This is the best Safeway and, arguably, the best grocery store on the island. The store is bright, modern, and spacious. There's a great area for produce and deli, complete with a lot of food counters. The selection is excellent with a vast array of food and household staples plus a good assortment of international products, including areas for Asian and Hispanic items. Prices are reasonable (for Hawaii), especially if you're a member of Safeway's "For U" rewards program (it's free to join). As an added bonus, the store is on the approach path to Kahului Airport so you can often see planes flying low from the parking lot!

Good pharmacy. Good selection of products. The bathroom could use the changing table and papertowel dispenser replaced. Large parking lot and gas station.

Don't get taken advantage of like I did!Expecting to get a few reasonably priced groceries/provisions after flying into OGG and before going on a camping trip down the road to Hana, I thought I should go to this big box store.BIG MISTAKE!e.g.Kettle Chips 13 oz. bag (see pics)Safeway $8.99Mana Foods $4.7990% more than a small grocery store down the road!Do yourself and the community a favor and shop locally. I especially recommend Mana Foods in Paia, just 5.6 miles down the road from this establishment.

Excellent Safeway! Everything is well laid out and the selection is great. The only gripe I have is that the floors look quite cheap.

Used the curbside pick-up. Very easy service and well worth it! Shopper will contact you as they are shopping to verify substitutions are needed. I've had very good experiences with this service and the employee that brings the groceries out is always very polite and nice.

Men's restroom always in complete shambles, first the door handle was loose, then it was broken and they "screwed" it in, now there's no door handle at all, soap only there half the time, towels there less than that. Shopping floor always a mess honestly.. I thought this was supposed to be the "newer" safeway?

This is probably the coldest Safeway on the island & I absolutely love it. They’re ac works so well, I actually wouldn’t be surprised if I ever saw any ice sculptures on display. (Which if you ever do, please let me know I’d love to snap a few pics.) But seriously shopping here is like my affordable escape. I can bundle up like I’m going somewhere cold without forking out an expensive plane ticket to do so.You might find it strange, but yes I’m a shopaholic & I do love shopping here. Being able to walk up & down the aisles is seriously my favorite form of exercise. I get to burn a few calories while looking for more to take home. It’s also one of my favorite things to do on a date night. Browsing for sweet treats, picking out a fun new wine to try. Plus just on the lookout for some fresh ingredients. To me it’s always exciting to pick up some fresh, healthy & delicious ingredients.Plus another one of my shopping perks is the Starbucks in the corner. Not only am I in my shopping element but having what I call my crack, a matcha frappe. Is the quickest way to make me smile. Also for some reason that taste of fresh cut grass in the form of tea is actually surprisingly tasty. I’d recommend trying it a few times, before giving up hope on it because it really does grow on you.P.S. There’s a cashier that deserves some kudos. So I just wanted to give her a shout out for your excellent customer service. You were friendly & good at your job. You made waiting in line quick & pleasant.Xoxo,ChelsieFletcher

I went too safeway hookele too pickup my prescription and grab a gift card for my neice for her late Christmas gift and other items and I wanted too purchase that 1 gift card at the self checkout and the girl there called me aunty and I was very upset with her calling me that and I asked her why I cannot purchase this 1 gift card and there were a sticker on there saying no giftcards allowed. Maui Lani Safeway does it all the time and hookele couldn’t? I told her she could do it there but she said she didn’t want too do it. What poor customer service…the lines was long so I had too go and wait in a long line just too purchase a $25 gift card and 1 item along with it…I was so pist…unbelievable that store…the lady at the self checkout was no help at all.No wonder they always have long lines because the self checkout girls keep sending them too the front when they should be helping the cashiers out when it’s busy in the front..I’m glad I don’t work at Hookele Safeway with the non customer service workers

Poke. Heaven. 🤤🤤🤤 Always the first stop once we land in Maui. They have so many different kinds of poke that it is so difficult to pick which one. Really sux that I can't try them all. Getting groceries for our stay is really just second to the goal of getting poke - be a member for sure as member pricing is WAY better for a lot of stuff.

This place has some of the best meats ever. Still cut filet mignon to whatever thickness you want they always have been on Deck and it's always delicious. Their fish is really fresh to as well. If I were you I would definitely shop here for your meats it's amazing and the staff is very helpful and friendly. But you can use your EBT at the Starbucks here. Oh wait that's the Maui Lani Safeway excuse me. Anyway I hope you take your time to enjoy this place it's amazing.

Just like the other Safeway in Ka'anapali, this store also has terrific staff! But they also ran out or altogether didn't carry certain things we were looking for. The breakfast egg sandwich from the deli is very good (though I might've just been hungry at the time). The Starbucks inside the store is also excellent!

Maddy in the Kahului Safeway Bakery has a great personality and goes out of her way to get me the items I need spur of the moment. She has had a number of things made while I'm there and she's just as nice as she can be. Thank You Maddy!

I LOVE this store!! The manager and staff went out of their way to help me and my extended family with a Special Olympics fundraiser meeting place, making reduced cost breakfast burritos, providing free waters and gatorades and a roped off area for our gathering.I LOVE that this is the only grocery store, or any store, that I know of, that is open and available 24 hours. In our service to the visitors, some of us work throughout the night. What a comfort to be able to get food, pet supplies, fresh veggies, etc., when we are on our way in to, or just finishing our long shifts of service.My experience today with the sweet cashier, Irish, was an A++. I was able to find some discounted items and she efficiently and patiently processed my purchases and exuded Aloha and a top level of customer service!Yep, it's cold in this, and most Safeways. A bird sometimes gets in. Specials and sale items are the norm. The floors are clean. No flies or disheveled stock.I LOVE this store!

Nice clean well stocked store. Lowest price on gas, you may have to wait in line(20 minutes tops). Airport only 5 minutes away. Make this your stop as you get to Maui and last stop as you leave. Do not think you will be disappointed.

My absolute favorite grocery store in town! Has the best of everything (i.e.- bakery sweets n treats, sushi, poke, 50% off clearance items in the clearance section ranging from grocery/bakery food items to non food items, local and non-locsl food/products, etc..). Very convenient and the customer service is great. My favorite employee works the graveyard shift and is a woman named Nadine. She is so personable and unbelievably helpful! I enjoy how she is always in a good mood too. I love the food here and I appreciate the hospitality!🤗

Clean and spacious. Has the best bathrooms in kahului if you need to go and can't find a toilet. Also has a Starbucks inside If you are into that. Not many organic options but they have some. Great selection and decent prices. Also their gas station ⛽ is the cheapest on island save for Costco. Has ethanol free gas ❤️

This a nice store with reasonable prices. We love the sour dough bread for $3. The flower department has a great selection of leis. The store is always very cold.
