Nestled in the heart of downtown Rome, Georgia, Dogwood Books is a literary oasis that captivates from the moment you step through its charming entrance. From the warm greetings at the door to the carefully curated shelves, this bookstore is a haven for book lovers. The store itself is a masterpiece of organization and aesthetics. The layout is intuitive, inviting exploration without overwhelming. Each section seems to have been meticulously arranged, with books that beckon you to discover new worlds and ideas. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it easy to lose track of time while browsing the shelves. What truly sets Dogwood Books apart are the delightful surprises tucked away among the literary treasures. As I perused the shelves, I discovered enchanting little touches that added a layer of magic to the bookstore experience. I especially liked the photos of people immersed in books adorning the end caps. All the thought-provoking quotes by literary giants sprinkled about reminded me of the profound impact books can have on our lives. The real gems, however, were the books themselves. Dogwood Books boasts an impressive selection, and it's clear that every title has earned its place. I found rare editions, obscure titles, and long-lost favorites, each waiting to be discovered. It's a testament to the careful curation and dedication to offering a diverse and rich collection that spans genres and interests. In the end, Dogwood Books is more than just a bookstore; it's a celebration of the written word. From the warm welcome at the door to the carefully chosen books and the magical details that adorn the space, every aspect is a testament to the love of literature. If you're a book enthusiast or just looking for a cozy place to explore, Dogwood Books in downtown Rome, GA, is a must-visit.

I could spend all of my money here! Please oh please if you visit our lovely little downtown here in Rome - make an effort to stop in at Dogwood. Even if it's just for something simple or you'd like a book from a local author...the owner goes ABOVE and beyond to make this store special and he will help you find exactly what you weren't aware you've always wanted to read! Plus, who doesn't love the smell of a used book store...best!

Independent bookstores are priceless gems for building a sense of place and community and this one is no different! Walking thru its inviting aisles of meticulously curated categories, all well organized, interesting and some quite intriguing like the local schools' vintage yearbook collection or the periodicals, all served as fantastic finds. I enjoyed speaking to the owner to better understand the legacy and perseverance that it takes to own such an important pillar to the community. I bought a 1964 map of US thinking it will serve as a great tool that navigate the old forgotten roadways that built "small town" America.

This is such a cute place! There are so many hidden gems in this book store, specifically rare older versions of books that are a little worn. There are many different genres within the store, so anyone can find their pick. The store keeper is super sweet, so definitely stop by!

The store isn't arranged in a organized manner and the old gentlemen behind the counter wasn't knowledgeable or helpful about the book selections. I'll go back once more and really spend some time but I was disappointed today with my first visit.

Went in looking for Fantasy. They had a decent variety and some titles I've never seen before. I didn't like how the prices for the books wasn't in the book itself in didn't see a sign saying what they might cost either. I don't want to go up to the register with something I'm set to get and be attacked by the price. Maybe there was a sign saying the prices. If so I will edit this post if I see it or a pic.

Wow lots of books including used books. Great to see a bookstore that's not a big chain that also sells used books!

Absolutely fantastic book store! I could have stayed in there all day. They had books on subjects I don’t typically see, and the prices were very reasonable. The person who checked me out was super friendly and there were a couple of comfy chairs from which to check out books. Highly recommended!

My daughter loves coming here and getting books. The vibe of the store is a place she can feel at home in and get lost in the books! We always seem to end up spending enough to get a free book bag. She loves supporting this local business, but the owner also encourages her reading. With book trade in, we are able to keep the book fund going, and she loves finding new ones she enjoys!

Delightful small town bookstore. Large selection of classic children’s books. Good selection within available genres for adults. I would’ve love to see a graphic novel section, but that’s no reason not to visit. Standard and fair pricing. Some sign copies available. Conveniently located downtown on Broad Street.

I highly recommend Dogwood Books. I I learned that they had a book that’s nearly impossible to find. Not only did they have a copy-it was even better than described, and for the best price I had found.I explained to the gentleman that I needed this for an upcoming present and I was shocked at the fast shipping.I truly haven’t had this great an experience all around than I did with Dogwood Books. A++++++++Thanks so much for the VIP treatment!

I only stayed for a little while but let me just say this is a beautiful store with excellent customer service! I bought a used hardback book I couldn't find in stock anywhere else for a cheaper price and it's in excellent condition! Before buying new at barnes and noble give this place a try! You'll find what you're looking for and then some!

I have been going to Dogwood since I was a student at Berry (long long ago). I love Dogwood and try to stop in every time I am in Rome. It’s a cute used book shop. I have found some super cute unique old books. I genuinely enjoy spending hours looking at every book! I could spend all day and all my money!I am a book shop junkie and check out everyone I can find. This is a good one!

Clean, well-kept used bookstore with a focus on Southern history & Southern writers from multiple perspectives (aka not all white/whitewashed). Books are in great condition. He's also got a fascinating collection of YA series from past years. The owner leaves you alone to wander, but is also happy to chat if you'd prefer. Highly recommend.

Great bookstore I found while passing through Rome and walking around on a lovely day. You don’t see stores like this much anymore. Great selection of quality books and a knowledgeable and courteous owner who obviously cares about what he is offering.Clean, well organized with plenty of space to walk around. Will visit each time I get through Rome.

Great used bookstore with a surprisingly large collection! The books were in excellent condition, including books that were ridiculously old. For example, there was a copy of Gone With the Wind on display in quite good condition (I was expecting from the 1970s or so), and it turned out to be from the 1930s! I was blown away. Would highly recommend this place for collectors

Nice selection of local authors, most have signed copies of their books available in Dogwood. I got a copy of Nicole Carlson Easley's Savannah Folklore there and a free canvas bag. Took a look at the vintage children's book selection, which seemed to be okay. Friendly staff.

This is a new and used book store... mostly used. They have very large sections of all types of books on 2 floors. They are grouped nicely but I'm thinking that they were not alphabetized by the author's last name as in some used bookstores. The place was clean and the people were friendly. The checkout process was cumbersome and there were a few ahead of me in line... so it took a while. I would definitely go back.

Dogwood has a great selection of fiction, history, and other genres. Mr. Studdard, the owner, is quite knowledgeable about his stock. He has helped me many times in tracking down hard-to-find titles. A great place to browse.

Hi. I'm a teenager who visited this Bookstore recently and was unfortunate enough to have to listen to the employee behind the counter's loud discussion with a couple customers. The employee claimed that teenagers, like me, are too ignorant to even leave the house, let alone get a job (which I have) and read books (I was holding onto 3 but decided not to purchase them). The bookstore itself is very unorganized, with poetry in the literature and history sections, even though they had a poetry section. To be specific, the Odyssey and Victor Hugo's poems were in the Literature section, and the Aeneid was in the ancient history section. All three of these books are poems, so they would logically be placed in the Poetry section, however for some reason they were placed in every section but poetry. The prices are also quite high, a book (Citizens: A Chronicle of the French Revolution) I purchased elsewhere for $1.50 was sold here in worse condition for $8.00. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Great selection of historical books. Extremely helpful staff in finding appropriate books for children. Local history and local writers are clearly displayed. Suggested reading list is a bonus only found in locally owned book stores.

The owner and other gentleman that work here after amazing. I was trying to sell some books to get some stuff cleared out and these gentlemen are VERY knowledgeable. They knew everything there is to know about almost every book there is. It was an amazing learning experience.
