I did not have a pleasant experience using this shelter. I had a super tiny kitten wander in my yard on Friday evening, dirty with part of one of its ears missing and clearly starving. I saw that they weren’t open until Saturday, so I took the kitten in and gave it some soft food for the night and hoped it would make it through. Saturday morning comes and I go up there early, where a blonde girl tells me to come back at 12 and they would see if they could help. I head back up there and speak to the same blonde girl, to which she says we need to see if this kitten has been microchipped or not. The kitten was in the back of my car in a crate to she followed me. The girl peeked inside the crate for 2 seconds and said that the part of its ear that was missing was done by a vet meaning the cat is fixed and needs to be released back into the woods to be apart of the “feral cat community”. I am aware vets do this, but this cut on his ear wasn’t like that. Mind you, she did not touch the cat, examine the cat, check and see if the cat had any scarring from being fixed, none of that. So I asked if the cat was even old enough to be fixed, because this cat was clearly super super tiny, to which she said yes and repeated that he needs to be released. I, then had this kitten looked at by a local vet friend, and they said this cat had not been fixed and that vets do not do the ear clippings this deep and this cat was way too little to be fixed. This girl was clearly just shooing us away and didn’t bother to be thorough at all with us about anything.

All of the Officers have been nothing but professional and show they care. I have been to an adoption event hosted by the Animal shelter and they all have a passion for animals. Officers Joey, Ajsha, Nathan, and Amber are always polite and willing to help. Great job BCAC

if you’re a student you have to show medical documentation and they failed to inform us that a cat we adopted had a very serious heart murmur. then they tried to make it seem like we were wrong for bringing him back. they told us that putting a stethoscope to his chest was “extra” money and not apart of the services they do for the animals when they come.

I've had a stray dog sitting on my porch for 5 days and I've called to report this every day and this place claims there hasn't been any cases filed for my address. Typical statesboro establishment taking no responsibility and no Initiative to do the job they're paid to do. Everyone here wants a paycheck and nobody wants to do the work. Dog is going to starve right here on my porch and it's ridiculous

My mom went to the hospital for double pneumonia and she had two dogs and they went to this pound till she got out but she ended up passing away. On august 11 of this year and i told them give some time to find a place for them. They said ok. So couple of weeks trying to find a place for them they decided to put them in a rescue. I said ok CALL ME before they left that place. no calls no nothing. So i called to see where they are at the first time. I could understand what the lady was saying cause of how country she sounded. I called today and ask again. they told me they r in Florida and they cant give me any information about what rescue they are in. Here is a picture of one of the dogs that was in there before my mom went into the hospital.

Great staff! I just adopted a 4 1/2 year old dog from them. She is a sweetheart 💕 A great addition to our family. When I'm ready for another dog, this is my first stop! They are a no-kill shelter, which I love. Please check them out!

We had three rooms of dogs to look at in this animal shelter with all the help we needed to make a good home for a rescue dog for a nominal fee. We had time in a room and outside to get to know our new animal friend. Looking forward to picking up our dog after her surgery

Joey is such a phenomenal person.I called Animal Control right before the hurricane and after hours about a dog that had been shot and was on my porch. He actually drove in a hurricane to my house and was so gentle with that puppy. He's compassionate. He's professional. He's an absolute savior for Bulloch County animals. We are lucky to have.

We were visiting in the county and I lost her beloved pet they couldn't be more helpful and compassionate to me and my son and although we're still looking for her we haven't given up. Hopefully leave really feel like she's gotten just lost and really hoping to get her back and we can put some beautiful pictures of the reunion they do a great job here things that people don't think about don't want to think about they have to deal with everyday.

I adopted a sweet girl from here a few months ago. She is the best dog in the world and I was so happy to get her out of this shelter. The place was a mess. There was poo in almost every dog pin. The staff were not helpful. They did not seem to care about the animals and were too busy talking with one another. The only redeeming part of this is that the adoption process is incredibly easy and we were able to take our girl home the very next day.

Excellent staff. They were very friendly and helpful. I felt everything they told me about each dog we were interested in was honest. They are not just trying to get rid of the animals. They are trying to make sure each breed goes to the right family.

