We had an incredible stay at the Bamboo Inn in Hana. John, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. The room was beautiful and had great views of the ocean. There was a beautiful breeze off the ocean and the sound of the crashing waves in the bay was lovely to listen to as we fell asleep. The breakfast was simple, but delicious. I loved the fresh flowers that were delivered daily. I would love to visit again.

Beautiful location....however, this property really needs ome attention! Firstly when we arrived in the dark the host barely showed us how to open the front door and left. We had to find the outside shower and the light switches to see on our own.The kitchen was very poorly stocked with minimal plates and plastic cups etc. The fridge leaked water onto the floor. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the linens were old and worn out.The bedroom ceiling fan was old and noisy with a bearing worn out, needs a new fan.The outside shower was fun but definitely dirty and not private! The cute small breakfast basket was very limited with a muffin and warmed up croissant, a sliver of butter all placed on top of a miniscule sliver of papaya! Come on, for over $300 a night.... really? We stayed three nights.....also the neighbors upstairs were noisy and they could look down outside and see us through the floor boards on our lanai from theirs. Not very private. Plus the ugly dirty bath jet tub on the lanai was a total waste of space. More patio furniture would be way more useful here. The view was beautiful, weather was great.....Hana was a rural interesting town with gorgeous hikes and views all around. Probably won't stay here again though! Needs some love and attention.

Great spot to stay! Walkable to Hana Bay Beach. Great Hana location of looking to hike around the Hana area. Included breakfast (warmed croissants, warmed muffin, and fruit) served at 830 am each day in a nice little basket! View from the Naia room was breathtaking!!! Nothing quite like enjoying your coffee watching the waves in the bay. There’s a black sand beach within walking distance from the back yard of the property.

So the view is gorgeous. The beach below is rocky, steep and appeared kind of treacherous. The room could use some updating but appeared clean. The outside shower was icky and wasn't really clean. The tub on the deck was pretty old and the jets didn't appear to work. Breakfast was small juice and purchased croissant and half a muffin heated. For the price I had hoped it would be a bit more .

We had a lovely stay in the Nai’a suite for 2 nights for our honeymoon and are so glad we spent some time overnight in Hana. The property and Hana itself is like a dream. Just beautiful, tropical, and right on a gorgeous beach. Check-in was easy and John and Snoop were there to greet us when we arrived. Snoop (the Bamboo Inn dog) took us on a tour of the beach right away which was super cute. The room itself was great with plenty of space, a big comfy bed, and a jacuzzi on the downstairs balcony. We slept with all the windows and screen doors wide open, feeling the breeze and hearing the waves crash. Breakfast was simple and tasty with a few croissants, muffins, and juice. One tip: this is a tropical area so make sure to keep your food stored securely or your $7 coconut dream bar might get eaten up by ants This was a great base to explore the area around Hana. We particularly loved Hamoa Beach, Waianapana State Park (reservations required), and dining at Hana Farms. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend Bamboo Inn to anyone!

Stayed in Honu suite, shower was listed as outdoor private shower but what wasn't listed is the fact that it is accessible to the public, doesn't have a lock, the door doesn't close all the way, and the unit above has to walk past the shower to get to their unit, so not very private. Also, the outdoor whirlpool doesn't work. There isn't any A/C but with the breeze it isn't needed, and the lizards running around inside do a good job keeping the bugs in check. The view was gorgeous but would not recommend the Honu suite

We stayed here instead of driving to and from Hana on the same day. It is fabulous!! The room was very comfortable, had a beautiful and peaceful, relaxing view of the ocean only a short walk away, and a hot tub on the deck. We felt so relaxed here that we sat on the deck all morning and could hardly get up and going. It is clean and has a well equipped kitchen. I highly recommend the Bamboo Inn and we will stay here again.Tom & Michelle

We booked the Bamboo lodge three months in advance in preparation of a family vacation. One month out I contacted the owner to ask a few questions regarding our registered service dog for my wife's physical disability. In violation of state and federal law, the owner refused our confirmed and paid for reservation stating 'No Pets'. Did he refund our money? Sure but with no other options within my price range that close to our travel date, we skipped the Hana portion of our trip. Lawsuit? Sure but what's the point? Why 2 stars. Because no one reads reviews with one star.

