I love animals, so I love pet stores. This is by far my favorite pet shop on the island. It's clean, well stocked, the staff is helpful and the animals, cages and tanks are clean and well looked after. I feel confident buying my birds and supplies from here.

I purchased a baby rabbit here 20 days ago and it is still healthy and lively. I believe they feed the animals well. It's a small place but it has a lot to offer, it's a treasure

Such a beautiful, clean, and well maintained store. The fish tanks are so clean and pretty. Nice selection of fish. So much to look at in here.The staff here are so helpful and friendly. There is always someone available to help without having to look all over the store.

Great! Not cheap, however, service is good. Interesting array of goods and pets. Wish they had saltwater fish. Lots of people breeding saltwater fish now. Would be nice is a local store picked up on it.Love the bird selection. Wish they had large parrots. I am looking for female Eclectus. My male lost his mate during breeding. 🤒 Aloha!

When it comes to pets and all you need for your pet, Kalihi Pet Center is the best. My husband and I were looking for a puppy for a long time. When we got to Kalihi Pet Store, they had several puppies (one was sold). All puppies at the store were adorable. When I was holding the puppy at Kalihi Store, I couldn't put him back. We are happy parents of our precious puppy, and feel so lucky to have him in our lives.

Locally owned & operated. Staff of local boys were very helpful, polite, professional, & friendly. They took the time to open & go through each aquarium kit until I found the perfect one to fit my specific needs.Their selection was smaller than the chain stores, but Kalihi Pet Center obviously cares enough to choose only high quality items to sell. Floor to ceiling merchandise. Rows tight because they really packed in as much as they could.

My FAVORITE pet store here in Hawaii. Their prices are reasonable, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased 2 very healthy parakeets from them and they were very helpful in answering all my questions. They had all the supplies that I needed when I had purchased my birds and I continue to go here for my birds food and anything else I may need. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Kalihi Pet Center.Lots of free parking too!

I really like this store. They have clean, well-maintained fish tanks, CONSISTENTLY. Customer service is also spot on. Their fish department is very small but that's probably due to the fact that these guys are a full blown PET store (Yes, I'm a fish enthusiast, nothing more. Sorry to disappoint)... And perhaps why their tanks are always beautiful. Less to clean haha.On occasion, I can find something different or exotic, something maybe that I just want, and these are reasons for my periodic visits. It's never a wasted visit. I, honestly, have another favorite store, but it's comparing apples and oranges. A few times, I found difficult-to-obtain rainbowfish here. Anyone that's lived in Hawaii and has been involved long enough and with any intensity, knows you shop around, find the good stores, and then do your rounds. Kalihi Pet Center is definitely on my circuit

Had 3 opae'ula in a small glass tank container with a lid on top.Was told from the previous seller that it doesn't ever need cleaning.Left them like that for more than 6 months except to open the lid to periodically feed them.Got so fed up at looking at a very cloudy and algae covered situation so I decided to clean it by gently emptying them into a ceramic bowl as I proceeded to clean the tank.Filled it with "fresh tap" water and placed their decorations and then the opae back in.The next morning one was found dead at the bottom and the others were not acting normal.Rushed over to Kalihi Pet to tell them about finding one of them dead because I thought I saw shrimp for sale there before.The first thing the owner asked me was if I used tap water and I said yes and he said they can't be in just tap.Before I could blink he just took off to the tank area of his store and came back with a brand new bottle of ready to use brackish made by them.He said hurry home and I stood for a second by their checkout area but he said no need pay just go with it and change the water in the tank.I couldn't thank him enough because the two remaining opae are doing well and seem calm and acting normal again.Thank you all at Kalihi Pet Center for helping save my opae and not to mention the big bottle of brackish water for free (not cheap)!!Aloha and God Bless

The staff was a great mixture of newbies and long term employees. There is always a good system going here.As far as supplies, the variety could be improved but due to the lack of space I can't attribute any negligence on their part.The diversity in available animals is great plus they are knowlegable in how to keep them humanely comfortable until they find a new forever home. They had cute little puppies rabbits and cats. The store is small but it had a lot of items in it. There were also fish of many different types and lizards.

Purchased a Holland lop bunny yesterday afternoon. The fur was matted and there was discharge around the nose that we noticed that evening. However, he ate fine and drank plenty so we didn't think much more about it. This afternoon he died with no warning. I plan on contacting the store tomorrow when they open and will give an update.

Healthy animals, dogs, birds, reptiles, fish, and crustaceans. Great inventory for all your pet needs! Locally owned with great, knowledgeable, friendly, and good looking staff. Individual tanks assure you that your healthy fish isn't contaminated by another tank. Always a great place for live food like worms, shrimps, crayfish, feeder fish, crickets, and even micro worms! It's nice to see they try to bring in fish that aren't the normal pet store fish.

I purchased a couple fish that were $30 each. Not even a full week of owning them and they were all infested with a disease called ich. On top of that I had to deal with burying my fish. Beware when you purchase fish from here!!! Also, doesn’t seem like any of the employees care too much when a fish jumps out their tank either. It shouldn’t take a customer like me to put him back. Tanks are so overcrowded I couldn’t find which one it came from.I’ve purchased a chameleon here awhile ago and he was friendly. Good purchase. Overall, I’d probably only come back for supplies.As for customer service, it needs some work.Communication is close to nonexistent at all.

They do have nice supplies for your pets, bit the pets that they sell are not treated right. I noticed most of there birds in cages way to small, and allot of the birds had damage to their feathers. As I continued to look around I saw 4 turtles around 6 inches in length all in what looked to be a 20 gallon tank. The fish we're jumping out of there tanks and the employee said they do that allot. They need to take better care of the animals they have and if they can't handle it they shouldn't house as many or any at all.

My Mom bought her puppy and everything she needed for her puppy. We go back to buy supplies whenever we need something. There is always someone around to ask if you have questions. The place is small, but the staff is knowledgeable, and friendly. The store is always clean, the animals are well taken care of and healthy. They have a great selection of items for just about every pet, definitely the ones they sell. All in all it's a great little place that I highly suggest over petsmart and the like.

I’m not going to get into a long rant about this place. I just know some pets are better taken care of then others. The employees every time I’ve went are rude and huff and puff when I ask them for plants but they are cheap. Stopped buying plants there because one or more of the plants was carrying ich and I was upset I had to treat my whole tank. Otherwise giving 3 stars they have a huge selection of stuff puppies, chicks, fish, tons of product packed in there and many of it has great deals. Except their puppies of course but I would never buy a puppy from there. A couple puppies looked very sick on a few occasions with staff, mange, and kennel cough. Chicks looked healthy and most* fish looked pretty healthy besides a couple floaters which is semi normal for fish stores.

The staff is nice and store has a awesome selection of fish and animals. I bought 13 neon tetras from here and the guy gave me two extra for free. They are only $0.99 there buy the way vs the $1.99 you pay down the road from them at PetSmart. I am definitely coming back since I would rather shop here instead PetSmart and Petco. Good job Kalihi Pet Store.

They always have what I need. I called around to a couple of pet stores closer to me, and they didn't have what I was looking for. Didn't even call Kalihi. Just drove over, knowing they'd have everything. They are worth the extra drive!
