Came at opening on Monday 5/6 and the staff member was extremely rude. Didn’t say hello back to me when I greeted him first. When I asked a question about their merchandise he just quickly said “no.” They have cute stuff but they weren’t friendly or helpful whatsoever

I rented 2 boards from them, they were very helpful and made the process easy. It is nice that they are located a few blocks from several beaches on Hanalei Bay. Their clothing selection is good too, bought several shirts and a hat. Thanks for the help and customer service!

Nice stuff but the “we love Maui” fundraiser is misleading. It’s a whole table of things so you believe if you purchase something on the table it’s going to victims of the fire on Maui. In actuality it is only stuff that says, “we love Maui” but the sign is misleading. It’s actually deceitful. Hopefully they will change the sign.

Quality items (shoes of all kinds, surf supplies, clothing) at reasonable prices. Friendly staff that were happy to answer questions and visit with. A small collection of Hanalei branded merch that was unique to other shops in town.

I am a local resident born and raise on island. I was communicating with Nainoa (believed to be the owner)to order a short board. I've called multiple times and texted his cell to only get the run around and broken promises. I've waited over a month and still no confirmed order of what I specifically wanted. He tell me 2-3weeks and then I get no follow ups. His Communication, follow up, customer service is awful (sucks). I won't be giving my business to this store and if anyone reads this, please look else where to do business where you really get good customer service and help. I will also be spreading the word to fellow friends and surfers etc...

This was my favorite shop in all of Hanalei (and I hit them all!). Scored a great sweatshirt and sticker, and my boyfriend got a few shirts and shorts, too. Customer service was top notch. We were helped a ton by the nicest gal, come to find out it was only her second day!Hope you add more to your website. Definitely would go back.

Bad service and expensive. Rented two surfboards and the employees didn’t know anything about their boards or the beach they’re located in. They didn’t really seem to care about giving a good service, barely answering our questions, and when we came back they made us wash the surfboards for them? Go to Hawaiian Surfing Adventures which is cheaper and just next door!

Good selection of brands and sizes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I bought a Billabong SPF shirt which turned out to be a little too small, you know, because my muscles are so huge. Return was simple and easy. Gave the kids some cool stickers too. Nice people, nice shop!

The folks at the shop were super helpful! My rental car's battery ran out - they went out of their way to not only jump start my car but also made sure my car was in a good state before I drove off. Mahalo!

I was impressed with this surf shop, and they had some really interesting clothing that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I thought their sweatshirts were very unique and cool, hence I bought one! Check this place out, the staff was friendly and the overall layout of the store was quaint and cool.

Staff was super-helpful and friendly. Hooked us up with a few nice pieces of clothing / gear and rented us a surfboard. Also recommended a great surf-instructor for some lessons. Definitely a cut above the normal touristy souvenir shop.

Recently visited this shop. We were in the shop about 20 minutes. There were 3 employees in the shop at that time. No one asked if we needed help, or greeted us. Basicalkt we were ignored. Really liked the t-shirts but would never promote such an unfriendly establishment.

There was a man working who likely owned the business. He was short and rude with us, despite being wrong in what he was telling us. His comments to a younger male employee were condescending and loud so that could be heard throughout the store. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing for shoppers as well as the employee. I hope that young man quits...soon. The other guy would clearly be happier doing it all on his own.

Coming from UK we were quite unprepared when it came to surf style. Hanalei Surf Shop fully outfitted us with the proper clothing and provisions. Terrific friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Went here a few times while I was vacationing with my family- my daughter loved the store, the first two times were great, loved the clothes and the employees were friendly- went back to get a few last things before we went home, had my 6 year old and 14 year old sons who were being a little loud, a man who was just staring Rudely at us from the beginning told them to go outside.. really, for the amount of money we spent there this week, and they were just being kids-apparently the owner of the company, yeah we won’t be going back, went next door and was treated much better- it’s a tourist shop, what a rude man.

Tried to rent a board from here in early April, but the dude in the shop didn’t know the difference between a fish and a shortboard. When I pointed out what board I wanted, the dude refused to rent it to me! He scoffed and claimed I wouldn’t be able to ride it (despite having an almost identical board at home which is my daily driver). He then instructed me to go to their other store across the road as they had heaps of fishes. They didn’t. Just shortboards and Mals. Quite disappointing to find someone so clueless, rude and condescending working in a Surfshop in Hawaii.
