The owner will also make the excuse that because it said so on the receipt that it means you were made aware. This is not a place you should shop. The staff are also really creepy, impersonal, and fake. Do not buy from here.

Worst experience I've had in my 3 years of living here. If you want to feel like a huge inconvenience and be judged for committing the sin or talking about surfing at a surf shop, this is the place for you. Nothing but a bunch of kook or non-surfer emplyees who will take their grade school angst out on you. Go literally anywhere else.

Our favorite shop in Oahu. Great customer service. Unique shirts that are made and designed locally, which is what we were looking for. They were friendly to my crazy 6 year old and invited us on a light up paddle board trip that I wish we could've done. Hope to visit again some day!

Was on the North Shore April 2023. Went to get some shaved ice at a very popular place and notice the north shore surf shop catty corner down the street. They had some very unique designs and while I am not a surfer I did appreciate all the other things they had to sell including hats shirts, ukuleles and such. Bought several shirts and a hat for my wife and even had an opportunity to chat with Louis the owner about his time, going to school in Arizona, and his journey from Mexico at an early age and ending up in Hawaii. Very inspiring story of how to be a successful businessman starting from nothing. Having been in retail for over 30 years myself, I loved the feeling of the store and how personable all of the employees were. If you're around there, you should stop in.

06-25-23, Purchased three kids items here. The attendant mentioned purchase 3 and get 5 dollars off each item. None of the clothing had price tags. So obviously we asked how much for each, 24 for girls shorts (s), tee shirt 14.00, (s), Boyes size 8 long sleeve swim shirt. 35.00, 78.00 right?!? Minus the 15.00 is 63.00 nope Bill was 80.00 when questioned the guy noted the shorts were 34, not 24. We were scammed plain and simple. The kids were starving and my daughter needed something other than a swim suit to ware. So did not press the issue.

Called North Shore Surf shop in Haleiwa to inquire about a surf lesson for my 6yr old son, specifically for a “tandem” ride lesson. I even shares that my son had one tandem lesson a few days ago and loved it and that’s why i am trying arrange another one. A staff i spoke on the phone with sounded professional and confident. informed me that they do tandem ride lessons and are one of the best at teaching kids so we went ahead and booked a private lesson for my son. We also requested to a rent a soft top surf board for my wife. On the day of, the instructor apparently brought a wrong board for my son as he claimed that he was not informed about a tandem ride lesson by the shop thus my wife had to give the larger soft top board that we rent to the instructor and took a smaller hard top board instead. We weren’t so happy about it but didn’t make a big deal as our primary goal was to get a session for our son. We didn’t end up using the rental board much as the smaller board was too difficult for a beginner. We came back to the shop after the lesson, notified the incident to a guy at the shop and requested for a store credit( thought we were coming back for more surfing soon so didn’t even ask for a refund) for the rental board we couldn’t use. The guy at the shop was giving me attitudes and informed me that they “never” do tandem ride lesson for kids and that I should have reminded them at the beginning of the lesson. I had to argue for 10mins to get the store credit for the rental board (the whole $35 btw). There are many other surf shops in Haleiwa so I suggest you go check out other stores if you are looking for decent customer services you deserve and especially if you are looking for surf lessons for your young kids. We stayed in Hawaii for a month and shopped at many places and this store experience was by far the most disappointing.

I am from Oahu and own a surf shop, my girlfriend and I walked in looked around and walked right out. This place seemed like a california Abercrombie surf shop and also the loudest most obnoxious in Haleiwa. This felt like an embarrassment and disrespect to the north shore and the other local surf shops who have been around since I was a kid.

This is THE place to go on the North Shore. We ran into the owner, Liam, because we were lost looking for the pillbox hike. He sent us to his store and we didn’t regret it. We went snorkeling and saw so many different types of fishes. There were rocks to stand on so we didn’t have to tread in the water the entire time. Liam and his brother, Mike, made us feel like family. We ate at their shrimp truck after we got snorkeling and it was AMAZING. Don’t skip out on the shave ice either!! 12/10 recommend this place!!

Shopped in both their main store and their one person outpost down the road. The staff in both could not have been friendlier or more helpful. One guy took out a map and helped us plan our next day. Love the clothes we bought too, which were priced fairly and their own unique designs.

Loved this shop! All the designs are original, by the owner, and killer. The younger dude went out of his way to pull a T off the model for my fiancé and she couldn't have been happier... Luis even extended a discount when I wore one of his originals into the store! Be positive and love your life!

Shop is great, got an awesome shirt.. But after shopping here we went around to the other shops around and within 1 1/2 hours our car got towed! There is a sign that says customers only (which we were) and there is no written time limit! The employees did nothing to help with our stress (we had a flight to catch soon and almost missed it do to this situation) and basically told us we were on our own and the tow company just "makes their rounds" and they didn't have anything to do with it. They offered no help financially, Transportation wise, or even discounts on the merchandise we had just bought.. Very peeved about this. Great store! Just don't park there, they will screw you over.

