This is not only the best restaurant in Tybee but probably the best meal we had in Savannah as well. I would also place this into the category of one of the best meals I had in the last couple of years. The hand cut prime rib was out of this world. Everything we had from apps to dessert were fantastic, they made a great margarita, and accommodated our 3 year old. Don’t let the location or exterior fool you, once you step inside you feel like you are in a totality different place.

So Savannah and Tybee island GA is one of my favorite cities to visit. The history, the sea, and of course the food. Wow, this place is a gem and according to the locals one of the best. After eating here I would have to agree and so does my party! 👍 Amazing food. The oyster Rockefeller are some of the best we have ever had. The ribeye steak was unbelievably good, perfect sear and medium rare. The fried oysters are to die for. Some of the best I ever had. Has a full service bar and the old fashioned, mules, and Manhattans were good. If you are in the area; definitely check this place out. Reservations are a must. Be aware this place is $$$$. This was one of the best meals any of us had awhile. 😁

I look at three things when grading a restaurant. 1. Quality of food. 2. Service. 3. Atmosphere. The Sundae Cafe is a 5 star for the food and the service. We had the prime rib dinner and it couldn’t have been better. Taylor was our server and she was a sweetheart. She’s very nice, attentive ,and explained everything thoroughly. The only reason for the 4 star review is I give the atmosphere a 2. The restaurant is located in a little strip mall with a convenience store on one side and gas pumps on the other side and very little parking. It’s way too small and VERY noisy inside and no outside dining. I wish they would find another location where these issues would be resolved, although that could be a problem on Tybee Island. Note: a huge plus is they cook everything in olive oil and butter. NO TOXIC SEED OILS!

Casual dining. Overrated. This restaurant is popular locally. Seating has to be booked in advance. The food was ok, old oil used, fried seafood was oily, overcooked, and asparagus were overcooked, in comparison to the one seafood restaurant next door. First time in a restaurant I left without finishing the plate and not ordering any dessert. I was disappointed with the overall. It’s loud in the restaurant. The IPA was delicious though. The dish shown, Seafood Mixed Grill was $54. I enjoyed the pan seared scallops.

Our visit to Sundae Cafe was incredible! From the kindness of the person we spoke with on the phone when making a reservation, to the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant itself, to the delicious food, to the incredible service we received from our waitress, Taylor. We are a family of 6 (two adults, 4 kids) visiting Tybee on our way home to New Brunswick, Canada after visiting Disney. We’d heard about Sundae Cafe several times before taking our trip so we knew it was a must and boy… we were not disappointed! The food was amazing. We only wish we could have tried every dish! Try the seafood cheesecake!!! Yummm!Taylor, our waitress, was an absolute sweetheart. She was spot on with her recommendations. She was so kind to our girls who loved her Christmas tree earrings! She also went out of her way to make our experience in town even better. The night we were visiting just happened to be Tybee’s Christmas Parade. Taylor kindly shared this with us so we could take our kids and it was the perfect finish to our evening after the best meal.Kid-friendliness: The staff were so sweet and kind to our 4 kids dining with us. Although there is no designated kids menu they were very accommodating either modifying certain dishes for them or offering something more suitable to them (ie. pasta with butter/cheese, regular cheeseburger and fries, etc)

We were at Tybee Island for four days and ate at Sundae’s three nights of our trip! Everything we tried was fantastic!!! The people working there are awesome too! We were a group of 8 so we tried a lot of different things. Favorites… banana pudding cheesecake, seared tuna, calamari, steaks, fried oysters, burgers… all of the sides are great! Locally sourced farm to table food inspired by a very talented chef!!! Make reservations early or you might not get in.

Great cozy place on Tybee Island. Had meatloaf with garlic mashers and Brussel sprouts that was on special, was sooooo delicious 😋 Krissy at the bar was very friendly and welcoming. Totally suggest Sundae Cafe to be a MUST stop for a casual drink and excellent meal. Oh yeah, got a takeout key lime pie that was frickin awesome 👌Parking: Part of a strip mallWheelchair accessibility: A couple of accessible spots out front

My wife and I have been in Savannah, GA for the week now and last night was our last night here and we made reservations for this restaurant. It is by far the best eating in the area. I dreamed about the food and was thinking about it when I woke up. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to the area. The picture with the orange on the plate is described here: Seared Scallops, Boiled Peanut Succotash, Red Pepper Sauce, Blackened Green Tomatoes. This was my wife’s meal. Mine was self-explanatory.

