Went to adopt a dog, I had asked the lady before I got there if they were taking any puppies they said no. I went back to tell them I wanted to adopt a puppy, they told me I couldn’t because I had asked if they were taking any. Questioned me already about the dogs I have that are completely healthy and get fed. She told me it was illegal to have a dog not spaded in Georgia which is absolutely not true. The staff is rude and never gave me an explanation for why I could adopt a dog. No one helps you look at dogs, and the prisoners where nicer then the staff. The dogs cages where nasty, no one was with the dogs at all. Do not recommend this P.A.W.S.

The Rhode Island SPCA has been accepting transports from Public Animal Welfare Services in Rome GA for several years. A coworker and myself were lucky enough to visit their facility in May of 2022, and being a northern east coast rescue worker, it was a total culture shock. The quality of care the animals are provided is outstanding especially when considering the sheer number of animals in their building at any given time. Their shelter is clean, and well maintained. I can also honestly say we have never gotten a bad animal from them. A transport of 20 cats that was taken in September of 2022 were adopted within a seven days of coming off the transport truck. We believe it would’ve been a shorter length of stay if we had made them adoptable right away, but we allowed them some decompression time. PAWS does an excellent job of accommodating to state guidelines, and our shelter’s expectations as far as veterinary care the animals receive prior to transport. And as far as personalities go, all of the animals we receive have a Georgia charm that one just cannot immediately fall in love with. Any shelter that accepts transports from PAWS should count themselves lucky to partner with such a dedicated group who works tirelessly to serve their community and the animals who live in it.Olivia WarburtonCat and Small Animal ManagerRhode Island SPCAP.S. Attached is a photo of THE BEST CAT EVER - a cat named Reni who gave everyone he met hugs! Thank you PAWS for sending us this awesome guy, who didn’t even last us 3 days!

Everything was very clean and while I have been in shelters that the smell would just hit you in the face, PAWS did not. Good job PAWS!

I'm going to keep it at three until I know my baby didn't get put down. I used to be able walk him and play with him but I'm pregnant and my mobility is limited due to my foot problems. We are also moving into a apartment. I didn't want him on a chain either. I took him here as a past resort and I pray to god he gets adopted.

Adopted two beautiful tabby babies here earlier this year, Mr. Socks and Tiger! Now they have a Forever Home!AMAZING FACILITY! Extremely clean, modern with Top Notch Staff! I was impressed in particular by the prisoner volunteers, whom all seemed genuinely concerned, offering helpful advice for bonding and appeared hard working!! NOTHING melts a gal's heart more than watching 'tough' 😉 young men loving on them sweet fur babies!!!!😍We also donated some items there before and the staff seemed extremely appreciative and grateful. Please consider finding your forever pet here. As well as dropping off any donations you may have for them. (Check any COVID restrictions). Rescue animals truly are the best. We have shared our home with dozens! They thank you with all their hearts, the rest of their days and love you so unconditionally! Please Adopt! Don't Shop!

Absolutely ridiculous! They don’t answer their phone nor do they return phone calls or emails. I left a message and an email regarding a stray male dog that’s been roaming around my neighborhood carrying trash in his mouth. He needs help and I never heard back from them. If you ask me it sounds like they don’t care about animals because if they did they would’ve contacted me back right away and that dog would be safe inside a warm building instead of being outside in the cold starving. I hope they see this review and feel terrible that they basically ignored a Good Samaritan trying to save an animal’s life.

So how do you rate a place like this? I mean everything was clean. Everybody was nice. There are a bunch of dogs and other critters. So good selection ? Everybody was polite, and the dogs and everybody else that were on four legs covered in fur. Fur we're pretty much happy to have any attention! I would say going here just looking around and showing affection to the animals is of itself interesting. No, I didn't get a pet, I already have so many. Where we're at in the world.

We stopped by PAWS to drop off some donations. It reminded us of how hard everyone there works to care for the animals, and how much they do to improve the lives of all animals in our community. Please consider donating, volunteering, or adopting!

Lady I spoke with refused to take a dog I brought in, she rudely said they were full and had no room, if they took the dog it would only get euthanized. I sarcastically asked if I should just drop the dog off somewhere as I cannot take care of it, and she just shrugged her shoulders at me. This is NOT a no kill shelter. Staff is very rude and unprofessional.

