with an amazing, extremely tender and tasty steak that blew my mind. I absolutely love sauces, which apparently he continually changes with time, but tonight’s was a creamy, spinach-bacon creation made me almost faint with delight! The portion was quite satisfying, as well! I started out with the duo-taco appetizer with a seared catch of the day (Ahi) —> WOW! This place rocks! I’m coming back a few more times before leave! Carolyn was tonight’s server and she has a gem of a personality! Great visit! Good value! 5+ stars from me!

Such soft oooey gooey goodness! Super pastries to start the day. We do take out and enjoy on our lanai with coffee. We also call this place for takeout sandwiches that are perfect for toting to the beach.Dietary restrictions: I saw some gluten free muffins in the pastry case.

Great hole in the wall restaurant and coffee company. This place was busy and serving breakfast and special coffees until 11:30AM. We tried the eggs Benny and loco moco which were both pretty good. Simply order and then find your table as it’s prohibited to get a table before you order! Check it out for a hot breakfast spot on the island and make sure you order a cafe mocha!

What a fantastic local spot. Busy and now I know why. We got here at 7a for breakfast when it opened and weren't even the first in line. Great food, really nice assortment of in house bakery items. Our cinnamon roll and scone were amazing. Good coffee too. Quick and friendly service. Indoor and outdoor dining, even saw a rainbow from the outdoor seating area; perfect, little local spot. What a fantastic find this AM!

Seemingly casual walk-up menu is one of the best meals I’ve had on the island. I ordered loco moco with corn muffin and a green smoothie; the gravy was incredible with flavorful mushrooms and perfectly cooked brown rice. My mom ordered avocado toast and my dad had eggs with bacon and a coffee. All simple yet amazing flavors! Thank you Kalaheo!

I've only been here for breakfast so far, but the food is great. Its fresh, well prepared, and they have some interesting tweaks on common recipes. It's a small location, and parking is very limited, so expect a small wait and plan accordingly!

A must try for breakfast if you are on the island! The French toast special was possibly the best I’ve ever had. Split that with the avocado toast. Avocado was perfectly ripe and the seasoning is delicious. We came twice - the first day the bread slices for the toast were smaller and just right for me. The second day my slices must have been from the middle of the loaf, because the avocado toast portion was massive and I couldn’t finish it all. I got an iced latte that wasn’t really great and then came back for a hot latte that was much better. It seems crowded when you get there but people are good about clearing out quickly and we didn’t have an issue getting a table. You may need to park up the road and walk down if the lot is full. Make sure to get a piece of coconut cake! It’s melt in your mouth good.

Wonderful place to go for breakfast. They ask you to order first, then find a table. They are full, but by the time you order and pay, there is usually a table being cleaned off. Being courtesy by not hogging the table makes things flow so much better. The staff are very courtesy.Breakfast was so good. I got the Salmon Benny.

This used to be a must each year when we came to Kauai, we started a vacation with our first breakfast at the Kalaheo Cafe. We have been coming to Kauai for the better part of 20 years. We have been increasingly disappointed. The food, a plate of brown rice, cold toast and a burrito. No presentation, no fruit lots of filler, and honestly no flavour. When I tried to get a server’s attention to ask for warm toast I was ignored. When I went to the counter to ask for warm toast I was treated indignantly, almost bullied and made to feel ashamed that I even asked. We never received a smile from anyone, we were only greeted as a matter of move along. I come from a tourist town too I get it, it can be daunting. But we are people, living and breathing - tourist isn’t just a word. Customer isn’t just a word with a $ attached. It was uncomfortable and unwelcoming start to our holiday. The restaurant wasn’t full, lots of empty tables which in past years you wouldn’t see perhaps we aren’t alone in our experience. I rarely write reviews, especially negative but this encounter left us disappointed and reconsidering our holiday plans going forward. I hope this review helps your business.

We found this place by accident. Looking for a place for breakfast and saw all the cars and traffic and had to stop. The place was so quaint and inviting. While waiting in line to order, I glanced at the bakery case which looked awesome and busy. What got my attention were the " knuckles", which were wonderful fresh pastries and no one can say no to. The owner saw I was looking and took our dine in order. Food was delicious, place was filled with local art work, and everyone seemed nice and helpful. Locals and tourists alike were enjoying the wonderful ambiance. Truly unforgettable and definitely a place to visit. Get there early for first crack at the knuckles!Parking: Plenty of parki

Kalaheo Cafe has the best breakfast on the island! Their cinnamon french toast is absolutely incredible, as is their breakfast burrito! I went with my family and we were all impressed! We also went for dinner and their French Dip and Cubano are to die for! We were so impressed with both the breakfast and dinner we are there! I'd highly, highly recommend going!

This place is spot on! There’s a reason the parking lot is always packed - the food is exceptional. I’ve been here too many times to count over the years. Most recently I went with my husband to dinner here. We came right when they opened at 5pm. A perfect time for us because it’s not crowded the. We enjoyed the fish tostada sampler & the shrimp sampler. Delicious! Then enjoyed the Cuban sandwich (amazing!!) & the BLT Salad for dinner. Our service was perfect. I can’t wait to go back and treat myself again soon!

cafe tucked away close to Waimea state park, this place is BUSY! we came here on a Sunday at 10AM (it was also Mother’s Day) and found the last parking spot available in their parking lot. Also happens to get there right before a line to order but there were quite a few people waiting for tables. You order at the counter first, grab a number, then wait for a table to open up. We actually waited like over 30 minutes for table and food so it took longer than I would have liked. We ordered their special for the day which was the egg scramble with smoked salmon, veggies, havarti cheese, a side and banana bread. The portion size was a little small for $19, I definitely would have liked more hash browns than the small flat sliver we got. The food took a very long time and I was pretty annoyed after I got it AND the portions were small. It’s a nice brunch spot to come with family but don’t come here expecting to leave quickly and full.

Great food! Got there at 1:00. Donuts were gone, but good cakes and cookies. Had the Pol gourmet grilled cheese. I had mine with a salad, hubby had onion rings. Both delish. They forgot our latte’s. The spinach salad someone was eating looked fantastic-normally what I would eat, but I had to try the gourmet grilled cheese w/pork on rye. Very good! For dessert, chocolate chip cookie with coconut cream cake. Yum.Indoor and outdoor seating. Totally casual. Order any the counter and they bring your food to You. Wine and beer for sure, didn’t pay attention for other alcohol. No dogs allowed. Would love to get a pastry if they had them.

Baked goods and breakfast galore! We had a huge cinnamon bun, breakfast sandwich, latte and iced coffee. All the baked goods looked delicious. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.Parking: The lot is a good size, but it can be a challenge to get in and out of if traffic is heavy on the main road.