Amazingly quaint place. Talked with the owner for about an hour on the history of the entire place. We called ahead to check on availability and he told us to just make ourselves at home while he was away. Extremely humble and gentle man with a plethora of stories. The place doesn’t have AC but it does have a jacuzzi on the back porch facing the ocean. The shower was outside of the room. Prime location while staying in Hana to allow you first dibs on the nearby attractions (Hamoa beach, Haleakala Nation Park, Wai’anapanapa State Park, etc.)

My wife and I rented the Nai'a Suite for two nights and our expectations were exceeded in every way. Falling asleep and waking each morning to the sound of the waves and wind rustling through the palm trees was a perfect ending to a great week in Maui. While more expensive, the Nai'a Suite has the best view (top and bottom decks) and a semi-private outdoor jacuzzi. Bamboo Inn isn't just a name - the doors are hand-carved bamboo from Asia, there are carved works of art, gorgeous floors and the place was the definition of immaculate. It definitely has a very high end feel. My wife was a bit concerned about geckos but there wasn't so much as a bug anywhere. The owner and host John made some great recommendations for our stay. The breakfast basket that he provided each morning allowed us to enjoy it on our deck before we set off for the day. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Hana.

One of the most amazing experiences we have ever had. Gorgeous scenery and a super quaint inn. The owner knew it was a special trip for us and on the 2nd night upgraded us to a special area/room that he uses for his guests. It was special and unexpected. John, the owner, made us feel like we were royalty. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. I am writing this 4 years later----that tells you how great it was. I hope to go back again.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Bamboo Inn at Hana Bay. We loved the rustic charm and truly Hawaiian aloha spirit. The beach is so close and you can hear the surf crashing from the bed. We stayed for one night in the Honu Suite to break up our Road To Hana trip and we were so glad we did.The Honu Suite had everything we needed and we a absolutely loved the private outdoor shower, which was really the only thing I was worried about but was such a refreshing experience...a warm shower outside!!The continental breakfast - warm croissants and muffin with papyaya and breakfast juice was a great start as we were going to the Haleakala National Park to do the the Pipiwai Trail (which I would also highly recommend).Thank you to John, Snoop and family for sharing your beautiful pievp of paradise.

Overpriced and a little sad... Hana needs a Motel 6! Paid over $300 for a suite here, nice view and we ignored the many bugs in the suite, the piles of dust on some blinds and the lack of blinds in the bedroom (get changed with the lights off), but.... Paying over $300 for a room and having the Inn leave you only 1/4 roll of TP for the night is more than enough to tick off even the most congenial of seniors. What cheapskates!

Really enjoyed this place. Great service and great location. View is gorgeous and we really loved the hot tub on the porch. Great fresh breakfast and fresh flowers daily. Plenty of food nearby. Owner was super nice and beach access is steps away.

Well worth the money, the view of the sea is spectacular. With two balconies and a hot tub on the lower balcony you couldn't ask for more. The owner is kind and provides a cute breakfast basket in the morning.

A nice place, but be sure you know what you're in for. We stayed at the Honu suite. An outdoor shower, no glass windows (plantation shutters and screens only), and geckos on the wall were amongst the surprises. For that, you get a location right by Hana Bay with views and the sounds of waves crashing. Descend the steps to catch the sunrise from the shore. Also walkable to the Travaasa Hotel Hana and Hana Beach Park. We enjoyed our stay, and it was a great location for day trips to the Pools at Ohe'o and Wai'anapanapa state park.

Iwa Suite was outstanding both in comfort and wood decor. A two level suite with Jacuzzi on lower back deck, listening to crashing waves, watching stars twinkle thru swaying, clacking palm fronds. It was too beautiful to sleep but when we did drift off finally, with a soft warm breeze caressing our faces, dreams of "South Pacific" were guaranteed. Coffee on the upper balcony in the morning as the sun rose over the black sand cove, completed our idyllic stay.

Low budget motel room in the guise of Hawaii prices. Needs a total facelift and some TLC to be comfortable. The warm Costco croissant was a nice touch.

The owner/person in charge of this Inn was incredibly rude, insulting and demeaning towards my mother after a recent reservation scheduling issue (the reservation was a gift for my wife and me on our honeymoon). I would encourage any and all to avoid dealing with such an unprofessional, toxic and aggressive owner by selecting one of the many other beautiful lodging options on Hana Bay.

This place is wonderful. The owner, and his awesome dog were great. The dog is trained to escort you to the beach! The decor in our rental was beautiful, and the location is great for capping off your trip to Hana. The beach is very rocky, so bring proper shoes. The view of the stars at night is breathtaking.