The staff is awesome and so is the place. Recently lost my favorite souvenir (a hat from this shop). The hat was not available on their website. So I called and asked if they had them in store. They did and I was able to purchase over the phone. Did I mention the awesome staff here?!?

This place is great. It has an extensive variety of reasonably priced inventory and the staff was all super nice. I thought being a tourist in a surf shop meant I'd get treated like an outsider for sure... Well let me tell you, the staff made me feel like I was at home by not only asking if they could help in any way, but actually asked about my day, what I had planned, and even gave me suggestions on where to stop along my route. Thanks for being so rad guys!!!

I tried to give many more than one chance for these guys to show that they may care a little about their customers, or more importantly their business, but unfortunately they have really let me down. Too bad because I actually liked the t shirt I ordered and paid for in December. Not only has it never been "in" any time I've gone in to pick it up, but I have called at least five times since ordered and "one of the owners" has never even taken the second to call me back. Doesn't really make sense. Bad job North Shore Surf Shop. No thank you for wasting my time.

Before purchasing through Groupon, we called the shop and asked if we could book at such short notice. We did specify that we are planning to purchase through groupon. The person who answered the call said they could fit us in for tomorrow morning and we should come by the shop in advance to fill in some forms. So we purchased and came to north shore only to find out they have 1 week waiting list for groupon customers and recommended us to pay in cash if we want sooner. I understand groupon has a discount and they have separate schedule for groupon customers. But it would have been nice if they told us in advance instead of making us come all the way here...

Spent a week on the North Shore and loved every minute of it. Stopped by a few of the NSSS locations, and went home with some great stuff. Liam is the man, he takes care of his customers and hooks it up. Vic and Zack are good dudes. 5 star shop right here - great operation. Can't wait to go back!

This is one of our favorite shops in Haleiwa. I love all the original designs!! They're simply fabulous. Keep up the great work! My only bummer comment is that I'm not a twig, so I can't wear any of the girls shirts. But it doesn't keep me from supporting you! Peace!

My husband and I had an impromptu day in north shore and decided to go stand up paddle boarding. We were near this shop and decided to rent from here since it was close. I had planned on taking the boards down to Kawela Bay where the water is calmer, but when the cashier recommended Haleiwa River we decided to do that instead (it was my husband’s first time so it was a good starting point; the water was calm and it was a good place to learn — good suggestion!). However, they have another location in Haleiwa town which we were not told about until later (more on that in a bit). It would have made a lot more sense to send us that way, but instead they wanted to keep our business and didn’t suggest that.We shelled out $140.40 for two boards for the day (they also charge an 8% tax while Oahu’s tax rate is 4.5% — I watched the guy type it into his calculator and when I questioned it he brushed me off; that should have been my first warning). We were celebrating both my birthday and the fact that my husband just completed his masters degree, so I overlooked the cost for a fun day out without kids. We paid the money and pulled our car up, only to find out they didn’t have the boards we paid for. This is when we found out about their other location.The guy who was supposed to help us get the boards on the car first tried to suggest that we take one of their boards and straps, and then go get the other board from the other shop. This meant that we’d have to return to two different places as well, so I asked if we could just get everything from the other place. Then he tried to get us to take their straps and just get the boards from the other place. Again, we’d have to return to two different locations... again I requested that we just get everything from the other shop. At this point he told me he “wasn’t sure what their paperwork was like, it was probably different and we’d have to fill it out again...” So I fill out paper work at this other place and you guys still keep my money?Now I was really frustrated. This dude had no idea what he was doing, and they didn’t have the boards we paid for. I told them I wanted a refund but he said that wasn’t possible because we didn’t pay cash. At this point we had been there for at least 45 minutes, paid $140 and still didn’t have boards. Finally, after I went inside to tell the cashier I needed a refund, he came out and dug two boards from the bottom of a trailer in the back of the parking lot, while this other dude walked around like a dope on his phone. The cashier helped us strap the boards to my car and an hour and twenty minutes later we were finally off.There were literally three other surfer guys working and not one of them did a darn thing except the cashier, a famous surfer from Japan with the initials TW (sorry dude, I forgot your name but initials were on the paper!). So, this one star is for him. If it were up to the other guys I’d give negative stars if possible.Moral of the story: don’t rent SUP gear from here. I’m sure they’re great for over priced snorkel gear for sharks cove and probably for surfboards too, if the weather is right. But they are over priced and not worth the trouble. At the river, we met a couple who rented from a place across the street from the river entrance for $20 per board, $41 total with tax. That’s ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS than what we paid, and the company employees walked across the street with their boards for them. No car straps. No upselling. No BS. Lesson learned!
