This is an awesome surf/water sports shop, but we called in to hire a kayak so we could paddle up the river and hopefully see turtles.It was $30/hour to hire a two person kayak that came with paddles and life jackets.You have to go around the back to get the gear and there’s a little back and forth and the end with paying inside and then clearing your credit card details.The staff were very chatty and helpful and made it a very easy exercise all round.From the beach, you set off left and under the bridge. Word of advice - don’t ask the local kids bombing off the bridge into the water, if they call it a ‘Manu’ like we do in NZ, because they’ll do it right next to your kayak and you’ll be drenched!We spent just under an hour lazily kayaking up the stream and back. It’s a super easy kayak - very flat and no discernible current.We were stoked to see around 15 turtles in the water next to us and resting up on the banks of the river.It’d be a great activity to do with kids as it’s safe and exciting to spot the turtles.Definitely recommend.

My wife and I did a surfing lesson with Henry and it was a great experience. Best deal going on the island. For $85 each, Henry brought us out and taught us how to surf. We had NEVER surfed before and within minutes Henry had us catching waves and successfully surfing! For beginners, Henry will find the exact best spot to catch waves and teach you the ins and outs of surfing. Here I thought I wouldn’t even be able to stand up on the board, and Henry had me looking like a pro! I’m really appreciative of Henry’s patience and coaching. Everyone at the Surf N Sea location is super kind and helpful. No need to go anywhere else!

Avoid this shop and their surfing instructor at all cost!!Due to a last minute cancellation we had to look for another surfing lesson so we chose them and booked a same day surf lesson with Henry the instructor. We suddenly realized one of our friends forgot to pack contact lens so we requested postponement to tomorrow. Then miraculously his tomorrow has only “private lessons” left. When we first inquired an hour ago, his entire Day was fully open not one student. Now he decided to take advantage of our situation and charged us 300% more on private lessons. Naturally, we paid the cancellation fee which is 50% and backed out of this outrageous coach. How can a student trust the integrity of this instructor when he only has money making in his mind?!This level of unprofessional behavior and taking advantage of tourist should be reported and made aware!

My experience definitely did rub me the wrong way. We rented a couple of surf boards for a few hours, and when we returned they tried to charge us for more hours than we rented the boards for. I hope it was an honest mistake, but it did feel like to us that they may have purposefully tried to overcharge us. We ended up getting it all sorted out and refunded after we had already paid for it, but my piece of advice is to make sure to check the start time that they write and confirm it is indeed accurate.

Ok not a kayak guy but this was fun. The cost 30 dollars for a hour was very reasonable. They have little river nearby that was nice to travel up and was able to see schools of fish, lots of vegetation and even a few turtles.We had a great time with the family.

A must stop on the north shore! Although we were only up for the day and did not get to rent boards from them, we did purchase several apparel items. Eddie helped us and made us feel right at home. He got a few laughs from us, answered all our questions, and made our 13 year old want to live in Hawaii.

Surf lesson was great. Sam was very nice & patient, but also direct enough so we weren’t a menace to the other surfers and ourselves. Perfect balance of guiding hand and direction while still allowing us to make the mistakes necessary to learn.My brother & I were complete beginners and it was a great experience. 10/10 do recommend. 🙌🏼

I bought my surfboard here and have shopped here several other occasions, and it’s a positive experience every time. Big mahalo to Hunter for answering my many questions when I came in on multiple days trying to figure out what surfboard to buy. I’ve only used a Costco foamie previously, and Hunter took the time to help me understand what board would be a good fit for me to try next. I greatly appreciated the patient help; it felt like browsing surfboards with a kind neighbor and not with a salesman—thanks Hunter! Having shopped around a bit, this seems to be the best selection of surfboards, wetsuits, and swimsuits in the area.

Incredible experience. Instructor was knowledgeable and had me standing and surfing on my first wave! He made sure I got the full two hours and I couldn’t have ridden another after that if I wanted because I was exhausted! Great place!

Had a really good experience SCUBA diving with Surf N Sea. It had been several years since I had been diving and had never dived in Hawaii before so originally I had been signed up for an easy shallow dive. Dive Master for my outing reviewed my experience with me and picked a dive that would push me but was still perfect for my comfort level. We went out on a boat to a shipwreck and the Dive Master stuck with me through the whole trip to make sure it went well for me. She even brought a camera and shared the pics with me for some great memories of the dive.