Would give 5 stars, but took about 5 different phone calls to different employees to follow up on adoption application. Took over 2 weeks to finally get our new baby!!! When they attempted to put in the tracker via shot, it was not successful. I found it in her hair when we were about to leave! They were super nice about it and made sure the 2nd time was successful. In person was great experience, just the process before picking her up was hectic!!! Also, she ended up with infection; however, the vet visit (ended up being same vet that fixed her) didn't charge for visit!.only for the antibiotics $12!!! And she is doing great! Cost was $35 adoption that included spay and only $15 for tracking device!!! Would recommend this place!

was very clean and the associates were very friendly and informative but it was also sad because everyone of those animals wanted to be saved. They did say that people can voluntarily come and walk the dogs if you have a brief tutorial. That would be good for someone like myself that is not set up to have a pet at this time. But beware it will take a strong person because after leaving there I feel like I just want all the dogs!

Just got my sweet kitty from here today and the employees were super helpful and very nice. Some of the kitties really needed baths but they all had water and the litter boxes didn't look too bad. I look forward to loving on him and finding him a suitable name.

Applied to adopt a kitten after my fur baby of ten years passed away. Received no update after 1-2 weeks. I had to personally call them several times and found out that the cat had been taken to a vet for an illness. Waited and waited and waited, called and got ignored. No update on the cat after that. Just radio static. You should let potential adopters know about the status of the pet they want instead of letting them get their hopes up. The nicest people working there were the prison inmates doing community service there.

They had my puppy and gave me a 2 week deadline to get his rabies shot. I explained to the lady im on a fixed income and could I have an extra week for his shot. Well, she actually gave me a full month to get his shot. I thought that was very nice of her

Took a 3 day old kitten that my daughter had brought home after being rejected by its mother. I gave them the kitten replacement formula I'd purchased when they'd brought him home. We weren't knowledgeable enough to try and care for this little guy and PAWS was happy to take him. Hopefully they got him to a kitten raiser who would do a better job than I could.

Floyd Animal Control has very nice and helpful staff. My roommate got a cat. They request taking your adopted pet to the vet within 3 days (for free with waiver, at certain veterinary clinics). If something is wrong with the pet you adopt, take the paperwork for proof. They will let you pick a new pet. Also, there is a giant snake in the lobby. Pretty cool.

We went in looking for a doggo for our family, and found the best fit. He was in there for 6 months, had heart worms, with no hope because of his medical needs, breed and size. Took him home and it was the best decision we could have ever made. Staff Is helpful but could have been a little more open about illnesses. We spent over an hour getting to know him, introducing him to our kids/other dogs ext. Then while we were filing out his adoption papers we then found out he had heartworms and that's not an easy or inexpensive illness. Other than this, it's your typical sad shelter full of doggies/cats waiting for their family to adopt.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. If they don't have an animal that catches your eye, just wait. They usually have periods where they are so full, adoptions fees are waived. We found our dog there and we couldn't be happier with him.

It was clean. The people there, were not around in view so much, but they had so many signs posted showing where everything was and where to go that you wouldn't have trouble with anything. I was impressed also that it didn't smell bad either!

Have been trying to give them this lost dog I found so the owners have the best chance at finding their dog. I had to keep the dog for a whole day cause they couldn’t come and get her and now they are telling me they can’t until Thursday. I cannot keep this dog I don’t have time or money to do it. Poor service won’t be contacting them or donating again.

This facility works hard to care for the animals they have. They are not a no kill shelter but work closely with rescues and have a 96% adoption rate. I've adopted a dog and a kitten from here. It's clean and the staff/prisoners are very friendly.

The prisoners are more friendly than the actual staff. I wanted to get a specific dog on Tuesday. They said she wouldn't be available until Thursday and she was perfectly fine that Tuesday. Come in today (friday) and her back leg was hurt and they didn't seem to know what happened. And I couldn't take her bc they were sending her to the vet. They need to take better care of the animals other than just food and water. That poor baby is dealing with her hurt leg right now and they didnt send her to get today...why???

Animal Control worked to help us with 2 dogs that had been dropped off like unwanted trash. We were feeding these precious dogs however we were afraid for their safety due to the traffic on our road. The compassion shown to them by the sweet man that came to get them was overwhelming! PLEASE consider adoption at PAWS first. So many innocent babies needing a loving forever home!

After losing my 15 year old kitty, I was able to donate 2 cases of cat food and a cat tree. Such wonderful people. Adopt a cat or dog! They are overflowing with your next loving pet!
