Came here during our honeymoon vacation. Very down to earth people. A great representation of the hawaiian people. We ended up coming back after trying their homemade pinaple pie. The second time around, we tried their teriyaki chicken along with their banana bread. All of the food was AMAZING!!! After he knew we had been recently married, he even played a song for us! Will be coming back on our 1 year anniversary!

Wow! This is a hidden gem of deliciousness! The owner was fantastic! We laughed a lot with him.We had the hungry man plate. Everything was delicious! He also makes his own banana bread and the portion size is huge!!Go check this spot out!

The best BBQ in town! Just follow the smoke and the smell, it Leads you to Kalena! The less impressive the food stand is, the better the food is. And we had an awesome talk with the owner, I really appreciated it! An Teri plate for 13$ is cheap btw!

Super friendly and they have good pork and chicken. Found on Google while driving and as I walked through the maze of food carts looking for them, a man cooking at a grill called out asking how I was and if I wanted a sample of what he was making. Starting talking and realized this was the spot I was looking for. More of a tent and table setup, not in a truck/cart. Good eats, recommend supporting them.

The teriyaki chicken was fantastic- tender and flavorful. What’s more, the service was fantastic. Staff is friendly and fun to talk to, they give you a wonderful aloha experience. A great place to go!!Vegetarian options: Banana bread.Parking: Around lunch it was busy but not impossible to find spots.Kid-friendliness: This would be great for kids. Owner is friendly and they have banana bread or rice if you have picky eaters. Also if your kiddos are loud or a little wild or messy that will be no problem.Wheelchair accessibility: It’s a little bumpy, but there’s no stairs or anything, and you can go right up to where they’re at.

Great stop. “Food was excellent” (my husband loved it). He had the Menehune Plate from Kalena’s Hut. BBQ teriyaki chicken, rice, Kalua pork with cabbage, and a brown gravy. The portion was a little on the small side, in my opinion, and cost $13. Very friendly/nice service. They have 2 grills going cooking the meats.Would recommend the stop/detour for the authentic local foods experience.Lots of food trucks in the area, as well as, merchandise for purchase, a central seated eating area, and restroom pavilion.Unfortunately, when we went the espresso & ice cream places weren’t open.

Saw this place was highly rated, went to go check it out as Kalua pork was one of the things my partner and I wanted to check out during our Hawaii stay. We decided to order the Hungry Man's Plate.The place doesn't have a dedicated truck and was a little tricky to find if you are expecting to see one. The whole plate was drenched in sauce, which was fine for the meat, but it ended up making the rest of the plate (bread, cabbage, and rice) mushy/soggy. Considering the Kalua pork is what we were there for, it was really disappointing to see the cabbage to pork ratio. There were about two bites of actual pork and the rest were mouthfuls of soggy cabbage. Besides that, the sausage was hardly grilled and was also quite mushy on the inside. The first few bites are good, but as the sauce soaks in, quality quickly starts to deteriorate.The rice was cooked to our liking and paired well with the sauce. The only good meat from the whole plate was the BBQ chicken. Smoked to perfection and was perfectly tender. The owner was extremely nice and funny.

Everybody loves uncle Isi's bbq! This food truck stop is a must every time I visit Hawaii. Isi makes the best bbq chicken plates and lots of other amazing foods. One of the kind and hard working man here at the north shore. Also he's a great entertainer.

Do not let the setup scare you away. The owners will bait you with a sample of their food, and once you taste it, you’ll find yourself returning and getting one of their meals. There is not much to choose from, but I’m a simple eater, and the less I have to try ti figure out what I want, the happier I am. That is precisely what happened to me today. $15 for a full meal and a drink is not bad. I appreciate the food! Keep at it!

Amazing food and even better service! Not sure how to spell this but - Issitolo was so kind and generous as he made our food and chatted with us.We got the island mix plate, pictured below. The grilled teriyaki chicken was my favorite thing, though the pork with cabbage was tasty too! Great place to try some hawaiian bbq!

Super friendly, amazing food. The char on the chicken was perfect and the kalua pork on point. They ran out of the sweet rolls so he threw some coconut cream on the banana bread. Ono grindz, fam.Not a lot of big signage so look for the metal grill under a tent just to the left of the green hut. Cash/Venmo accepted. I think the people before us paid with a card but it's not their default.