I really enjoyed my visit to the shelter. I saw a lot of very cute dogs and cats. I hope to provide one a forever home and bring joy to his or her life. Remember animals are God's way of saying I love you. So treat everyone you meat very well.

Called them to come relocate a large soft shell turtle; my roommates and I had no idea where it came from due to there being no lake or pond nearby. Told us to call back after a few hours to see if it leaves; hadn’t moved. Call back to be told they couldn’t help us relocate it to a safer habitat; other than our roasting back porch 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANIMAL NEEDS.

I haven't adopted a pet from there, but I did call to register a concern about potential animal abuse. Thankfully it turned out to be a false alarm, but I was very impressed with how seriously the Bulloch County team took the matter. They were extremely responsive - just another way they show how they care for our furry friends. Clearly a top notch organization all around.

Amazing facility and brought home a newly adopted furbaby (dog named Annabelle). Everyone at the facility was attentive and helpful with our needs. My 9 yr old picked out a sweet last chance rescue dog! Can't wait for her to grow old with us! Thank you Brianna and Michelle!

This is NOT a high kill shelter. They take really good care of the animals there. I enjoyed the office cats. Adoption process is quick and simple. If you want to see the animals remember to wear closed toe shoes!

The staff is very nice, and helpful. If you're going to go...WEAR CLOSE-TOED SHOES (NO SANDALS), or you wont be able to see the animals. It's for their, and your own protection (germs come and go on your shoes). There are several puppy/kitty "play rooms", so you can play with whichever dog or cat you'd like to take home. Plus they microchip, before you take your new baby home.I will always adopt from here :)

The parking lot is very small and each time we've gone, full (which is a good thing!) When you walk in, the counter is on your right where you sign in and someone can assist you and show you around. Pet items are for sale on the left, for any quick needs when you make your decision to adopt! You go down a hall which ends at a door to the outside BUT on both sides of that door are rooms you can bring your potential pet into to spend some time alone w them in a calmer setting w chairs, toys, cat tower, etc. This was VERY helpful! It gives time w the animal away from the more eager, excited environment of the cage areas they live in daily at the shelter. You go thru that door to the outside and thru another door for the back building which actually houses all the potential pets. There are extra leashes outside the rooms that hold the dogs. You are required to use a leash if you'd like to take a dog out of the cage to check it out. We sampled all the dog rooms and found such amazingly lovable and adorable dogs! Various ages, various colors, various in size and type of breed! We did not visit the cat rooms bc we already own cats, but we did see the photos posted and they were absolutely adorable! We asked and were informed, this is a low-kill shelter, meaning they only put down pets that are very sick and\or dying -OR- very aggressive pets that are proving themselves dangerous\not safe as a pet. This shelter is set up well, very spacious and all animals there seemed REALLY well taken care of and happy! There were never any bad odors either, no overwhelming smell of pets or of them using the bathroom, this was a very clean animal shelter!

It's clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Adoption paperwork is quick and painless. Make sure you wear closed toe shoes. They won't let you in the back with sandal type shoes.

Dealt with these folks when we found a stray dog on our property. She was in poor health and they were going to put her down if no one claimed her. We worked with them to adopt the dog and they were very helpful and let us take her back to our farm. She's thriving now!

Great place, clean and good to their animals, easy adoption process. My last few adoptions have been a breeze here, and coming from other shelters, this one is definitely a winner in that department.

I was visiting a family member when a kitten showed up.I just knew it's Mom was going to show up and I wouldn't have to worry but after 2 days it didn't and my heart was breaking.I needed help and didn't know what to do.I called and they made an appointment as fast as the next afternoon.Even though I tried throughout the night nursing the baby it seemed to get worse..so first thing the next morning I called sobbing like a child begging for help and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help and told me to come right away. They had EVERYTHING ready before I even got there and took the baby on back. What really made my heart not ache as much is that if the baby as I called her wasn't going to make it they wouldn't let her suffer.I cried all the way home mind you but with their wonderful sweet caring help I knew she was in a better place..
