Good grocery store but not my favorite KTA location simply due to size and variety of items. I didn't see a Poke/seafood section or a bakery/hot food section. Still a great choice if you are visiting or base yourself close to downtown Hilo.

Like a convenience store but with supermarket prices and selection. Best staff. For tourists in town, great place to buy coffee and gifts for back home

KTA is an essential shopping stop in Hawaii. They have a great mix of items and food you might not find anywhere else.As a local I do my bulk shopping at Costco, but my weekly shopping is split between farmers markets, food stands and KTA!Incredibly friendly staff, this old store might be a bit darker and dingier than others, but it has products you would not find anywhere else.Plus fresh produce that wasn’t shipped from a huge farm on the mainland!I’m a snacker, so I appreciate the variety of old school and modern treats.Literally something for everyone… since we all gotta eat. Eventually.

Are you a tourist? This is a great place to visit to pick up local fare. The staff and the customers are super-friendly. One local helped recommend things he sends to family and friends off the island, like the dried macadamia nuts and the locally made Stone Cookies. And the boxes of Hawaiian-style Mexican wedding cookies made with macadamia nuts are out of this world.

KTA is a one stop shop. Find fresh produce, dairy products, breads, fish, meats, medicines, canned foods, liquor and even some already prepared foods. The prepared foods consist of poke, sushi rolls, fruits, mac salads, taegu, etc.They'll often carry some specialty items like Two Ladies Kitchen mochi and Uncle Kelly Boy's breads/rolls and cookies (usually located near the cashier).Parking lot available on the lot.

Good variety of food.Was fun to see all the local food offered, but was shocked at the price of something I hadn't seen since I was a teenager... reminds me how old I am getting, cause when I was a kid, the were .25 cents. Also, we are in Hawaii... and I know food is more expensive here.Regardless of price, was still cool to see an old favorite I hadn't seen in 35 years

Downtown KTA is great! I love the selection and location.Fresh poke options, including ahi and octopus. The marinated tofu and cucumber kimchi are delicious. Plenty of Hawaii coffee, cookies, snacks, and Mac nuts if you're looking for items to bring back.KTA had cold drinks in the front and sells a variety of liquor and beer that you can carry out.They have a big parking lot as well.This is one of the few public restrooms in downtown Hilo.

It's well worn and funky but it is KTA. The prices are modestly better than Sack N Save. I have seen it full of people from the cruise ship which is a head scratcher. No bakery or deli to speak of. The best that downtown had to offer for groceries.

A supermarket in downtown Hilo. Often have big steaks cooked for $1.00. Some things are more expensive than other stores and some things are less. Worth checking out if you plan to do shopping for groceries in Hilo more than once, or you just want to check it off your "Visiting Places in Hawaii" list...Staff is mostly Aloha friendly and some are super Aloha friendly.Nice big bench area up front to sit and eat or drink something you bought for a spell and you can sometimes try to enjoy the live music coming from the bustling restaurant across the street with their often packed outside patio full of tables.

KTA must stand for Killed Things Aroma - the predominant smell when I entered this store was not just meat, but rotting meat smell. I decided to look around the store trying to ignore the smell & I was surprised to see items that should've been in refrigeration, like katsu sliders, and other party trays were just sitting on shelf displays. I was like nope - the combo of the bad meat smell and the lack of sanitary practices was enough to turn me away from this local chain the rest of my trip.

Fresh variety of foods sure to meet the needs of most household chefs. Grass fed beef. Small store that is well organized and has seriously nice staff. Love how quick I can get my weekly shopping done. Ample free parking with security guard.

Best grocery chain on the Big Island. Best grocer in town. There is a wide variety of items! Helpful, friendly staff. Good Prices! Fish and meat selections superb and catered to local tastes. KTA really cares about their community. This makes me feel good about shopping there. Can get ready made healthy fresh meals at a reasonable price. KTA does so much in a small space. Always a clean environment.

Best market in the area. They have almost everything that you could want and many local products as well as a great Asian food selection. Many brands of beer, wine and liquor. Seafood, deli, and bakery departments. Friendly and helpful staff. No membership or card requirements. Good sales if you know what you are looking for. Many health food items are available as well.

Workers are very nice and friendly. I use to work security there, and even tho I had the privilege to meet alot of them, there still nice and friendly. Been going to that store since I was little. If I could define another word for KTA, simple, "KEEPING THE ALOHA".
