Christy's Department Store is everything you expect a little beach shop to be. There are plenty of Tybee Island souvenirs. You will find a wide range of beach needs as well as some really cute beach decorations for your home. They have a really great selection of t-shirts.The store is clean and nicely laid out. The staff is very outgoing and friendly.

We have been here for a week and this store has never been open. We are very disappointed since they have shirts you can’t buy anywhere else on the island. So we will spend our money somewhere else on the island.

Staff was rude and the way they have the t-shirts set up is very hard to view the front of them. Also there is a no photography rule which makes no sense. Same stuff from the other reviewers

I see a lot of negative reviews and I get it. I have been going here every year on vacation for about 7 yrs and have been many times. The couple that runs it is very direct and it’s their store so you have to follow the rules. That being said, I’ve been in with loads of our kids and stuff and during Covid and never had any problems. They have a lot of different, beautiful home decor, clothes, bags, wind chimes and good prices imo. But, read the other reviews and, decide for yourself 😃 I will continue to go back.

First time here. As many of already commented, lots of things to choose from but the staff ( or owners) didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming.Did purchase a nice cap.

Such friendly staff.lots of unique stuff and huge variety.i ended up going 3 days in a row.they even let me exchange a wrong sized tee-shirt. The photo is in memory of the gentleman who did their unique logo. Must stop in.good folks...

I was visiting Tybee Island beginning of July & searched where to buy souvenirs and Christy's popped up!! Let me tell you, I had to close my eyes and be dragged out, otherwise I would of stayed another hour and spend another $100. They carry such a nice variety of items, we got gifts for so many people and even a couple for ourselves, and for great prices. The staff was very nice and didnt bother us, pressure us or tell us anything for sending pics to my daughter in law. I dont know what everyone is complaining about, we had a GREAT experience!! Thank God, we came all the way from Arizona.

TRAPPED US IN THE STOREThey should have let us know one of our bags was dripping and ask us to fix it or leave the store in a professional matter. It is never okay to immediately take an attitude with the customer. It was completely out of line to lock us in. You seriously think there is any chance of me buying anything after noticing that? Think again.My rant is below..I visited this store with some younger siblings of mine. We came from the beach recently and I realized my clothes and our towels was accidentally left in the driver's car. So I had to shop around for something else to wear. Apparently my sister's bag was dripping and we didn't know. No one had the sense to tell us. We would have left kindly. Instead they lock the doors and trap us in the store while I try to look around for decent priced towels and a dress. One of the employees pretended to be nice and went behind to complain about us. The old lady walked up to my sister and said in an extremely unprofessional and rude matter that she can't drip around her store and she had to leave because we were not wanted. The second I saw her do that, I said "Okay kids lets go. I am not spending my money in a store where they are rude like this." I took my money elsewhere. The other stores gave no problems at all.I almost forgot to leave a review.There is a little store near by that sells charms, bracelets, etc. for $5 and she is so much nicer than that horrible couple.

We barely got in the door before we were rudely informed they required masks to enter. I have a respiratory problem and cannot wear a mask. We were told we could not enter without masks. I told her I had chronic asthma and couldn't wear one but thanks anyway. The girls behind me stated they didn't have one with them and we turned to leave. At that time the woman in the shop responded we could get out and take our attitudes with us. We weren't ugly just stated we didn't have masks. Very rude... Surprised at this treatment of potential customers and guests to the island. I can guarantee we will never spend a penny at this establishment. What an ugly attitude.

Don't waste you're time. Staff is extremely rude!! They act like they don't want you there & watch every customer as if they are stealing something. They also have a 'no photography' rule, which I find ridiculous. If you'd like to buy a shirt for a friend, you can't even take a picture (to text to them, just to make sure they like it) without the staff yelling at you. There is nothing in this store that would be an issue to photograph. I have visited other stores on Tybee Island that sell ARTWORK (painting, photos, metal decor) & if you'd prefer (NOT required) you can give a small donation to take pictures. Those stores still allow photos. While Christy's is a souvenir shop- everything should be allow to be photographed. I was simply taking a picture when 2 staff memebers YELLED "no photography in the store!" & "we don't allow pictures!". I work in customer service & know very well there are MANY more ways this could have been said politely to reinforce the unnecessary rule. To top this place off, they are just another overpriced store. You can find half the stuff further down for cheaper (& it's cuter!).

Literally the only place we felt safe shopping on Tybee. Thank you for requiring and enforcing masks. We went into a dozen other shops and left immediately. Some of us care for immune compromised loved ones, but still need to get out of our COVID caves. Great selections for beach stuff and better prices than other places on the street.

It’s really unfortunate that a store in this perfect location has such poor customer service. I bought about $55 worth of items including a pair of flip flops for $4.97, wore them to the beach, they were too big, brought them back within an hour or two and asked if I could swap them out for a bigger size. Everyone was rude and non-accommodating. Unfortunate. Will never return here.

These people are not autism friendly!!!! Very rude !!! My whole family walked in with our mask on except my son. He is 14 and has sensory issues. The lady said he needed a mask. I informed her that he has sensory issues and cannot wear a mask. We have been here two days and NO ONE else turned us away. She said “that’s to bad. He is required to wear a mask” “I said if he doesn’t we need to leave?” She said “absolutely”. I understand the need to be safe. Which is why we waited until the building was empty of others before we entered. Very disappointed in this establishment.

This has always been our favorite ocean decor store on the Georgia coast, & we have purchased many items here. However, due to their new mask requirement, we are now boycotting them & they have lost our business. They are the only store on the beach walk that instituted this requirement. Too bad- we traveled a ways to patronize them.

The safest store we felt walking into on the whole Island. Thank you for putting the safety of your customers with immune-compromised children at ease. This was the ONLY store where the managers/workers were wearing masks (the right way!) and the customers were made to as well. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I was with a group of friends looking at tee shirts, they were $5 if you bought so many and being that my friends were buying some I asked if I checked out separately if I could have the sale price, the lady said yes. I went to check out immediately after the lady told me this (after my friends checked out), she told me that she had never seen me before and did not tell me I could have the sale price. My friends returned their shirts because she was so rude to me and they told us not to come back in their store again - they definitely don t have to worry about me coming back! She laughed as I was walking out the door saying i was having a bad day. She told me she was the owner when I asked to speak to a manager. Horrible experience - steer clear! This has been reported to the Better Business Bureau as well.

This place is terrific! So much fabulous inventory in a beachside store. They have all the supplies you need for the best beach experience (floats, sun chairs, cover-ups, lotion, souvenirs, cute beachy home décor and MORE). I'm loving this seahorse from Christy's!

I thought the store was unique given all the toursity t-shirt shops all over the place. I liked their trademark Tybee Island logo on gift items. As noted with the other reviews, the folks operating the store arent real happy about life, but I suspect they get tired of people just walking around to get some AC comfort. It must be tough making a living in this business.

The Older man at the store was extremely rude to my daughter when she tried to make a purchase with her own card. Don't shop here. The staff at other stores along the strip were much more friendly and had no issue taking her money when she made purchases.

Lou's attitude is AWFUL! She literally took items out of my hands when I didn't want to check out with her. Just a few feet down the strip is Simply Southern better t-shirt designs and MUCH more pleasant.

Made us leave because our stroller with our disabled child in it was wet from the rain. No other store had a problem with my child's stroller. Try literally any other store.