This place is great! I walked over to mini shopping center after reviewing the menu online, unsure how good it might be and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the fried shrimp, hush puppies, sweet potatoes and blue cheese biscuit pudding. Everything was delicious. Nice size portions. You'll definitely want to get a to go box for any leftovers.

The food is impeccable. Was late for our trip to Tybee Island due to an issue at our hotel in Savannah. Got to Sundae Cafe and wasn’t sure due to the time if we would be able to dine. The hostess checked with the owner, and they welcomed us. Our waitress, Emily, was super pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Food came out quickly and was super yummy. They were out of a few things that I would’ve loved to try due to the late time, but what we did get was *chef’s kiss*. The filet was cooked perfectly, the calamari was such an interesting and delicious twist, and the other apps and entree we got delightful. From the hostess, server, kitchen staff, and owner, they really helped turn our day around. Thank you so much

On Tybee Island for vacation and decided to make reservations last minute to give this place a try. Definitely worth it! May actually eat here tonight as well!Flavors were out of this world and presentation was fantastic! My wife and I went with 5 other friend. We all ordered a meal and shared. My wife and I ordered a Chef Salad, brussel sprouts, and we also ordered the Pecan Crusted Chicken! The chutney on the chicken was the cherry on top. Literally made the meal taste like desert. The chicken was also so tender it was unreal! We also had the Jambalaya at the table, the special which was coffee rubbed prime rib! All were out of this world delicious! To end the night we also ordered the Key Lime Pie, Reese’s Cup Cheesecake, banana pudding cheesecake, and fireball carrot cake! Wow wow wow! Fresh and flavors were the bomb!If I could give this restaurant a 10 Star I would do so! We will be back before we leave!

Sundae Cafe was the unanimous favorite meal of our Labor Day weekend at Tybee! From the biscuits that came out before the meal, the entrees, to the desserts we loved all of our meals. My sister got the Smokehouse Burger: “the best burger I’ve had in a long time.” The fried shrimp with smashed garlic potatoes and broccolini were loved by my mom. I had the market fish special (pictured) - grouper, red corn grits, Cajun butter sauce, & sautéed okra with tomatoes, bacon, & onions. So good! Then we topped it off with key lime pie and Reese’s peanut butter pie. So rich and divine.

The reason I have a three for atmosphere is just because the noise level was high. Our food and service were amazing. The Prime Rib was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The crab cakes were wonderful and our server Michelle was very attentive despite how busy the place was. Everyone was hustling due to a full house. The chef deserved a James Beard award.

THEY OVERBOOK‼️ highly recommend if you want to loiter in a gas station parking lot for an hour past your reservation time. The staff was sincere and I am in no way blaming them for our experience. However if a reservation is promised to a customer I consider this to be a breach of contract if a restaurant fails to inform the customer of the delay before their arrival and fails to accommodate the customer when the cause of the delay is a family who has already finished their food and is just “hanging around”. If this is how they treat their customers before even serving them food there’s no telling the quality of food they are choosing to put on your plate. If you’re looking for real food and service with a smile I highly recommend Pizza on Wheels and Sugar Shack next door.

We've been wanting to try Sundae Cafe for the past few years we went to Tybee and this year we (FINALLY) did! Easily the most recommended spot on the island by locals and I have no doubt why after giving it a try. Simply one of the best meals of my life! Reservations are strongly recommended by the restaurant and that isn't something to be ignored - they were packed the night we were there with no walk in availability.

This place was amazing. One of the best restaurants all around I’ve been to in a long time. Service was stellar, the food was ridiculously good, and honestly being able to make a reservation is a gift when you want to be sure you can eat without a wait on the island. Not a single item on the menu felt like an afterthought. The oysters Rockefeller are a must try, all the seafood was beyond fresh and so flavorful. The best fried shrimp and oysters I’ve maybe ever had. The steak was ridiculously good too. Also so cool to see where they are getting their ingredients from locally.

What a great surprise this place was. From the outside, it doesn't look like much being in a strip center, but the food is absolutely terrific. Service was great. The atmosphere was nothing special, but who cares when your meal is that good. Oh, and the prices were very reasonable. Be sure to make reservations! You probably won't get in, otherwise.Dietary restrictions: One of our party has celiac disease but she was able to find several things on the menu she could eat.

