The person we talked to was so helpful. She was very knowledgeable about the area and spent a lot of time with us. She gave us a lot of suggestions on where to go. She seemed to go off script and recommended places that were not members of the Chamber of Commerce. She also told us not to go to some places that were members, that she thought was not very good.

There is trash everywhere!! I was told it was because of a type of spring break gathering. I will not be bringing my family back. I understand the city likes to write tickets for everything…so who is going to ticket the city for allowing the beach to be trashed??

Made a stop at the visitor center.I believe the lady's name was Susan.I'm sorry if I got that wrong but she was extremely helpful & full of information. That the town was founded by the British. That the guy who designed the town divided into WARDS and each ward surrounds a park. That the people of that time didn't want the catholics church to come because it would have brought Spanish influence if I am not mistaken.Basically you could be catholic but you weren't allowed to establish a place of worship Basically take a foothold in Savanah. That slavery wasn't very popular here so you won't see all those enormous plantations you would normally see in Southern America. We thats all I can remember right now but it was really interesting

Very nice visitor's center as well as artsy creations by local artists. Beautiful, creative items most of which have the ocean/beach theme and are not inexpensive. Very friendly artist showed me around and told me all about her art as well as that of the other artists. Small but uncrowded when we were there. Great place to purchase art and support local artists. 😉

Very cute and clean place. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They suggested a delicious restaurant "Huck A Poos" and had a lot of art that was for purchase.

We stopped in on Martin Luther King holiday. We were thrilled to see the visitor’s center was open. A lovely lady named Susan was manning the desk. She was so helpful and friendly. We could tell she loved her job and the area. That is so refreshing in this day! We chatted about so many things and she gave us a great history lesson of Tybee island . This was our first visit but we will be back . It was amazing even on a cold, blustery day. The gift shop is full of local artist works. It is defiantly worth a visit too! We left with some wonderful brochures and maps . Cannot day enough good things about Susan. She’s a keeper!Kat M

There needs to be more places to sit along the town area. The town is dirty in the area around the shops. There are almost no good places to eat. We ate at the Crab Shack and it was very good. One restaurant we tried didnt even wait on us and it was recommended where we were staying didn't even wait on us so we left. It had been recommended

We visited this location twice, a few days apart. Both times, the volunteers were wonderful! They do have a very unique planter in the restroom.

The island was quaint, food was delicious HOWEVER... when it came time to shopping, which we did a lot of, none of the businesses would let us use their restrooms and directed us to the gas station. I was appalled, how disgusting for a paying tourist. I didn't think I should have to drive all the way back to my hotel to use the restroom So be prepared!!!!!

While visiting Tybee Island on Saturday, May 14, 2022, I witnessed true heroism at it's finest. A gentleman was swimming in the ocean when he got too far out and was having difficulty getting back to shore. When the lifeguards were alerted they swam so hard and so fast to get to him. I truly have a new respect for lifeguards and what they will do to save a perfect stranger's life. The skills they had were impressive to say the least especially with the waves as high as they were. I obviously didn't get their names but they are true heroes to me!

I enjoy and Think Tybee is a very beautiful beach. Just wish it was easier for parking. Had to park 3 blocks from it and walk with my 2 year old granddaughter and carry chairs Sandbucket etc. Long ways to walk with these items and make sure my granddaughter stayed out the road. I also think all beaches should make a ramp over the soft sand for handicap people. It's very hard to walk on and people in wheelchair have to be carried over. Seen also a lady a lady with a walker about fall trying to walk over it.

It's a tourist trap. The city fined us $47 for not displaying a parking receipt while we spent 30 minutes eating breakfast. So clearly they're just leeching off the out of Towner's. We are from a resort town and they don't treat locals or tourists as a cash grab like Tybee Island clearly is. That's the first and last money we'll be spending there.

We came here the day we arrived. Friendly and helpful staff working there gave us suggestions on where to take teenage girls and a toddler. They have art and hand crafted Jewelry there. The prices range from affordable to expensive. I purchased jellyfish decor that hangs. They were very well priced. I also bought 3 pairs of earrings. Sarah who works there makes some Jewelry and I purchased earrings she made.

I wanted to be on Tybee Island because the beach is beautiful and it is very close to Savannah. I have been very upset about an incident on the beach. I am not a beach person and so did not know the rules and, my own fault, did not look closely at the signs. Anyway, it was a quiet late afternoon and my sister and I decided to take a beer and enjoy the beach. We had a bag to take the bottles back. A police officer came and informed us that there was no glass allowed and gave us each a ticket. I asked him how much it would be and he would not tell me. That was for good reason! The ticket is for $367 EACH! I asked if he would just give a warning and was refused. Honestly, we made a mistake but we were no threat, just two older women sitting quietly on the beach. I will never return to Tybee and will tell all my friends not to go there either. For a town that depends on tourists you need to be more flexible. I could see if we were rowdy or a large group but a warning would have been sufficient for us.