I give these awesome guys 5+ stars. My reason being I was standing at my car in the parking lot of Haleiwa Beach Park talking to a friend of mine telling him how I was bummed that they didn't return the hat I won in a contest because it was defective and the strap wasn't even sowed down in the back is why I was returning it the next day I won it after painting and helping open up the Haleiwa surf center right there at Haleiwa Beach Park. I had painted the large gate in front of the stairway it took me all day cuz I had to extra lather coat it because of the lead base paint underneath. And I was saying to my friend I know it's free and I want it but you think they would make sure I got a good product. Someone suddenly behind me said excuse me can I see that for a second he looked at it it turned out it was the brada was owner manager of Surf n Sea and he said I will be right back, he brought me back a hat after overhearing me and it was the same hat but with a different print saying aloha on it with the Hurly symbol in it. I have much respect for this Awesome surf shop and the small kine awesome Moral from the management down you feel good just walking into the shop.

I did my PADI Open Water Dive certification with Surf N Sea, and I’m so glad I did! I would highly recommend this shop over any crowded and touristy places in town.The dive master (Charlie) is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and a great teacher. She has done over 5000 dives and knows Sharks Cove like the back of her hand. I was so impressed! She has a very calming presence and can tailor the training to your comfort level. I was really nervous to do the mask off swimming, but she made me feel very safe and calm underwater. Because this shop is farther away from Honolulu/Waikiki, I was lucky enough to have 1:1 training with the dive master. Amazing!!We did two days of diving in Sharks Cove and completed two dives each day about an hour long each. Sharks Cove is an awesome place to dive. We saw tons of different endemic fish, some little reef sharks, turtles, eels, crab, lobster, a halibut, and much more. Charlie is an expert at spotting different underwater creatures and knows so many different species and their hiding places. She can also find tons of hidden octopus and plays with them underwater. There were many swim throughs and little coral reef tunnels that were really cool to explore.Highly highly recommend, thank you Charlie!!

We went to buy flip flops and that's what we got. They have a great selection with many sizes. Yuri came over to help us within minuets of trying on and greeted us with a smile. Wonderful customer service and she is very friendly and helpful. The store is tight but there's a lot to look at (:

While on my honeymoon I decided to book a beginners surf lesson with Surf n Sea. The shop is really cool it reminded me of my hometown, San Diego.I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to the lesson but they provide the surf board and a rash guard along with some instructions. We made our way out and by instructor was awesome, some people were struggling so the instructor helped them get past the channel. After catching a few waves I ended up feeling motion sickness and made my way back to shore. I appreciated my instructor for helping me get back and they also checked on me to make sure I was okay.Great hospitality and would highly recommend for kids and adults.

We did a group of 4 surf instruction with Sam at Chun's Reef and it was a blast. The waves were pretty flat that day but Sam found us the best spot and was very patient with all of 4 of us. If you don't know going in, you will be meeting your instructor at Surf N Sea and then following them to the best spot to surf is, but they transport the boards so you only have to worry about getting yourself to the spot. This was a very cool day and I highly recommend this experience to anybody.

We had an amazing time with Henry! Booking on line was extremely easy. We were caught in very heavy rains which didn’t stop us from the lesson. Henry was very clear in his directions and patient with all of us. He provided feedback which helped us have a ton of success!! We were all able to get up and enjoy some surfing!! My wife and I are vacationing in Oahu for 10 days to spend some much needed time together. I just took a guys trip to a surf camp in Mexico last summer so I didn’t want to push my luck traveling with boards since this wasn’t a “surf” trip. After many adventures on the island together she suggested we look for a shop to rent a board so I could catch a session on the north shore and that’s what brought us in. As we entered, she wandered off to the clothes and I inquired about rentals. I was met by a young man that seemed to be quite irritated with me looking for a high performance board to catch a few waves with. I’m not sure what he was going through at the moment (maybe his dog just got ran over) but there was an overwhelming sense of superiority radiating from him. He actually told me he wouldn’t rent me a board after he asked me where I wanted to surf (pupukea) which was baffling. I wandered over to where my wife was and grabbed a Hurley shirt and hat that were specific to the shop. As a small business owner, I love to support local shops so I usually pick up a t shirt as a souvenir. As I was checking out the same employee met me at the register to ring everything up. He asked me if anyone in the store helped us with our purchases which made me laugh out loud because not one employee approached us the entire time we were there. 🤙🏻

My friend and I took beginner surf lessons with Surf N Sea after seeing several positive reviews. We had an excellent time, and had so much fun! Our guide was very informative and helpful, and we were doing great in no time at all. Would def recommend if you're looking for somewhere to pick up surfing, or if you want to speak with knowledgeable staff.