Five fabulous stars for this place you absolutely cannot miss while visiting or staying on Tybee! Tucked away in the middle of a shopping plaza this place served up the best food we have had on the island. We did not have reservations but had no problem sitting at the bar. Christy, our server and bartender was absolutely fabulous. First, we enjoyed the pimento fritters topped with green tomato yellow pepper jam - ooey, gooey, crusty and bursting with flavor. We had the shrimp and grits and the pecan crusted chicken which were to die for! The blue cheese bread pudding was just so good. The drinks, food, and service were five stars. Do not miss it. We will be back!

The food here is amazing. Soft biscuits and great hush puppies. I usually don't eat brussel sprouts, but they have bacon with brussel sprouts and it's awesome too. I ordered the TYB Hot Chicken with mashed potatoes. The portion size was way more than I had expected and the food was delicious. Service was also amazing; when we asked about the peach jam used, we were given 2 extra ramekins to take home. This place has some of the best service that I have ever experienced. Thanks Michelle!Parking: Parking in front of the building

I have been to the Sundae Cafe twice during my trip to Tybee Island and I'll probably go at least once more before I leave. The menu is fantastic and unique, the drinks are great too. Service is on point and friendly.

Absolutely must eat here while on Tybee. We are down here a few times a year and Sundae Cafe never disappoints. Daily specials in addition to an amazing menu.We dined on burgers this evening, I had the blue cheese with maple bacon jam, the husband had the farm house with a fried egg and bacon set up. We both had amazing house salads with house made dressings. If you are a blue cheese fan, theirs is one of the best on the island. Full bar set up and specialty cocktails. We had a Pomegranate Mules that were spectacular.Call ahead for reservations currently due to the pandemic occupancy, Doug and Chrissy at the bar were wonderful hosts for us this evening. Friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Beyond excellent service! If you're looking for the perfect local spot with out all of the tourist vibes, this is the best on the island!

We went to this restaurant to experience southern food on vacation. All of the food tasted delicious. The reason for four stars instead of five stars is because the Jambalaya Pasta hardly contained any shrimp. The complimentary biscuits with peach jam were really good as well. If you want to go to this restaurant for dinner, make reservations.

First visit was a good experience overall. We ate during lunch hours and the place wasn’t packed but a few parties did come in after us. Note: the place is very small. I would say they probably only have 10-12 tables available, 2 or 3 being booths. The young lady behind the bar was a bit dry in her greeting but we were seated promptly. The server took a few minutes to get to us but she was very attentive and thorough with her explanation of the day’s specials. My partner and I shared the fried seafood trio (shrimp, oysters and flounder) and chose fries and green beans as our sides. The kid chose a plain cheeseburger and fries. There was not a designated kids menu so he got the 8 oz burger. Everything tasted great except the green beans-they could have used a bit more seasoning. The burger was thick and juicy and the food temp was also good. The next time I’m in Tybee I’ll make sure I make a dinner reservation to try some more dishes.Parking: Parking is not the greatest. The restaurant is in a gas station strip so parking is very limited. We rode bikes so we just parked them out front.

The food here was very good so the 3 stars had more to do with service and environment. We arrived with no reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes to get in. Not a huge deal but it was odd because we noticed empty seats. We were seated and the waitress was very friendly. Restaurant was cramped and tight. A very string smell of fish was noticeable the moment you walked in so you better like fish if you come here. Prices are VERY expensive. Minimum plate I saw was $22. They brought out bread with a oil dip that was excellent. We waited over 40 minutes from ordering till our food came out which is just ridiculous. If you have nowhere to be and don’t have kids it might be fine. Food was definitely a 5 star but service (waiting time) and environment was not great. At the end of the day if you have 2 hours to kill and get a bottle of wine for your table this if your place. If not, go elsewhere!

Arrived on Tybee Island on Saturday. EVERY local we talked to through Tuesday said, “go to Sundae Cafe.” Sure glad we did on Wednesday. Friendly and attentive staff, well-crafted cocktails, outstanding food. We were a party of 8. All were happy. I ordered the fried green tomatoes as my entree cuz I wanted homemade dessert too. Tomatoes were served with apricot preserves, goat cheese and balsamic. OMG!! Best ever. You definitely want to eat here. Make a reservation.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten free options and was told most dishes could be altered to accommodate.