Lots of info and brochures for Tybee Island and Savannah can be found inside. The associate on duty was extremely friendly and helpful. Also, there is a small art shop located in the building with awesome items from local artists.

I wish I could give it a negative number. My husband and I were in Savannah from Illinois to check out the area due to an upcoming job transfer. Upon arrival we decided to drive over to Tybee to have a seafood lunch, get presents for the grandkids, tour the lighthouse, and talk to a few real estate agents. We saw the sign about city wide parking fees charged. We also saw coin meters all lined up down the main street. When we got downtown to the restaurant we pulled up in front. There were no meter so we assumed it was for the restaurant. We came out to a 35.00 fine so we walked down four parking spaces to find a small sign that said pay at the box for parking. The box was then at least two more spaces down. We went down and checked out he machine. Nothing was clearly marked so outsiders would know what the rules are. I told my husband lets just go to the courthouse and explain we were in town 2 minutes and hadn't even seen the machines yet only the meters when we first came in. Instead of being reasonable and apologetic for the misleading signs she pulled out a picture of the sign coming into town and a picture of the meter boxes you pay 4.00 for 2 hrs at. Which lead me to believe this is a tourist trap. To top it off I had to pay for parking at the city hall to pay the stupid fine. She explained the boxes are spread out down the streets, about 6 per side. Like tourist are suppose to know to walk and hunt for a possible tourist trap. I would have paid for parking had I understood what was going on. Needless to say I paid the fine and we left the island. I was prepared to purchase presents for my 6 grandkids and spend money on the island. We were going to look at properties. We left without giving any business on the island another dime. I have written to the restaurant to let them know we enjoyed our meal but will never go back or recommend them and why. "Don't go to Tybee they obviously stick it to the tourists that should be their economy."

Be advised there are locals that definitely do not like anyone with out-of-state tags. My family and I were going to load our kayaks after a great day at Little Tybee Island. We pulled our boats onto the ramp at Alley Street when a local in a white Dodge truck pulled up and parked in front of the boat ramp. I asked him to pull up so we could load our boats, but he became belligerent, started cursing, and frightened my wife and son. He then backed his truck onto the ramp and parked it there. Obviously he wanted to make sure we were inconvenienced with his very childish behavior even though he was not loading or unloading anything at the boat ramp. Apparently he is one of the local thugs / bullies and he is used to getting away with intimidating visitors. We had to carry our kayaks around his truck to load into my truck. His parting words were "All of you people need to go back where you came from". The kayak rental folks were loading their kayaks onto their trailer pulled by a Jeep, and they started laughing. That must be the predominant attitude there, if you aren't renting a kayak and you are not a local you shouldn't use their public boat ramp. STAY AWAY FROM TYBEE!!!!!!!

Keep in mind that Tybee has only 2,500 parking spaces - lots and meters. A peak day arrival car count can be 12,000 cars. So arrive early and use the app even for unmarked spaces.

I just want to relate our experience on Tybee Island. We are from another state, and this was our first visit. A member of our family received a questionable traffic citation costing $300+. There are many other beautiful beaches that are happy to welcome tourists. We will not return to Tybee Island.

We were at Tybee a couple of weeks ago all I can say is have some strong eye glasses with you when you drive in. There is a sign that says something about no free public parking we never noticed it but after you get a 35.00 parking ticket everyone is quick to tell you "well there is a sign that says no free public parking on the way in'" and believe me everyone in the whole town has that plastered on their brain. After receiving a 35.00 parking ticket I told the man that gave it we didn't see any signs he said well we can't put signs all the way down the street, I told him no worry we would leave and never come back we had been there about 20 minutes. As we were leaving my 11 year old granddaughter said well I do see a sign it was behind a tree that we had parked in front of. We left went by city hall paid the fine and got the heck out of Dodge. Never to return and hopefully will convince our family and friends to do the same. Funny thing we were planning an all day trip with lunch and shopping. Wonder how much the town would have made, I can assure you more than 35.00. REALLY! Stay away!

My front desk staff thoroughly enjoyed the trolley and dolphin tour along with the knowledge that was passed on by Hallie Mobley Anderegg, the guest speaker! The people are not very bright, regularly chase away tourists by doing either odd festivals for locals that they don’t warn about. Also almost every time we go there there are a lot of jerks that scare young kids for no real reason.
