Do not overlook this place judging by the outside appearance!! The quality in the food is incredible!Pros: Food is reasonably priced and the portions are adequate; fast food service with good eating area.Cons: Get ready for friendly chickens trying to ask for food at your feet.The Garlic Shrimp is a MUST; the heavy seasoning that is infused in the sauce makes the dish what it is. Love the garlic sauce they spread overYour rice as well.The Coconut Shrimp was breaded to perfection and the coconut flavor was pure and delightful; highly recommend this dish!Great place to sit outside under the canopy to avoid any sun or heat with a nice breeze coming through at times from the road next to you.

Famous Kahuku Shrimp is one of our go-to places for shrimp on the North Shore (instead of the overly-hyped Giovanni's). We came for a revisit in late April.One of the things that I really like about this place is that you can also get squid. We ordered the 4pc garlic shrimp and squid. There was plenty of squid and the rice was covered in delicious garlic sauce. If you like garlic squid, make sure you try them out. They do have a covered area to eat at.

I recently tried the hot garlic shrimp at Kahuku Shrimp , and it's undoubtedly one of the best I've had. The spiciness is just right, and the sauce perfectly complements the shrimp, creating a delightful fusion of flavors. Pairing it with a bed of rice enhances the overall experience. I strongly recommend this place for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Omg this was my first garlic shrimp and it was friggin delicious. This place actually exceeded my expections. The sauce is 100%. We also ordered the spicy shrimp and I loved it equally. The spicy sauce has the tiniest hint of Thai peanut flavor in it which makes it such a special combination of flavors. The sauce seeps into the shrimp..so good! Highly recommend trying this place. There were plenty of seats outside. Now I need to try the other 2 famous spots on the north shore to compareUpdate: We tried Giovanni's today and was so disappointed!!! We tried the scampi/garlic and the hot there and BOTH flavors taste a lot better here. The shrimp at Kahuku's is bigger and juicer and the sauce is so much better. In fact, we came back after Giovanni's to have more of Kahuku's 😅

So I just wanted to share my experience with the famous shrimp. First of all, the shrimp is not shelled so you do have to take it out of the shell. But the butter sauce is great. I do prefer my shrimp cooked a little bit longer, but all in all it's a great experience and it's nice to support local businesses. You're not going to be disappointed but the reason for the four stars versus five is there're so many great places here and I haven't tried all of them. We'll definitely come back.

We checked out Kahuku Shrimp Truck based on the recommendations of locals. It didn’t disappoint. Pricing is very reasonable per plate (you’ll spend around $15/person) and the portions are generous. I was impressed with the amount of shrimp they give you. I ordered the garlic shrimp and steak and my wife had the garlic shrimp and hot shrimp. I thought the garlic shrimp was awfully tasty however I wasn’t told the shrimp weren’t shelled so that was a little messy. The steak was okay. There wasn’t much flavor and it was pretty chewy. My wife preferred the hot shrimp to the garlic shrimp. I thought the heat level on the shrimp was medium. The people are friendly and there is ample seating outside (with coverage if it’s raining).

Bonus points for the garlic butter on the rice. 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗽 $𝟭𝟰 was good too. The sauce is lighter and slightly sweet compared to Giovanni's. The shrimp were cooked properly and there was a generous amount of sauce..🔹𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 & 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: (𝟴 🌟) Service was quick and friendly. There were a lot of clean tables around but they were pretty tightly packed..🔹𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁: Recommended. It's a good alternative to our usual Giovanni's. Garlic Shrimp is the best! It has a bed of butter, garlic (plenty) and thinly chopped cabbage! Garlic is cooked well and not overpowering the shrimp, it makes my mouth watery while I am writing this review and wanted to go back again after a few hours :)! They have more options on their menu like steak, mahi and more, (check the menu picture below). Staff are very friendly and their service is fast. Outdoor sitting is available. Public bathroom is also available!

This is the best shrimp in the area. The way it's cooked and slightly butterflied is awesome. Garlic is perfect and the rice combo with the cabbage is yummy. Do yourself a solid and go here instead of Giovanni's. You won't regret it.Parking: Plenty of it. Bank to get cash is in parking lot

Fish was frozen and tasteless. Disintegrated in my mouth. Not sure why anyone would give this place a good rating. Shrimp was okay, but a little odd they fried it with the shells/legs on. Their beef had a boiled texture. Not a fan of boiled meats. Beef was cheap cuts and lots of cartilage. 2 scoops to please the masses and nasty sauce to go with it. Lots of places that offer fresh shrimp and fish, so this is a once and done.

I didn’t eat the rice, and that’s 50% of the plate you’ll get. It had no taste, it was a tricky ball just taking space on the tray. The coconut shrimp looks big !! But when you bite you’ll see !! Surprise!!! Pure bread crumbs and coconut . And you only get 3 The garlic ones you’ll get 4 , you’ll need to peel them and then you en up whit a naked shrimp whit no test . I don’t get it.I wasn’t sure which one to order so I ask. The guy told me I can make it half and half. I said ok. So he charge me 18$ , when bought are 16$ each. What’s the logic here? Remember he offered, I didn’t ask .

Breast shrimps (and mahi mahi)!! Absolutely love it. Especially the spicy shrimp and squid, perfect amount of spicy level. Their mahi mahi was really tasty as well. I was really happy with the meal and finished it without any leftover. Their place got crowded very easily but they have many tables so there was no need to worry about seating. This location was really good. There's a clean public bathrooms nearby

Oh boy. This is one dish you mish go get when in Honolulu. Absolutely delicious. The butter and garlic is the perfect amount to get the burst of flavour in your mouth. The prawns are perfect and the pineapple at the end is a perfect cleanser. A must and all for US$16.

This was a favorite of ours when we lived in Kaneohe. It wasn't uncommon for us to make the journey just for the garlic shrimp.Much to my surprise, the entire place is surrounded by other food trucks. This is fine. But, we weren't going to be distracted by all the hub bub.Still the most amazing garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp. Worth the prices, which for Hawaii, aren't that bad.

Best shrimp meal hands down!I got the number 2 Spicy Shrimp. It's their Garlic Shrimp (number 1) with some very nice heat to it.It literally had me wanting to buy a house across the street just for the access to the food.The heat builds up to a point and just stays right in the heat and savory level.I heard their shrimp is locally farmed/caught...but they do a better job at making the meal come together.We had been to a competitor's spot down the way some...and this place definitely did it better.I tried their number 1 combo also and that was just as good.The heat sticks with you for a good time...but it's one that doesn't bother me any and kept me warm in the AC of the car.They're surrounded by other food joints so there is something for everyone here.
